Josh my cash in hand is sufficiently pay down my 3rd unit as the loan balance of 45% when it is TOP next year. The only 2 streams of income I lack of are Dividend Income and Insurance Annuity income.
On the way to plan and top up to ERS when I turn 55.
Thank you for sharing the details! I will keep working on to climb the ladders up on areas that I haven’t achieved. 🎉

Something to think about is whether you want to leave an inheritance to your kids. If you don't then you get to spend more for your retirement.

It is how we prioritise the needs, wants and good to have in our life.
If there are alot of wants in life and expect to sustain that sort of lifestyle in our retirement period then expect the retirement cost to be high.
If from the start we maintain a simple lifestyle and keep on saving and find ways to save even more then we can build up sufficient capital for retirement.
Alot of people out there view that they need to have at least 5k/mth salary in order to survive at the present moment.
When u plan to sustain a 5k/pax lifestyle & take this sum and factor in inflation then of course youll need a much higher sum for retirement!!

All commoner should start part of their retirement starts from the 1 st day of working life, when more and more commitments starts rolling in the more stressful to start or plan in a rightful mind. Not forgetting both employer and yr health as u age will not give you a chance to work . The world economy is getting stringent. The age of unemployment is getting younger , so 20 yrs down the road you could be facing early forties getting jobless while basics job like grab or delivery may not exist . Look at China now will and might be a day how Singaporean would be. Save and invest as much while young not wait and wait.

Nah I think is most of them can afford it. The bigger question which Josh didn't address is what to do after retiring early? That's also the FIRE shortfall. You end up retiring at 40 but going back to work at 45 cause your work is your passion
😊 own a portion of the piece of land vs hdb which you don't. Good and bad. You can enbloc hdb can't. You have to pay market rates for services HDB use mass cheap services.
Cars are all about timings. We know COE quotas while there are 650k is not evenly distributed across the 10 years hence this effect. Flip back to 2013-14 COE news and it's the same HIGH.

If, I only manage to get 1.5% at such good interest rates now, how much will it be then if the interest rates dip?

Long duration is what I do as it gives me certainty for retirement planning. If you don't mind investing in USD, the yields are usually higher.
