Stone cold for sure omg.... I had 3 winter jackets on...seriously...3 jackets!!! It's when the wind hits your face and your eyes water- should have worn my ski goggles!
I wear my ski clothes. It helps with the wind and cold. But that's a great idea wearing the ski goggles to keep your eyes from watering so much. I'm going to try it! Thanks for the tip. I don't know why I didn't think about that before. Rock on girl we will be the only ones on the river wearing goggles. Maybe we'll start a trend!
@Myrtle Morris Welcome to my channel! Oh yes, I have an 18 inch slab saw...he's a beast and his name is Drogon. My next cutting video will be out Saturday morning 2/4. Here's a link to the playlist of some of my past slabbing videos.. Cutting Rocks: ua-cam.com/play/PL_O4VND5SjVvcoCTN1tJQOy6NO6hUKti3.html
That concretion looks like a fossilized barnacle. Can I say you've got a sickness...you need more warm days in winter. Thanks for taking us along. I had to bundle up in my recliner. Doesn't seem to affect Chopper....Who's a good boy....? Stay warm, stay well, stay safe.
Wowee Zoweee! The rainbow colored wood was too cool. The red agate was too! The moss banded agate too, and the green jasper! . . ..And and and ! Do you ever have a bad day rock hounding?! Thanks for bringing me along. Can't wait to see what you do with those.
Great to see you back at it, Kim. I believe I speak for the masses when I say, thank goodness your ok and we finally get some more rock hounding dopamine!!! Keep rocking on and watch your footing 😋
So good to see another video from you. That's some dedication to get out in that weather, and you found some great rocks too. Chopper is so entertaining to watch - he has a good life. Thanks for posting!
Yay!! Kim's back for my morning coffee!! We've missed you. Theo has assured us all you were still there, but I was beginning to think we'd never hear from you again. I was NOT expecting those water lines at 5:52, that was cool. And that green edge at 12:00 too! That first piece of japerized/agatized pet wood was just nuts, that was more colorful than the rainbow wood that comes from Arizona. And then you found another one!! That one looks like it had started to rot a bit before it petrified. Great show, glad to see you back again. Stay warm.
It's so great hearing from you Ken. Its been a tough winter for me! Sometimes I just show up at Theo's, unannounced, knocking, or should I say "banging" on his door..."Theo! Theo! I need to be here surrounded by all your rocks!" and also because he has a heart with an endless supply of smiles and can get me to smile every time I see his face 😊
🥶🥶🥶... I went out right before this storm hit...timed it perfectly! It was really treacherous though...and the wind chills, right through your bones. That red carnelian I found blew my mind, so red! From the weather Outlook, we may all be in doors for a bit again.
You're back!! We missed you so much! If it wasn't for Theo mentioning you a few times, I would have been worried. (I still worried a little bit.) You found some wonderful rocks out in the cold, it was definitely worth the trip. Especially that colorful jasperized wood....gorgeous!
It's been a tough winter! I braved the cold for sure. I need to pull it together and keep pushing myself to get out there... I get cabin fever pretty bad
Oh its good to see you and chopper again, even if you are out in those blood freezing temps! But sometimes you just gotta say... Rocks! That iron concretion nodule thing was cool. And those agates are sweet! And that carnelian is so red! And that jasperized, agatized petrified wood was crazy beautiful! straight from the park express to your door! lol! And that green is so green it looks dyed! gorgeous! Aww and chopper trying to dig you out! What a precious boy! Thanks for the rock fix!
It's great to see you and Chopper out there again but brrrrrrr!!!!!! You sure did find some beautiful treasures tho. I particularly love the carnelian type agate. Amazing color! Thanks for taking us along altho I was freezing my butt off just watching!
Winter didn’t stop you 😊 such cool finds! That first agate was amazing. Then the waterline! WOW!! Miss your face! Hope you are doing great! Copper said “Great mom, now I have to burry my bone somewhere else!” Lol he’s so smart and funny! Soooo we still gonna do a girls get together rockhound? I’m hoping so 🤗 Take care and much love ❤️
Frozen rockhounding adventures are the funnest to watch. You always find some killer agates. That day was no exception! Holy smokes, some sweet jaspery pieces! I love the big agate in the beginning in that dead brush, it had a funky shape and gorgeous colors. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks so much, Kim! You gave me a small hunting fix. I can’t believe the awesome rocks you find in the middle of winter 😍. I wish I were with you and Chopper. Love your channel! Have you fed Drogon lately? He needs to eat! Your cutting episodes are the absolute best out there ❤ Stay Crystal 💫 Mari
What a nice mid-winter treat to see you (a little at least) out there braving the chilly weather; it's been too long. Looking forward to seeing more of you again as the winter slowly starts to fade! ❄⛄❄
Wow wow wow! That rock hunt was DEFINITELY worth going out in that weather. Thank you very much Kim for braving the elements and taking us along on your adventure today. That waterline was absolutely nuts!! But that agatized jasperized petrified wood stole the show for me. Rock on!🤘
The waterline was completely unexpected! Sometimes when you get home and clean your rocks off, it's like you get to go rockhounding again! I love the wood for sure...but the red carnelians....wow, I don't find a lot of those here, how stunning when the sun hits them. 😍
I know the feeling of itching to go agate hunting during the winter! Watching all these wonderful rockhounding videos has helped. But I still can't wait to go! Lol! 😊
Yay nice to see you and Chopper back. Havent seen you on in a while. Such beautiful jaspers. Oh wow the rocks look so clean during the winter. Awesome hunt. Careful on frozen ricers and creeks. I fell through one when i was 12 and went waist deep in minus 25 Celsius. Ran a 1/2 mile home. Frozen pants and boots by the time i got home. Wasnt fun.
Wow great finds!! Nice to see you back! The best hound out there, your eye does not have a match! Would be a dream going out on a hunt with you. Those multicolored Jaspers are simply incredible. Thanks for the video
That jasperised wood and the red agates were fantastic! I hope you’ll show them to us again all cleaned up and maybe cut. Or you could just ship them to me. 😄
When I look at that iron concretion under my microscope, I can see some shell remaining in small areas....so maybe it really is some type of barnacle system? Most of it has all turned to iron and its oxides....it's quite heavy!
This was a pretty extreme condition to rockhound, you are one brave lady. The cornelian agate, colorfull jasper and petrefied wood are gorgeous. Wish you could show the carnelian agate cleaned up, it look quite amazing. Happy new year Kim, Chopper and the rest of the family. Rock on.
Sometimes he'll sit underneath a tree and try to pull out all of the little ice balls between his toes..if the wind picks up, we find a cave shelter, or make a quick one together...then wait out the storm.
Absolutely beautiful scene….fab. rocks. Thanks for getting out there. I’m glad you found exposed rocks. It must be where the sun hits or the wind blows like crazy. I’ve had non-west friends puzzle over the snow fences near the highway. I tell them the highway dept. knows how the drifts are blown.
So glad to see you! What beautiful finds, you are braver than I am still too cold and snow-covered here in Idaho. Can hardly wait to get out and hunt again. Take care thanks for the fix.
You always seem to find such great specimens. With the luxury of 'pause' though, I'm always just as enthralled at the stones you don't feature or explore! I'm going..."Pick up that one, or the one beside it, or what about that (place colour here) stone? One of my favorite hounding channels for sure!
Thank you Raun. When I watch my video, I always see rocks or fossils I should have picked up or explored further. You know how when you get really tired on a hiking trail and you stop making all the noise for the bears because you no longer care if it gets you, haha...my eyes get tired from the concentration and I miss stuff!
I really love all the beautiful stones. The colorful pet wood, the red carnelian and the green jasper were over the top. Glad to see you back and Chopper was his amazing self. When you post holed and made a noise, he came running over to make sure you were OK. The intro was super, but made me feel cold and amazed at the same time. Keep those gloves on and keep the magic happening. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
Wow, My Head is exploding... I find myself pausing on every shot you show of the ground ( have paused over 100 times) and staring at all the rocks that i would pick up that you seem to let lay there. Maybe it is because you are used to seeing that kind of rock on a daily basis. Here on the coast just south of Boston, we don't have any mineralizations like this here. I would need a dumptruck for the amount of rock I would be bringing home :-D Would love to come out there and go rockhounding with you and that beautiful dog Chopper some day.
I know what you mean...Some of the gravel beds here you could just sit down in one spot and look through the rocks for quite a long time. Trust me, I want to pick up so many more than I do! I miss a lot of good ones that I see when I'm watching the video too! The sun can be blinding and sometimes you focus in on one rock and miss what's right next to it. I love color, I love banding and I love patterns. But best of all, I like going out and feeling like I might find the coolest rock I've ever found that day...just waiting out there to be found! The air is so fresh, the hiking makes me smile. Life is good when you're out on a treasure hunt 😉
By the way, there were a WHOLE BUNCH of green rocks that you missed!!!! Lol Beautiful agates and jaspers My rocks up here in the frozen north are under a foot++ of snow and it’s headed for -25*C I am hounding vicariously through you!!!!!
Thank you so much for your frozen rock hunt! Amazing discoveries, despite the weather and the snow cover! I am realizing that, whenever you have videos of all those rocks by the river, if I was out there, my pockets would be too full to move! With that snow shelf, it would be dangerous to pick up all that weight. Nice too see your eyes and Chopper's joy again!
You're so right... I was consciously thinking about that on my hike back over the thin frozen ice...tried keeping my bag as light as possible and yelled at myself for my recent late night ice cream binges, lol ☺️
When you find, then show off another great specimen why do I also find myself looking at the rock beds in the background hopping to find a second or third treasure? I may have a hunter/gatherer issue.
Now that's what I call stone cold!! Great winter hunt. Your one of the best hounds out there. I'm glad to see you back on the river. Take care girl.
Loved all those rocks. Thanks for taking us along.
Kim, it is MARVELOUS to be out "with" you again!! And believe me...if I ever stood in a spot with so many COLORS of ROCKS, I'd die of pure joy!
Thank you for coming along, it was great being out again too!
Great to see you back at it, Kim. I believe I speak for the masses when I say, thank goodness your ok and we finally get some more rock hounding dopamine!!! Keep rocking on and watch your footing 😋
Good on you Braveheart!!!! Thanks for the videos!!!!:)
The red agatised wood was so colourful, some beautiful finds... You're so lucky to have this wonderful place close to home 👍💕💕💕💕
-For me, it's wonderful to see across this part from the World from England.
Such beautiful finds. That red is so pretty. Thank you for sharing: Chopper is such a great dog. Digging you a path. ❤
Welcome back!
I don't know how you do it Kim. The wind your mic picks up brings back the memories in Big Sky.
Yay so glad you have a video again!!
So awesome
I take it you and your canine companion were getting a spell of cabin fever! And I’ve been missing seeing another video from you! Thanks so much!
Oh my gosh, I was so happy to see your video! Your poor puppy mine would be doing the same. Gorgeous rocks. Thank you!
Beautiful!👍👍👍👍👍
beautiful☆美しい!!
Congratulations. Successful hunting of beautiful stones. I admire your courage to go collect stones in such frost.👏
Have been missing your adventures. Th ks
Wow !!!! That was quite a hunt, out in the cold. That multi-colored Jasper was my favorite. Thanks Kim, you're wonderful.
Wow! That little Iron Cocretion looks just like a teensy "petrified CACTUS"!! Ha!
Burrrrr, lol
Beautiful finds Kim!
✌️💜😃
So good to see another video from you. That's some dedication to get out in that weather, and you found some great rocks too. Chopper is so entertaining to watch - he has a good life. Thanks for posting!
Great jasperized agatized petrified wood. Thanks MRM and of coarse Chopper
A rockhound knows no bounds, glad to see you enjoying. Chopper trying to save mum by digging her out is priceless.
That's so great You noticed Chopper trying to dig me out! He's so smart ... my protector...I love my dog so much! ❤️
@@MontanaRockMom I have to say that I also noticed Chopper barking as he was trying to dig you out! Good boy, Chopper!!
You are so lucky getting an opportunity to rockhound where you do. 😊

Great hunt and beautiful finds! Thanks for braving the cold and taking us along!✌️🤠🤘
Yesterday I realized that I had not seen anything from MRM in along time! WaLa MRM and Chopper visit me on YT, good to see you!!!
Thanks for the winter adventure ! A young woman who loves what I love ! They're beautiful ,❣️🌌🌄
I did, so much, enjoy getting out with you. You're an inspiration, MRM!
You're back!! We missed you so much! If it wasn't for Theo mentioning you a few times, I would have been worried. (I still worried a little bit.) You found some wonderful rocks out in the cold, it was definitely worth the trip. Especially that colorful jasperized wood....gorgeous!

I definitely wanted to see you back but not in those brutal conditions!🤗
Two reds in a row. Wow so red and gemmy
Great day for a hunt! And you found some beautiful specimens. Thanks for braving the cold!
So great to see you and Chopper conquering the elements to find gorgeous rocks, bones, and chew sticks. Thank you for sharing the fun!

It's so good to see you back! Drogon out of treats? I see Chopper found one. What a great day! You even got a little smiley face.
You find the most amazing rocks!!! And I love your pup.

Some of those are really really nice.
👍🏻👍🏻. 👀
I am so jealous, you found some great looking rocks!
Finally your back!!! Great winter hunt!!!!!!
Good to see you out again, mrm.
Wow! Now that’s called braving the elements! Thanks for taking us along! Nice to see you posting again.
I am jealous, 1/2 hour and 100 pounds of rock later. Fantastic furry friend. Also cold in eastern Canada.
Amazing finds and Chopper makes a great rockhounding companion. I have yet to visit and rockhound Montana but it is on my list though not in winter! 😂
I love watching her rockhounding I used to do the same thing in the deserts in the west
I'm shocked to see how many rocks you found in the middle of winter and in the snow. Such beautiful specimens!
I was too! Gravel beds are such a rockhound playground. I miss the summer gravel. 😢
@@MontanaRockMom I know it seems like winter is never ending, but sooner than you think spring and summer will be here!
beautiful finds today.
Glad your still getting out there. Someday we'll get up there. Thanks for sharing the goodness! Happy hunting, MRM !! Still love your vids.
I'm torn between the jasper wood & that bright green jasper for my fave! Beautiful pieces! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for watching and commenting Camilo- you're so kind. ❤️ I hope 2023 is starting out well for you.
That jasperised wood and the red agates were fantastic! I hope you’ll show them to us again all cleaned up and maybe cut. Or you could just ship them to me. 😄
Haha I 💙 U Amy you are a funny gal 😉😊
Awesome finds 👏👏!! Thank you for sharing your video. I will second the iron stone that looks like fossilized barnacles.
When I look at that iron concretion under my microscope, I can see some shell remaining in small areas....so maybe it really is some type of barnacle system? Most of it has all turned to iron and its oxides....it's quite heavy!
Glad to see you back on the hound Kim 👍 hopefully we can get together for a rockhounding day this summer, great finds as always.
Just took the dog for a walk and I could have put on my snowshoes! 🏂🏂🏂
Glad you can still have fun in the winter 🥶 Keep on Rockin❣️
That's right!!!!!!!!!!!! 💯
Great Finds!
Rock on.
Thanks for taking the time to clean the agates and splice the video next to the time when you found it. It’s so exciting see agates! Stay warm girl!
Chopper is such a trooper! My dogs would make me carry them in after five minutes in that chill! Nice scores by the way! That place is agate heaven!
Sometimes he'll sit underneath a tree and try to pull out all of the little ice balls between his toes..if the wind picks up, we find a cave shelter, or make a quick one together...then wait out the storm.
You two are the best! The agates aren't bad either! Clearly living your best life!
I was wondering what you were up to. That third rock looked like a barnacle.
I am also wondering about the iron concretion...I looked a bit closer under my microscope and I could see bits of seashell...possibly barnacles....
@@MontanaRockMom My money is it is a fossilized giant barnical and it is in great shape as well. .
So good to see you two out braving the cold. It's been too long! ♥
It's been a tough winter! Thank you for watching Randy 😘
Wow! Where I come from I find alot of agate , they are just pebbles though. I love these big ones!
Nice finds 🤙
You rock! Awesome dedication - but as the person below said, be safe!
You did really good!!❤
So glad to see you! What beautiful finds, you are braver than I am still too cold and snow-covered here in Idaho. Can hardly wait to get out and hunt again. Take care thanks for the fix.
It's scary out there sometimes I must admit... the winters are brutal right! Stay warm...
Love the jaspBRRRR
Very nice!
2 carnelians right next to each other what are the odds of that!! 😲 I can't even believe it! Looks like a killer spot to go back when it thaws out
