I was brought up on UK TV where I saw Russell a lot and, ever since I grew up and got addicted to the internet, I've been a fan of Mark and Sam. This podcast is so great for seeing comedians from all over having a chat. Much respect for all three of you.
To me it's the nasally delivery that drives me crazy. Immediate geek vibes. Same with John Oliver. Can't bear either of them. And the way he keeps on talking about his mum, dad, and brother. No one cares!@@Scoobay
@@zootsoot2006 true...I think stand up in Britain is in shambles. Everyone seems to have the same irritating style. It's energetically thinking out loud with zero punchlines.
As a UK fan I can’t explain how I exited I am waking up on my day off too see Russell Howard on the pod! I’m 24 now and Russell Howard’s good news was a huuuge part of my childhood and teenage years, Russell if you do happen to see this comment would love to thank you for all the laughs and great times over the years! I love seeing my US comedy and UK comedy worlds colliding here. I’ve been a big Russell fan for a while and to see him on one of my fave US pods is incredible!
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Winnie is such a welcome addition to the pod! I love how she's cuddled up against Sam, so sweet! We need more pods with dogs 🐶💙Another great ep, btw!
Also, Normand, I feel like you need to cut back on the Jewish & Holocaust jokes, especially now. You're pushing waaaaay beyond ok, and I even sense Sam getting tense about it at the end of the ep. Fyi, this is coming from a place of love & respect.

Russell is really good at being a guest. I don't think I've said that about anyone else outside Norm Macdonald and Jon Hamm. Just a really great guest. Great conversation.
Fun fact, shaving pubes is actually an ancient tradition in some cultures, I believe Romans did. Victorian England they plucked their hairs out I believe.
1984 I was 9 yrs old. 3 weeks in England, Scotland and Wales. Took the hovercraft to Calais: 4 channels in Tv. Great pod! Enjoyed meeting Youngblood at Majestic in Dallas. Great set Mark
I hit that LIKE before this even started! So stoked to see Russell getting absorbed by the US comedy scene, thanks to BERT after being a fan for years!
SUCH A GOOD EPISODE! Russell was a perfect across the pond comedian to have on the pod. Nothing from Sam and Mark shocked him - he rolled with it and went harder! Always love the discussions in depth about the comedic industry. You all made this super informative while being yourselves! ALSO - Russell recalling Nick Offerman talking about how much he loved doing the pod with these guys - you absolutely love to see it!!! Comedians are the last stand up people in the industry!!!!! (Pun intended)
I haven't even watched the episode yet, but I wanted to say, I'm a huge fan of Mark and Sam, and I also obsess over Russell so I'm super excited to watch this. When I saw the thumbnail, I actually jumped up in excitement! Cheers from Ontario, Canada boys. 🍻
We had BBC America on satellite TV when I was 14-15 yo, and I would watch the original version of The Office years before the US version; no one else had heard of it, I never spoke to anyone about it, I just got to enjoy it as my own little thing. Then I heard they were making it here and I thought, “Not a chance, no way it translates.” I was very surprised and impressed how well it was done! Two different shows both of which I love
I really enjoyed The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar on Netflix and the reason I think it's so great is how faithfully he translates the source material, just like Fantastic Mr. Fox. He really does his best work when he has source material to rely on.
I liked it a lot. I remember reading it as a kid and Wes Anderson did an amazing job translating it over to film. The performances are great too. Really cool adaptation.
I didn’t really have much knowledge of stateside comedy growing up, other than Def Comedy Jam and their alumni. So I grew up watching a mixture of black American comics and British comics like Russell. All these years go by and my worlds are colliding, I can’t believe I get to see Russell linking up with Kevin Hart.
Faulty Towers was repeated on BBC Two all the time. He might be right that the series as whole of Monty Python wasn't on reruns, but I feel like there were a lot of clip shows when I was growing up, which would have been pretty close to when Howard was growing up. On an unrelated note, when Mark said he would mention stand ups in England and the English comics would turn their nose up, Howard, funnily enough would probably be on that list given as he's seen as very commercial.
No way Daniel Kitson played Spencer in Phoenix Nights: “not only did I give Mary and Joseph room in the inn, I offered them en-suite with a sea view of Galilee”😂
I saw Russell last year in chicago, it was one of the greatest shows I’ve ever been to!! Sadly, I missed him this year because I was spent from seeing Jimmy Carr the night before at the chicago theater 😢 Great episode though!! ❤😂
