Pataal Bhairavi and Sanjog were hits mera saathi was a flop, sur sangam was a disaster Haqeeqat was a flop, haisiyat didn't work, hoshiyar was average, zabardast flopped badly. Her films down south were also failing this time. Specially Sur Sangam was a film which was a blockbuster in every language it was remade in except Hindi. Plus it didn't receive enough acclaim despite being a remake of a national award winning film so the failure of Sur Sangam was a big setback.
Actually, ye film Kadar khan saab ki wajah se jaani jaati h, kamaal ki comedy ki thi Kadar khan aur Asrani ne... mujhe yaad h mere home town dhanbad ke ek cinema hall (kumar talkies) me hording pe Kadar khan ka face sab se bada banwaya gaya tha, aur 2nd week ke poster me doosra kadar khaani hafta likhwaya gaya tha... waise ye film bani bhi achhi thi...
Us time aisa trend tha ki ek raat me hi 4 films dekhi jati thi. Maine bhi same night Swarg se Sundar, Muddat, Amrit aur Sanjog dekhi thi. Evening 5 pm se subah 4/5 baje Tak 😂😂😂. Bich me bhag Kar khana khate the 😂😂.
बजेट के 4X कमाई तो तो फिर ये फिल्म Block Buster होनी चाहिए ..... 2001 की कभी खुशी कभी गम ...40 करोड बजेट 50 करोड कमाईसे Block Buster हो सकती है तो ये ब्लाँक बस्टर क्यु नही है?
Distribution price par depend karta hai ki film ko kitna profit hua. Jeetendra and Mithun were big actors and inki movies acche price par bikti thi. Distribution price ke hisab se ye movie superhit hai
Kabhi khushi kabhi gam earned more than 50-60 crores through music overseas dvd and satellite rights. Purani filmo ke satellite rights nahi hote the, music rights was very less and dvd rights ki just shuruat hui thi and overseas market was very limited. So for old films recovery was based on theatrical business.
