I love the metaphor at the end. I cannot find it in the suttas - perhaps someone could help? Regarding what the water might represent, I don't think it's just our awareness, I think it's all our khandhas. And the water would be better off not in a static lake, in that case, but as a river - always flowing. Ajahn Chah used the metaphor "still water flowing", which may work even better than what I just mentioned :)
Long time listener! Since 2004 ❤ this is probably not the most appropriate place to post but if anyone knows, let me know. where’s the best place to retreat near NYC? Anyone know. I’ve never done a retreat after all these years.
