I just love it because when his face lit blue it seemed there was a tad of anakin in the dialogue, then when he lit up red he started saying super dark things
Do you have any idea how many great ideas or moments were created by an accident that artists moved on when recognized? They captured and created that effect in the moment and rolled with it. Nothing wrong with that. Ideas strike all the time and what matters is that they captured and acted on it.
@@Chrondon yeah but in this context every aspect of this show was horrible. many reviewers site this bit of cinematography as like the only good part of the show so it's funny and poignant that it wasn't even by design
@@Chrondon I hear you. I understand your point. But for example compare this to Revenge of the Sith where Anakin is talking to Yoda about his dreams/visions. Where Ani's face is half in the light, half in shadow. I don't believe for a second that was by accident. Had to be the plan from the start.
"Hello there." This was a great touch during that episode. The blue illuminating his face made me feel for Obi when he realizes that he truly lost his brother. Then the red taking over to set the tone that that's the last we'd see of Anakin (until he comes around again towards the end of the prophecy and saves his son). This being an accident only makes this better.
I always found it as them showing the good that was in Anakin for a moment. He tells Obi-wan “I am not your failure Obi-Wan.” Almost like he is kind of giving Obi-Wan closure and get rid of his guilt. Then when Vader says he killed Anakin the blue goes away and the red glows brighter showing that Obi is only talking to Vader now.
Apparently the writers on the show were first timers and they didn’t grow up with the prequels or at least the Clone Wars show. Someone tell me if I’m wrong here.
It’s clear that the writers, showrunner and head of Lucasfilms don’t know shit about Star Wars, period. Prequels or otherwise. If they hired anyone that actually genuinely cared about Star Wars, this show would’ve been at least decent. But unfortunately…
As far as i have heard one of the writer (i think the lead writer) didnt watch the prequels and said he wamted to answer the question: Does Obi Wan know that the Name Vader is connected to anakin and that the sith he heard about is his friend ? He wanted to explore that.... In Ep 3 Obi Wan heard Palpatine & Yoda call Anakin Vader. In the old canon Obi Wan found out through the news that the Empires Enforcer Was Vader and knew instantly that it was Anakin. IT DIDNT TAKE HIM 10 YEARS TO FIND OUT THAT HE SURVIVED AND WAS THAT VADER GUY HE HEARD ABOUT
I remember when people were complaining about lightsabers putting light on character's faces, I was just shocked at how they were so stupid, what part of LIGHTsaber is confusing?
The blue light shining on him the exact moment when anikin let's his master know it's not his fault. Basically showing he wasn't vader for a split second
That scene had everyone on the internet acting like my high school English teacher. This just goes to show how fans often read waaaaayyy too much into things
Those of you who are like “this is marketing” and “there’s no way that was an accident” - you do realise that rehearsal is a thing? Whilst rehearsing they noticed how the light hit his face and it was an accident but it looked great so they played with it and leant into it more and then they lined up the shots for the actual takes after accidentally discovering this. Or, are you saying that Obi Wan is a liar? Like, are you just saying that McGregor goes out and lies about his life to the world? Is that really the character you think he has? Get a grip. This isn’t some white text on a picture of the joker and someone saying it was unscripted - this is the literal actor, a very well respected actor, one whose integrity I’ve never seen challenged ever in my life, telling the story of something that happened to him whilst making a thing… and you’re like, “naaah it’s fake bro: he’s shilling for Disney” Grow up.
Lighting in scenes is tightly controlled. MacGregor may not be aware of all the planning and engineering that goes into it. Its not even really necessary for actors to know all that stuff.🎉
Reminds me ofnthat old movie with the witch transformation. Used red to mask the red witch makeup and shift color for the reveal. Made it look like she transformed before your eyes
The only bad thing about that duel is Darth Vader failing to say when he almost bury Obi-Wan in the pit and not to say: Who has the high ground now Master? What a waste of a great pun back.
Still don't understand that in Revenge of the Sith Anikin had his armour and helmet put on while laid down and in Obi wan,he was stood up having the procedure??
They just turned one off and put the red on close to his face lol I love you ewan but you made it sound way more magical than what probably happened 😂❤
I SHIT YOU NOT, I put this in a comment on the clip of that fight scene on UA-cam, literally saying how cool it is how the light changes, I just had the biggest omfg moment, I feel awesome rn, thank you Obi wan 🙏🏼😆
im glad everyone looks back on the prequels more fondly now....yes they had a few lore issues but by god were the choreography and effects department on point, and the characters were amazing...compaired to the lightsaber bashing we have gotten in the sequals and mary sue'ish characters
There are no mistakes. Only happy accidents.
Another happy landing
What if someone lost their leg in an accident… 😶
That whole series was a mistake.
True, that's what the wise Bob Ross the painter said
I would argue that the entire Disney Star Wars endeavor has been a mistake
I loved how Darth had the mix color. Then went blue for a brief moment when obi wan apologized. Then he went full red once he accepted his Sith side.
I just love it because when his face lit blue it seemed there was a tad of anakin in the dialogue, then when he lit up red he started saying super dark things
It couldn’t have been better, even if it was planned. 👌🏼
I love how an accident became a very iconic scene.
So the best moment in this show was an accident, nice.
Can we even pretend to be surprised anymore?

Depressing. The lighting choice in that scene was the one thing I gave them credit for lol. Oh well.
Another happy landing
I was about to say that..
Your swords please.
One of the most emotional moments in the Star Wars universe. Clearly it was just meant to be ❤
Wish Star Wars would have done more movies with this guy
"Hello there."

“A wise Jedi once said, nothing happens by accident “
There are no accidents in star wars just the force at work...for good reason all things happen..
Probably the best moment
Ewan still looks in Character
Nice to hear some normal talk from someone from Star wars. No drama
In that scene Vaders eyes turn blue only for a second meaning anakin was there for a second
That scene, for me, was like one of the greatest scenes, it's up there with the original trilogy and epic scenes
LMAO REALLY?!
Obi wann Obi wannnnnn
@@oogabooga9100yes really absolutely 💯
The Force Surrounds Everything
The rocks. The trees. Hmm hmm hmmm. A powerful ally the force is.
Darth vader moments later: do you have any idea how expensive this helmet is?!

Im so happy that u vuuz came back and made this. My childhood finished
Ewan has such a nice crispy voice. ❤

That's hilarious given that that's not true and the show is about prequel characters... Do better this show was beautifu@@MajinLordVegeta
This show was pandering bullshit that completely wrecked the lore of Star Wars.@@nerdsoftheherd69

The most iconic moments in all of starwars were accidents haha
This episode made the Kenobi series worth the price of admission.
One of best fights ever. I hope we see more kenobi and vader especially ewan and hayden playing them.
_"There's an amazing moment at the end..."_
Agreed.
I remember when people were complaining about lightsabers putting light on character's faces, I was just shocked at how they were so stupid, what part of LIGHTsaber is confusing?
This kind of shows how iconic Star Wars truly is and how the best things that were caught on film could be accidents and that's the take they chose
love his Coruscanti accent
It was perfect, though, showing the transition from the light to the dark
A pure accident that went so well with the tone and everyone loved it!!!
So thankful for that scene!!!
The blue light shining on him the exact moment when anikin let's his master know it's not his fault. Basically showing he wasn't vader for a split second
Amazing how things light up in complete darkness.
That happy accident. Made for a truly epic moment. Showing vader more menacing journey down the darkside.
I'm glad they kept it. It signifies the faint bit of good light Anikin had in him but the red returns as he fully commits to the dark side.
That was probably one of the coldest accidents I've seen.💀
It added 9 levels to the scene.
There will never be a better Darth Vader than christian Hayden. And not a better obi wan Kenobi than Ewan McGregor
Didn't this actor play in the impossible? I love this actor
"This actor" is ewan McGregor. THE best Obiwan Kenobi in live action.
What does live action mean?
@@tuimartin5934it's the opposite of a animated work, if you will. Meaning it contains actual people portraying their characters.
Only the Sith deal in absolutes! Nothing is Impossible! 😂

I noticed that immediately and I’m tellin you I almost cried
Sometimes accidents are far better than the actual outcome
Put these guys in more star wars stuff! Legends
I always thought it was symbolism, seeing a bit of Anakin, then he realizes he’s Darth Vader again
Ok but light changing from blue to red matched the progression of the dialogues delivery so it worked.
Those of you who are like “this is marketing” and “there’s no way that was an accident” - you do realise that rehearsal is a thing? And that’s what absolutely made the scene!
That scene was amazing
Omg I discovered this on my own the other day but it's great to hear the reference
The animator who did it all:
Accident?
animator in the live action show? no they used light up sabers so the light was real
You think those are digital lights? What a nightmare it would be to create that.
The only bad thing about that duel is Darth Vader failing to say when he almost bury Obi-Wan in the pit and not to say: Who has the high ground now Master? What a waste of a great pun back.
Would have been too on the nose
Obi-Wan is the GREATEST JEDI OF ALL TIME
it’s absolutely insane how often darth vader has half of his mask cut open while his face is unharmed
Lmfao why did I have to watch this twice, the first to see what he was talking about and the second to see him talking about it. 😂😂😂
And when anakin says i will destroy you..... in my head, i could hear James earl's. Voice saying that
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
That fight scene was the most epic Jedi V Syth battle I’ve ever seen. Going to be hard to top that one in my opinion.
The last episode was perfect , would have been better as a film though
I gotta say though the blue and red lights on anakins face is a good resmblance of light and darkside
"You didnt kill Anakin Skywalker... I did" chills 🥶 🧊
The only best scene, it made me cry 😭👌❤️
Star wars, 90 percent accidents, 100 percent lore
Only good stuff from disney Star Wars were accidents.
Disney taking advice from Bethesda. Smart move.
“There are no accidents”
ya that scene is sick af
I just like how he slices the helmet the opposite side of where the hole appears and some how anakins brow and nose don't get touched.
These days, if Star Wars has a good moment, it's purely accidental
The best symbolism happens without wanting it to
Still don't understand that in Revenge of the Sith Anikin had his armour and helmet put on while laid down and in Obi wan,he was stood up having the procedure??
Back in a new hope this fight in the show wasn’t canon but now it is
another happy landing :)
No wonder it feels Genuine
It’s the scene that keeps making earth Vader a god instead of titan
They just turned one off and put the red on close to his face lol I love you ewan but you made it sound way more magical than what probably happened 😂❤
They call that the will of the force.🙏🏼🫡
There also an amazing moment at the start of a completely different move called TrainSpotting..
😮
I’d love a properly done season 2. No Kennedy. No Reva!
heres time travelling REY, enjoy.
That is nice 👍🏻 cool look 👀 lifesaver blue and red good and evil
Was not an accident, was the will of the force.
Best scene in all of star wars
So many people broke that down and analyzed it for hours thinking they had huge brains all for it to be an accident. That’s hilarious
A very once Jedi once said, nothing happens by accident

If it weren't for the lightsabers I would have seriously thought I was watching the first Godzilla movie😂
It mirrors Luke in ROTJ, Kylo in TFA, and the Ahsoka moment in Rebels.
If by mirrors you mean steals. Then yes.
Happy little lightsabers
I thing the show was is alot better then what people think
I thought it was intentional to show his struggle with both sides of the force.
Dayum! I’m glad it happened though.
Wait a minute, are they using real lightsabers?😮
They use sticks that light up now unlike before.
It works so perfectly because this is the TRUE moment that Anakin 100% became Vader, and the light change mimics that.
I wish they didn't do this on rebels as it it felt cliche, but damn, did I enjoy Obi One
There’s NO WAY that was an accident it was done post production
I remember saying that was a great detail.
It was an accident 😂
Its like you see what was left of anakin truly die
Wait... how? How is it timed so perfectly?!
