This show was amazing and I’m hooked and invested I don’t know what show you been watching
I’m confused by his review as well. He said there were too many side stories. What? It’s an ensemble cast. Therefore, we have to get the backstory of each character.
He totally MISSED how these people are connected. The connection is they are adult children of parents with SICKLE CELL.
I like the fact that the characters revealed their powers to family and close friends. It makes sense.
Michael, the lead character had no choice but to share his powers with his fiancée. She saw his eyes glow and he vanished.
I think the show is off to a good start.

Frankly, I think a lot of people missed the cultural context of this film. People from other cultures will likely think differently and make different decisions from our own.

In other words for him to get into the show, the cast needed to be relatively all white Londoners who get powers from opioids….. you know, something Caucasians can relate to. 😑

I thought that was a bit noteworthy in the IMDB description that I read, too. The fact that they were black seemed less the uniting factor of the story compared to the Sickle Cell angle, but maybe the IMDB synopsis writer thought that was a spoiler? -Paeter

Thank you for the unbiased review. Because of the Rotten Tomatoes critic score I was worried that it was a bait and switch, trying to pander to my ethnicity and love of super hero content. Thank you for clarifying that it is mainly an inner-city drama with a few super powers thrown in. That actually helps me a lot in determining whether I want to invest precious hours of my life on this show. Due to your fair, honest and balanced review, you got yourself a like, comment and subscription.

Really enjoyed it - but can someone explain when making a show like this does it have to follow the diversity quota and rules , personally I don’t think it should it would feel unrealistic- but this is the same issue I have with shows that do - making it feel strange and out of context .
I'm going to assume you're a bot to spread discontent and great discourse. Did you even watch the show? There's a specific reason why all the main characters are black and I thought it was a great plot device.
We aren't monoliths, as expertly portrayed in the show. It's no one's fault but yours that the concept may be too far removed from your perception of a people to make sense to you, oh well. This series kept me up till 2 am, and I had work this morning.
I won't be subscribing to your channel given what must be a wide gulf between what you find entertaining and what I'd find entertaining. Chalk it down to cultural differences 😉.

You'd be better off not posting a review if you truly hadn't watched the entire series. It's misleading and clearly has led people to question your integrity and motives. I can understand that to a small extent, but since I specify in the title that I am reviewing the premiere, and verbally mention in the review that I only watched the first two episodes, I don't think I am misleading anyone. I think there are other reasons at play that have caused some viewers to question my integrity and motives in response to this video. I just finished "Supacell" and coincedentally, I just happen to rewatch the series "Heroes" last month, and "Supacell" is pretty much a knockoff. Even the worst bad guy, Krazy, steals the others powers like "Sylar" from Heroes. Maybe thats why the show seems familiar to you.

Skylar from HEROES is a murderous version of X-men’s Rogue.
DC’s Deathstroke is Marvel’s Deadpool. Writers borrow/copy all the time. Jason Bourne is the male version of Geena Davis’ character in the film The Long Kiss Goodnight.

I found this series extremely frustrating and badly written. While it’s amazing to see Black people with abilities, there was too much going on. I can’t take the overly pretentious slang (we get it, Top Boy was a thing). The characters leave much to be desired and the story was…underdeveloped. However, it has potential to grow. Unfortunately, Hollywood doesn’t do grace periods. You’re right, focus too broad.
I wish they educated on the statistics for Black people and sickle cell anemia, what a lost opportunity to build a world around that.
Idiot characters, wanna be thugs, zero consequences for murder in the middle of the daytime. Argh you can tell this was written by a rapper. We mustn’t be so pressed for representation that we accept just anything. For me, it was a 5 out of 10. Needs work and definitely a writers room.

Secondly, he complains about how the show SHOULD talk about sickle cell. GTFOH!! It’s a work of FICTION not a health service announcement from the CDC. Trolls like this can’t just quietly watch a show and stop because they aren’t feeling it. No. They have to complain LOUDLY hoping viewers won’t even give it a chance. People watch it for yourselves!!
Disgustingly disingenuous review that does a grave injustice to the show, actors, everyone behind the scene, and the people who deeply resonate with this particular depiction. I never leave a comment but this blatant dishonesty is egregious. Not to mention the moral grandstanding and talking down to the viewer while using bible versers as angsty ammunition. Genuine 0/10 effort. Please seek other trustworthy opinions, or better yet, make your own.
