Who was Sarah in the Bible? Get to know the story of Sarah, Abraham's wife.
Sarah, Abraham's wife and Isaac's mother, has her story told in Genesis. Before God changed her name, she was called Sarai. The name Sarah means "princess". Sarah was about ten years younger than Abraham and also his half-sister. Sarah joined Abraham when God called him, moving from Ur of the Chaldees to Canaan.

In Egypt, Sarah's beauty caught Pharaoh's attention, causing trouble for Abraham, but God intervened. Later in Gerar, a similar incident occurred with King Abimelech, which God also prevented. Living among pagans, Sarah was a sister-wife, holding higher social standing, according to the Mesopotamian laws.
Sarah was barren, causing her grief. Desperate to give Abraham an heir, she suggested he father a child with her servant, Hagar, a common practice then. However, Sarah, at 90, received a divine promise of pregnancy, resulting in Isaac's birth. Sarah died at 127, the only woman whose age at death is documented in the Bible. Mentioned in both Old and New Testaments, Sarah symbolizes trust in God and represents the mother of the children of promise.

Especially with having to have faith while God told Abraham to give up their only son, which proved all of their faith in and love for the Lord.
