How to send a Canva newsletter with MailChimp

- This tutorial will walk you through how to send a newsletter you created in Canva using MailChimp. This is how I do it. There might be a different way, but this has worked for me.
I cannot tell you what a lifesaver and godsend this video was! Working as a volunteer for a charity and trying to work out how to do this was driving me loopy - your video was easy to understand, hugely helpful and so appreciated (plus all our subscribers got their newsletter on time, yay!)

Hi Amber - I have been searching for hours for a comprehensive video like this one! Thank you - it was very helpful. I just want to make sure that there will be an opportunity to update the footer information, correct? The company info, unsubscribe, etc.
Hi Katina! Sorry for the slow response! I believe you should be able to click that section in MailChimp and edit it. It would be in the same area where you are editing the sections of your newsletter, but there is a footer portion.

Amazing video and super helpful. the only thing I can't figure out is how to create multiple links on a single page for the email. For example, I like to add a summary and then provide a "button" to learn more. And sometimes I have multiple buttons on the same page. Is there any way I can add multiple links on the same page associated with the correct button?

This video has been super helpful so far my only part that I’m getting stuck on is the links that I have saved to Google Drive when I go to preview they are just bringing me to a preview of my newsletter and not the actual hyperlinks that are in the PNG or PDF versions I’ve tried both and I don’t know what to do next.
So have you uploaded the PDF to your Google drive? You should use the PDF to your Google drive and use the share link from there. Then you attach that on MailChimp to the PNG page.
But how you did attach link over the image 3:32 :) you have swipe to another image with links but still do not know how to add links over the image .
My MailChimp looks a little different so maybe I'm inputting the link in the wrong spot. Also, when I right-click in Google Drive I have "share" and then "copy link." When I follow these steps and send a test email, the image is one big link that opens the image in Google Drive. Any thoughts or other videos that may help?

Hey Tatiana! Thank you!! So if your Canva design has multiple links when you download it as a PDF those links should be active. So when you upload that file to your google drive it will have the workable multiple links. Then you just link that google drive file to your mail chimp campaign. Does that make sense? So when someone gets your newsletter and they click on anything it will open up the PDF version you saved in your google drive. Then they will just click the link they were wanting to click. It kind of adds a step for them, but I'm not sure how to do it differently using a Canva template. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Hi!! Sorry for the delayed response. I am using the free version of MailChimp currently. I do have an upgraded version of Canva, but I don’t think that should matter for this.

At 4:57 I got a little confused when you said "return to canva", I was a little confused.. is it return to mail chimp? neverthless, i have bookmarked to video to rewatch it. this is powerpacked video for sure

Thank you for this great video! Do you know if its possible to have more then one hyperlink in the newsletter? I added them in canva but they are not working in Mailchimp. I tried what you showed and I am wondering if I did it wrong or if its just not possible. Thank you!
Lianne I am so sorry for the slow response. I became ill and then my entire family caught it as well. (I have four kiddos) So the only way I know is how I showed in the video. So really you save the PDF of your newsletter from Canva that has the active multiple links into your Google Drive. Then the link you add to MailChimp is the Google Drive link. It's a bit clunky in the since that your readers will need to click the newsletter in the email and be taken to the external google drive and then click a specific link. Does that make sense?
I’m so sorry I didn’t get back with you! You should be able to have more in the PDF version. Then just save that to the Google drive and use the link for the drive in MailChimp. When they click it will bring up what looks like the same deal, but the links should be clickable. I’m sure you figured it out by now!! But just in case.
How do I fix when I click on mobile preview and its tiny and hard to read? It looks like it's viewing the whole as a picture instead of rearranging the formatting to look good in mobile view.
Hi Jenny! I'm sorry for the delayed response. I was sick and then subsequently my entire family got ill as well. Are you loading each page of the PDF individually into Mail Chimp? Maybe you've figured this out already, but if not I'm happy to troubleshoot with you.
Super useful! Although all my links (that is correct in Canva and in the pdf) gets wrong and they all pointing to my Google Drive?!! Anyone know why?
So once you set it up in MailChimp and click the newsletter or a “link” in the MailChimp version, it will take you to the PDF version saved in your Google drive. Then a person would need to click the specific link again. It’s wonky! Is that what is happening? Or is it taking you somewhere else all together? Make sure when you create your Google drive link that you change the privacy as well. That might make it seem strange.
Every time i export the image from Canva it comes into mailchimp in a weird (very thin size) How do you prevent that from happening?
I’m sorry I didn’t see this sooner. Are you using a newsletter template in Canva? I wonder if it’s a sizing issue in Canva. Maybe check your dimensions there and see what they are saying.

Sorry for a slow response! Yes it should. The links should show up in the PDF version in your Google Drive.
This doesn't work for me. I don't have the get link option in google drive, I can only copy the link. When I paste it and test the newsletter it just opens the pdf in google drive. 😩

When the PDF opens are you able to click the links within the newsletter? I think copy and pasting the link is probably the same idea. I’m not sure why it’s different. But it should open the PDF in Google drive and then the links become clickable.
how do i send a link out for people to subscribe?
I've made clickable buttons on each of the images i uploaded to mailchimp, any way i can just make those buttons clickable, instead of the whole page?
Sorry for the delayed response Wesley! The only way I know how to do that is the way in the video. So download what you created as a PDF and save it to a google drive or somewhere similar and then link that link in mail chimp. So your viewers will click the page and it will open the PDF saved in your drive and then they will be able to click on the buttons you created. It's not totally seamless, but it gets he job done.
