I feel this song in particular deeply. I have an autoimmune disease, lupus. My best friend has lyme disease. I'm familiar with the depression and mental illness it can cause. I'm 64 and I've been deep diving on ren for about a week now. He is absolutely amazing.
That's a damn nice comment right there. I'm 48 and I doubt Ren or anyone else could ever become thee "artist of my lifetime". That phrase is a little too odd and singular (?) for me personally. But I do understand that sentiment. He has certainly bowled me over. Respect.

Excellent, excellent reaction! I've been sharing Ren songs with my sister, who is a therapist. One of the modalities she uses is music therapy, and recently she told me that she's been sharing Ren with some of her clients, especially one who is suffering from Lyme disease, like Ren. We both grew up in a pretty dysfunctional family, on the "wrong side of the tracks," and had a lot of issues ourselves. So Ren has definitely resonated with us! Thanks for the reaction, and subbed! 🤠

What you shared in your reaction leads me to believe that you have often acted as your brother's keeper even outside of the group home sitch. Thank you for that too. You would probably enjoy his recent release, "Troubles." Great track, and he just released a live acoustic version as well. Both are great. My favorites this week are "Illest of Our Time," "Murderer," "Ocean," and "Seven Sins." Edit: just saw your Troubles vid, i thought you'd get it. I am waiting for you to land on seven sins. “Have you ever felt pain… stomach wrenching unrelenting…” and I know from your first reaction video that you know the physical pain he is describing. I see you are working your way through the classics that made us all super fans. Might I recommend watching his 1 million viewer video with us cause that gives you a taste of why we all are super fans. Ren is so good. Believe it or not, he was in a slight diss battle with King Dotta where Knox Hill was in as well. Knox beat Dotta but Ren finished him. In a good way. You should check it out.
Ren's by far the most talented musician I've been introduced to in the last 30 years. He's a really admirable man, too. Ren has written and read the sory of his 8 year nightmare with getting a diagnosis and treatment for Lyme disease. Thise Chapters can be found on his other channel Renmakes stuff. .Yoy done have to react to them but yoy coyld lusten to them. Ren wanted to a story of hope for those who are still in the dark and missing from life due to chronic illness. He is fulfilling a promise he made when he was trying to break free. Ren is such an inspiration. He is music.
Ren was treated for psychosis (being given meds which did more harm than good) which was actually caused by undiagnosed Lyme disease, which wreaked havoc on his mind and body. He's since been going through stem cell transplants, which has helped him.
Ren is a relatable voice for everyone dancing in the darkness as he eloquently, with all the authenticity of someone who is painfully familiar with it, lets us know that we are not alone and inspires us to keep dancing. And in doing so, Ren has literally saved lives with his art. I see that you have already checked out Sick Boi and Troubles so I will just add a suggestion to check out one of my personal favourites that doesn’t get nearly as much attention as it deserves: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning. And a little help to guide you on your journey: While I’m sure plenty of people will tell you to react to the trilogy of tales in the correct order, it is often overlooked that there are a few other songs best done in order of release (though doesn’t have to be in one sitting): Freckled Angels -> Suic!de -> For Joe. I can't remember what the disease is that he has but he spent a large portion of his life being misdiagnosed and it cause him a lot of pain. The dude has a really cool story. Which is cool because he's a great lyrical storyteller.
He is a beast on his Fender Telecaster, bass, acoustic, classic and piano and has a beautiful voice that can do any genre. Besides the story telling that is. 😊
Lyme disease. Spelled correctly. Bitten by a TIC. A very nasty and poisen insect that give you infection and with no treatment you can slowly die. It attacks every part of you inside, even the brain.

All these mentally-ill people you're analyzing. Hey if you have a minute, could you show your Master's Degree? Just a few frames of you panning to the wall on which it's mounted or pick it up and show your followers. Visual and audio verification of qualifications are the best building blocks for true, sustained success. Grow your brand my friend. Your credentials make you sustainable in business. Not the piece of paper but the verification of your word.
Friends University Wichita, Ks Masters of Science Degree. Class of 2009 Cohort 35. took BSRB test 2010 MFT Certified. Bachelor's of Science Criminal Justice Friends University class of 2007. Either people going to believe it or not. I don't have time to be lying on stuff like that and everything I worked for to prove anything. (NO OFFENSE) And I stopped because after 6 years and working in group homes helping mentally ill people got burned out. And when you have all the stories in your head and see the things we see and hear from singles couples families trauma dual diagnosis etc. Or people who dont want the help no matter the model of therapy we use. Gets highly stressful and many of night without sleep. Trying to help. And then you realize it's all about money in the end. I diagnose them with say Bipolar disorder and write the code. But the code they (the company) wants gets more money for aid etc. Went on to work as. Federal probation officer that all came to an end for many of us in 2020 which we all know what happened that year. Had to let case loads of minor offenders go. Couldn't go into courts etc virtual this and that. Most of us took the furlough instead of trying to hunt them all down. Changed phone numbers addresses etc. 😂 ain't getting them back.
Loved your reaction! I LOVED the symbolism of the lights flickering. I have always thought the flickering is to show when Ren's "shadow" is present. So at the end when he is standing and wooing and the lights are going crazy, I interpreted it as the shadow and the self are finally one to show that we can befriend our shadow to move forward in life.
I usually cry to this song because of Ren’s messages, but this time, it was your words at the end that made me release tears, and not in a bad way. Just hearing that getting the mail is a victory if you’re in bed (which is exactly what I did just before you said that!), and the incremental steps to other little (but oh-so-very-big victories) is so validating to hear. ❤

I'm 66 and living with chronic pain. Hearing him say "Complete the Goal" had an impact on me as well. My 91 year old mother with dementia lives with me and some days are very difficult. It's easy to lose who we are and we can't let our illness or pain define us.

1:12 I don't know the musical terms to communicate what I hear with the bass note and plucking rise and fall, so I'll just say the initial melody (?) is a very old and traditional standard that you can catch in almost all music from different cultures. It's basic structure and format is one of many core principles from which to expound upon. It's not Eminem: It is music. Ren is a once in a lifetime artist and i don't say that lightly. You have no idea the rabbit hole and the amazing music this man creates. Singer, rapper, producer, songwriter, poet, bard, self taught on the guitar and other instruments, independent.... 💙💙💙

Ren has written and read the sory of his 8 year nightmare with getting a diagnosis and treatment for Lyme disease. Thise Chapters can be found on his other channel Renmakes stuff. .Yoy done have to react to them but yoy coyld lusten to them. Ren wanted to a story of hope for those who are still in the dark and missing from life due to chronic illness. He is fulfilling a promise he made when he was trying to break free.
Ren is such an inspiration. He is music.
Ren was treated for psychosis (being given meds which did more harm than good) which was actually caused by undiagnosed Lyme disease, which wreaked havoc on his mind and body. He's since been going through stem cell transplants, which has helped him.
I was forced into an early retirement from mental health... this song is so layered in the struggles and truths of the battle

What I like is the high singing at the beginning seems like a lament but at the end sounds like rejoicing.
Ren is a relatable voice for everyone dancing in the darkness as he eloquently, with all the authenticity of someone who is painfully familiar with it, lets us know that we are not alone and inspires us to keep dancing. And in doing so, Ren has literally saved lives with his art.
I see that you have already checked out Sick Boi and Troubles so I will just add a suggestion to check out one of my personal favourites that doesn’t get nearly as much attention as it deserves: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning.
And a little help to guide you on your journey: While I’m sure plenty of people will tell you to react to the trilogy of tales in the correct order, it is often overlooked that there are a few other songs best done in order of release (though doesn’t have to be in one sitting): Freckled Angels -> Suic!de -> For Joe.

I can't remember what the disease is that he has but he spent a large portion of his life being misdiagnosed and it cause him a lot of pain. The dude has a really cool story. Which is cool because he's a great lyrical storyteller.

Lyme disease. Spelled correctly. Bitten by a TIC. A very nasty and poisen insect that give you infection and with no treatment you can slowly die. It attacks every part of you inside, even the brain.

Trying to reason why he still needs him, and how he provides a service, giving him perspective, but then saying “you are nothing and cant get acknowledged”. It’s just a beautiful piece

Hey thanks for the review! Wish I could watch this again for the first time. Maybe that's why I enjoy reactions. I'm very curious why you stopped helping "them". All these mentally-ill people you're analyzing. Hey if you have a minute, could you show your Master's Degree? Just a few frames of you panning to the wall on which it's mounted or pick it up and show your followers. Visual and audio verification of qualifications are the best building blocks for true, sustained success. Grow your brand my friend. Your credentials make you sustainable in business. Not the piece of paper but the verification of your word.

Either people going to believe it or not. I don't have time to be lying on stuff like that and everything I worked for to prove anything. (NO OFFENSE) And I stopped because after 6 years and working in group homes helping mentally ill people got burned out. And when you have all the stories in your head and see the things we see and hear from singles couples families trauma dual diagnosis etc. Or people who dont want the help no matter the model of therapy we use. Gets highly stressful and many of night without sleep. Trying to help. And then you realize it's all about money in the end. I diagnose them with say Bipolar disorder and write the code. But the code they (the company) wants gets more money for aid etc.
Went on to work as. Federal probation officer that all came to an end for many of us in 2020 which we all know what happened that year. Had to let case loads of minor offenders go. Couldn't go into courts etc virtual this and that. Most of us took the furlough instead of trying to hunt them all down. Changed phone numbers addresses etc. 😂 ain't getting them back.
Loved your reaction! I LOVED the symbolism of the lights flickering. I have always thought the flickering is to show when Ren's "shadow" is present. So at the end when he is standing and wooing and the lights are going crazy, I interpreted it as the shadow and the self are finally one to show that we can befriend our shadow to move forward in life.

I usually cry to this song because of Ren’s messages, but this time, it was your words at the end that made me release tears, and not in a bad way. Just hearing that getting the mail is a victory if you’re in bed (which is exactly what I did just before you said that!), and the incremental steps to other little (but oh-so-very-big victories) is so validating to hear. ❤

I'm 66 and living with chronic pain. Hearing him say "Complete the Goal" had an impact on me as well. My 91 year old mother with dementia lives with me and some days are very difficult. It's easy to lose who we are and we can't let our illness or pain define us.

1:12 I don't know the musical terms to communicate what I hear with the bass note and plucking rise and fall, so I'll just say the initial melody (?) is a very old and traditional standard that you can catch in almost all music from different cultures. It's basic structure and format is one of many core principles from which to expound upon. It's not Eminem: It is music.

@@FaceFamous It's a personal preference I guess. I've seen a good many reactions that don't bother to analyze the song by dissecting the lyrics every third line of every verse, and for some odd reason I find those more enjoyable. To each their own!
