I've been watching this on loop for about an hour and can't stop. Jokes aside, the song SLAPS. The lyrics are humorous but also really deep when you think about it. Sure he's talking about his... beans and mash. But it's really about finding his way back to his ex-lover. He literally can't read the signs in the metro to find the tube to get home because he's strung out on drugs and/or alcohol, but he also cannot "find the signs" to come "home" (i.e., he is lost in life without her). The scene itself is powerful, providing greater emotional depth within the context of the film. Losing his son in a custody battle and years of alienation from his estranged father have caused Aldous Snow (Russel Brand) to relapse and he has slipped into a deep depression. After some self-destructive, drug-induced escapades with his handler, Aaron Green (Jonah Hill), Aldous is self-loathing on a hotel rooftop and threatening to kill himself. But Aaron is there for him in his darkest hour, proving himself to be a true friend. Aldous, the crazy bastard that he is, decides to jump anyway but aims for the pool. He survives the fall with just a broken arm but when Aaron pleads with him to go to the emergency room, Aldous insists they head to the Greek instead. He confesses that he feels lonely, sad, and embarrassed but is reminded that thousands of his fans are waiting for him and he can't disappoint them. In spite of Aldous' self-destructive bender, Aaron finally "Gets Him to the Greek', which is where this scene picks up. Aaron has just quit on his toxic boss, Sergio Roma, and is about to ask Aldous (again) to cancel the show and get to a hospital when he sees how happy he is in his element. The only time Aldous ever really feels alive-aside from when he's using drugs as an escape-is when he's in the arena with the fans that adore him. He is bouncing up and down like a little kid, with the biggest grin on his face when he rushes onto the stage. Aaron smiles and heads home to his wife, knowing he did his job, not as an employee of Pinnacle Records, but as a friend. It's fucking beautiful.
This guy is one of the most awesome singers I’ve heard since the Beatles I cannot believe he did not choose a second career as a singer this guy should be singing every day I know these are parody songs but they are awesome and he looks awesome singing them
@@tones8675 Yes it is, are you kidding? Maybe no if you're a more Aaron type, with cheese and rainbows in your head, but as an ex-heroin addict, who used to fucking act like Russell did in this movie, it's....so goddamn emotional. So many times.
2022 and I still watch this movie almost every day. Good memories for me. This song is funny, incredibly emotional yet has the funniest lyircs. Best movie and soundtrack ever
Because it's fucking epic. Great soundtrack, decent performances, fantastic comedy moments and a great, realistic undertone of loneliness and vocational oppression. That's why, dude.
@@tones8675 no, you asked why it was iconic, to which I replied. You only stated it was in your reply. Pay attention to the words you actively chose to use. Facepalm. (I'm a fan of the T-Shirt part, though) ^_^
Dan Sharpe it's just- it's a phrase people use like "why is this pizza so good" or "why is this the greatest movie ever made" it's not us questioning why people like it it's just a way of saying we really like it thanks about the tshirt lol

Epic movie and song, an all time favorite. If ya fancy a good laugh and possible permanent brain damage, I did a silly acoustic cover of this a while back here at my place, it's pretty lame though compared to our boy Russell. Take care friend and don't forget to stroke the furry walls.
yeah it's sad broke up with my douche bag boyfriend for lying and making off with my cash funny too wish her would have loved me for how I took care of his bangers beans and mashed lol
Won't lie, Russel Brand would have made a killer rockstar
Infant sorrow is basically a real band
So he kind of is.
Russell Brand is a rockstar 🙌
Russell Brand is a real Rockstar bruh
That's what kills me! Why does he keep us from it? Is not fair! I want records and seeing him live
I think the same thing 😊😊Whew 😮😮😊😮😮😁😁🔥🔥💯💯

Awesome part of the movie. This song goes way hard

The only thing I've ever seem
To see is you!
Love, there's things I've never said
I need to get them off my chest
Before I'm dead
I feel so bloody dead
Another night you're on my mind
I'm hypnotized, I cannot find the signs
The signs for that you to come home
I need that you to get home
Another night, I'm here alone
These eyes so tired from staring at this phone
Why won't you call and come home
Please call and come home
I know that you won't come just for the cash
But will you come for my bangers, my beans and mash
Oh come for my bangers, my beans and mash
Oh come for my bangers, my beans and mash
*the signs for the TUBE to come home, I need the TUBE to get home.
Aldous snow and tucker crowe are my favorite singers of all time!

I feel so lonely when I hear that words. Poor aldous
Am I the only one here in 2020 and still thinks that Aldus reminds them of Freddie Mercury?
How is this song by a fake band from an old movie STILL better than any of the crap on the radio today?
