Youthanasia is so fantastic! I wish i could find this on vinyl for a decent price. I keep the cd in my truck and listen to it from front to back often. Family Tree, Youthanasia, and Addicted to Chaos are excellent but the whole album is 10/10 for me.
Megadeth has been one of my favorite bands since I started listening to them (2006). Dave Mustaine is a survivor of so many life threatening situations that it baffles me! I'm so glad he is still writing and playing great metal music. Here is my ranking: 1. Rust In Peace (personally my favorite musically and objectively the pinnacle of their musicianship) 2. Endgame 3. Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? 4. Youthanasia 5. Dystopia 6. The Sick, The Dying...And The Dead (surprisingly solid album! It goes out with a badass song titled We'll Be Back) 7. Countdown To Extinction 8. So Far, So Good...So What? 9. United Abominations 10. The System Has Failed 11. TH1RT3EN 12. Killing Is My Business...And Business is good (production quality honestly hurts this one for me) 13. Cryptic Writings 14. The World Needs A Hero 15. Super Collider 16. Risk
It seems we are the same age. I had similar high school experiences with this band. This Darkened Heart and Fall of Ideals all my friends listened to riding around in our shitty cars. Great times. Thanks.
I get why people like it, it just isn't my favorite on the album. That whole bridge section is solid, especially the leadwork at the end of it before the last chorus.
I'm on the fence about doing a split one where one video highlights their first 5 (their golden years) and then another on their last 5. Some rankings feel redundant because they'll largely fall in line with general consensus, but I do plan on tackling Metallica soon.
I love Megadeth a ton too, besides Super Collider, every album I pretty much like or love. I mean it's my number 1, so that's really shocking! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand you got me SMH - I love Chris' solos on System Has Failed but it doesn't have too many memorable songs to me - Hero is a favorite, I think it's overhated, Disconnect, title track and Dread and the Fugitive Mind are my favorites - Wow Th1rt3en is very high, to me it's pretty bland but I like a few tracks, and production is quite good - Youthanasia is so amazing to me, every song is a memorable catchy banger - Rust in Peace is THE Megadeth album. Holy Wars or Tornado would be the best way to introduce someone to Megadeth to me. - Would you ever make a video listing the albums you consider 10/10's? Dude I'm loving these comments so no sweat. I'm still feeling out their new album but I'd probably put it around 11 or 12. It's solid and has excellent musicianship but nothing really groundbreaking....like a mix between Dystopia and some of their older albums too. Dave's voice just isn't what it used to be, and I don't hold that against him considering age and surviving throat cancer. As for perfect albums....I have very few since it's a narrow and personally subjective standard of mine...but I probably will at some point do a series where I go into why some albums are perfect are near perfect. Depending on the ranked video, you'll see a few where my #1 is clearly a special album that changed my life and perspective as a musician. High school was when my metal roots really took hold too so enjoy the journey and thanks for giving a sh*t about my thoughts too haha.
