This scene is stylistic perfection. The mood the visuals the emotional element brought by the actors facial expressions. Heat is easily one of Michael Mann's best movies.
Godzilla52 one of the best films for me so far and I’ve seen a lot. I don’t know how to describe it but there’s been trend setters in action romance epics whatever this film really touches me. It’s so much more than the guns and the badassery, the human element is so present ( everyone’s personal lives their stories etc) holy wall of text batman ! I know ... passion
This scene perfectly surmises the antithesis of the ideology that auteur films cannot be cool and flashy. With the right amount of everything, this scene overstimulates your senses in a good way like a cup of joe in the mornin.
I think about the scene where Pacino tells Hank Azaria "you are extradited to Newark on a New Jersey warrant for smuggling cigarettes from North Carolina three years ago" at least once a week
This film is so underrated in my opinion. It doesn’t get a mention when you’re talking top 10 amongst film websites or critics. This is 100% amongst the top 10 films of all time. The music, the actors, the scenes the buildup, the dialogue, the cinematography, everything is legendary.
Im a Brit. I did that! I made sure the track was on my iPhone before I left blighty. I was on the I10 eastbound though not the 405 like Vincent Hanna. If you don't make it you can always do it on the M4!
I’m a California native almost 40 years and I absolutely HATE driving around LA. I avoid it as much as possible. There have been some places getting off and and on the freeways that are so damn dangerous where I’ve came so close to getting in a car-wreck multiple times. I think it’s the way these traffic engineers designed them in the old days…are not ideal for the speeds people drive these days, unless you are a local or have google maps on the whole time.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think I read somewhere that new dawn fades was supposed to be played during the end credits and god moving over the face of the waters by Moby during this scene. Thank god Michael Mann switched them.
When I went driving for the first time on my own after learning to drive, I played this song on the whole journey to my girlfriend’s house... she didn’t know I was driving up cos she didn’t realise I was confident enough to drive on my own at the time 😎

Dionisio: I was at a theater in the Midwest area of the US watching the theatrical release and the audience actually applauded at the end. Very rare, very deserving, and glad to hear this great film is global.
Who the fuck could turn down coffee after one of the coolest Italian Americans hires a chopper, a blues guitarist, a band, and a car just so they can meet up with you to see if you want coffee. I'm not gay but...i'm in love.
While this is a great scene and Al Pacino is Italian, the chopper was only for the film..there was no blues guitarist or band, just a musical score of 'New Dawn Fades' (Joy Division song covered by Moby) played over the acting, much like the voices were dubbed over to make it movie quality. Another fun fact...this entire film is a rip-off of "LA Takedown" from 1989, script and all..
@@999666703 Dumb final sentence and not a "fact", fun or otherwise. Both movies were directed by the same guy and clearly, Heat is a remake produced to give a much more high quality treatment to the story material, which deserved it.
Michael Mann is the best. I wish De Niro was young enough to have played 'Vincent' in 'Collateral' that would have been EPIC. TC did a decent job..but still
Frankyhollywood68 Deniro was actually considered (or offered) the role of Vincent, as was Colin Farrell, Russell Crowe and Edward norton. But I agree. Deniro would have been beast.
Norton, by far, was the worst option. De Niro was a bit too old for the role like that. Farrell was good, but not THAT good. I think Crowe would pull it off nicely, but Tom Cruise did one of the best performances in his career.
Yeah you're right ! like the robbery of bank of america in 1998 the police forces found a video tape of HEAT movie in the VCR during the perquisition of the robbers house after the robbery, whowever but for me this movie is the pure art of cinema the best ever made, micheal mann is a genius.
Houston/Galveston area does this all the time, but instead of choppers they are using stealth drones. I heard they are even using satellite imagery for the really heavy hitters...

This scene has its own fanbase.
It is a cool and bad ass classic!
Yes it does

I agree
Understandably so.

Ethan Robbins definetly
I love watching Al Pacino driving down that warm, dry, LA desert freeway at night!

the movie always has an atmosphere like at night and this scene is spectacular
The final echo of the 80s, distilled into a single scene.
This is pure Miami Vice.
The Blade Runner of Crime Films. "Heat" is a masterpiece.
Hard to believe this is 25 years old and still good
It could of been made yesterday.
Better than any modern one
2020 and this movie still is in my top 5. The bank shoot out still wakes up my neighbors.
"what are we on?"

I just love this movie so much random dialogue pops into my head at any time.

For me it's "I say what I mean and I do what I say".
I must have watched this like 80 times since 1995, and with surround sound on? Goosebumps!!
Best musical scene ever in a movie. And the Equalizer brought me here as well.👌
Such epic music for such a simple driving scene, I love it

Moby just rocks. I'm sorry if that upsets you
I loved playing this song driving on the highway at night between Abu Dhabi and Dubai…
Came here because I just heard that song in the Equalizer, immediately thought of this scene. Michael Mann's music always fit's the scene perfectly.

Great scene. Great Joy Division cover by Moby, must check out the full song.
