One of the best...'the Southern Gentlemen, Sonny James. I never had the opportunity to see him live, but I spoke to him on the phone, and played everyone of his hits on the radio. A great voice with a basket full of #1 hits. RIP Sonny! Thanks for blessing my life.
One of the legend's of country music. It is incredible that so many are now gone. The stepping stones they laid for the new generation of "hot country." I got the surprise of my life when the Southern Gentlemen called me at 2:30 in the morning. I will never forget that call. I was green out of school. He made my day, and I have always enjoyed his music. RIP Mr. James!
Sonny James' gift was understanding how to produce recordings. He took songs from all genres and used his own formula for turning them into beautiful recordings that reached inside the musical minds of human beings. The musical sound he produced came out the way it was meant to sound. You can still appreciate the original version of each song, but for sheer beauty, you really need to hear each of them in the style they were meant to have had. The style of Sonny James.
Some of the best, pure, loving most affectionate music ever written, and such a wonderful blessed voce by one of the "greatest", Sonny James,,,,Downtown Rickey Brown, jackson,Tennessee
Thanks for elucidating me on the life of Sonny James. He had that smooth way of singing his Love Songs and in 1956 my girl friend and I adopted his song "Young Love" as our song because our love was just that..."Young Love". We were both 16 and we fell in love, at least for me it was several weeks later after I met 'Carole' and another couple of weeks when Carole realized that she had also fallen in love with me.We like listening to Sonny James, so we identified with his song..."Young Love". Thank you Sonny.
Room mate introduced me to Sonny in 1965 in college. What a beautiful voice and the songs made me smile way back then and do so again. He'll never be gone.....
I HAVE SONNY at the Houston astrodome and 28 other alblums.he was my idol and saw him 6 times in person.ACTUALLY met him in TOLEDO,OHIO.HE WAS A GREAT MAN AND A GREAT SINGER.RIP SONNY,I MISS YOU. DON
Correct. As for the bass, it was built for Milo by a now defunct Nashville-based company who took ideas and concepts from other brands and gave it their own interpretation. My dad can't remember the name of the company, but he owned a bass similar to this one, although the body was smaller. Those small companies were able to make their mark building for top industry players and the quality of the materials used rivaled anything done by the major competitors.
Just look at how well dressed Sonny and his group are. Today a lot of our singers look like tattooed rag muffins. Sad to see how all seems to be headed down hill and picking up steam. Loved Sonny James.
Sometimes I think the Good Lord must sit back and say, "Yeah, I got that one RIGHT!" That is how I think he must consider Sonny James. The ONLY singer in Sonny's class was Roy Orbison and the passed away much too soon.

Sometimes I think the Good Lord must sit back and say, "Yeah, I got that one RIGHT!" That is how I think he must consider Sonny James. The ONLY singer in Sonny's class was Roy Orbison and the passed away much too soon.
needs to be ivory joe
It's a small world, I bought 30 acres of land off of Sony's Lead Guitarist.
Great songs...but hey...what IS that weird bass guitar that is being played. Never have seen one like it.
THATS A CUSTOM LIGGETT BASS
Great singer. I just wish he didn't lip sync all of his tv performances. I'd like to see an actual live performance.
you noticed that too....... ;*)
Great singer, great song.....but he could of done without that gormless trio behind him.
🤣
what a huge bass guitar that is...and what a stiff choir in the background...very nice song btw...
my son thinks these are great THEIR NOT ODLIES TO HIM
Great song,Ivory Joe is a little better version.
