Tajikistan is undergoing a complex reform to enhance its healthcare system from its Soviet legacy. The country is transitioning from a highly specialized healthcare system to a primary oriented care delivery system. The medical education system is also undergoing a reform to ensure a supply of well-trained family medicine doctors. The Tajik medical education system is restructuring undergraduate, postgraduate education, and continuing professional development programs in compliance with the recommendations of the World Medical Education Federation.The ongoing educational reform could have placed more emphasis on developing faculty pedagogical skills in nursing schools. The medical education reform should seriously consider and focus more on faculty development to offer competency-based learning, self-directed learning opportunities, and focus more on clinical skills.
