- Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced on the floor that she will not seek re-election to a leadership position.
Pelosi, the 52nd Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been in Congress, representing California’s 12th Congressional District, for over 35 years. For 19 of those years, she has been in Democratic leadership.
Pelosi was also the first woman elected to the speakership in 2007.

Nancy Pelosi broke barriers as she became the first female House Whip and Leader Love her or hate her, as you obviously do, she was a force to reckon with. A little more than 100 years ago, women couldn't vote, sit on a jury, or serve in the armed forces. in 2007, Pelosi broke down the wall and became the first Female Speaker of the House, inspiring women, left and right, everywhere. You don't have to like Nancy Pelosi, but damn if she didn't change the landscape for women today and into the future. There will be a female GOP Spekar one day and she'll be thinking of Nancy Pelosi.

I'm so tickled Nancy is stepping down but I pray the one to take her place is not worse than she was. She blocked stimulus checks every step of the way. Alot of truly need another stimulus check. I'm on SSI and only get 600 a month to live on I would love these government officials to live on what I live on and then claim that we don't need another stimulus check. By the way that 600 also has not only myself but 2 minor children depending on it and we have no vehicle. We depend on our feet to go everywhere we go even to get groceries.
