I love Amsterdam but not so much winter... but you made me fall in love with these beautiful views and heart warming music! I was surprised to see how many people were still riding their bikes in these conditions and the bikes stacked against the railing covered in snow became so beautiful.
We are a weird bunch over here yes, hehe. Usually, when people fall down from their bikes, it can take them 2 falls before they realise something like "Well, it's probably better to walk anyway in these conditions..." and walk for a while. But they will probably get on their bike again when they see a relatively well cleaned area :P.
In this video of over 6 minutes, filmed in Amsterdam, I believe I saw maybe three or four cars (not counting the cars that were parked) because everyone was either walking or riding a bicycle. Strangely enough, I also saw absolutely NO overweight people. Funny how that works.
What I like about Amsterdam are the tourists from all over the world. I was born 28km south of Amsterdam, in Breukelen BRKLN. When you visit Amsterdam try 'nieuwe haring' or 'een portie kibbeling'. Now I live in Hungary.
yep! 2010 sure was a harsh winter here in Northern Europe. here in Sweden too. I'm surprised the canals didn't freeze in. like they did in those renaissance and baroque paintings from the 1500's and 1600's

Plowing would probably be impossible to, because most of the small canal roads are not surfaced with asphalt, but with bricks, and they tend to be not so evenly lined out with each other (in other words, you would risk breaking the plow, even though all of them have little wheels keeping them "floating" just above the road's surface.) Usually the main roads in Amsterdam are kept snow free very well, the same goes for bicycle paths, but I'm not sure about the pedestrian area's next to homes. There is a rule in my city (not Amsterdam) that as a home owner you are mandated to clear the street surface of snow, so that people can walk safely without slipping.
could any one tell me which one of the months snow falls.i want to go on a vacation to amsterdam but want to go when it snows .wil be my first time seeing it.
yeah if your set on amsterdam in the snow watch for december till februari and follow the predictions snow happens once every 4 years or so but's it's not predictable , and maz your'e wrong actually when greenland melts it's snow it will alter the warm gulf stream from Florida to North Europe so if global warming really starts it first get's colder in this local area. It's kinda sad though because when global warming turns it ugly face people it will be tough to convince people the cold is from the global warming.

We did have snow in 2017 and 2016 tho but it was for only 2 to 4 days. :) it also under 0 for about one month on average in the winter in Amsterdam. But in 2010 it was for way longer one of the coldest winters I ever experienced. At nights it could be around -18 degrees Celsius and during the day it was almost always around -7 degrees or colder.
