When you hear the common Loon it peaceful has a Primal sound to it. For me it awakens the Love for the outdoors. Nature is beautiful all you have to do is look, pay attention. The Sound of the Loon calls you were given a gift from Nature respect it and take care of it so those after us can appreciate it.
Man I love going camping up north and listening to this bird all day and fishing and sitting by the fire and eating pancakes and bacon and eggs in the morning, it’s so nice. I love Minnesota.
Love the sound of loons, loads of them no matter where you go up here in Canada. Crack the bedroom window open in the summer nights and get the best most relaxing sleep ever.
So peaceful, I hate living here, this helps me to feel as though I am away from this place. I would love a cabin in the country with Loons nearby. Hopefully one day!
The calls of the common loon is one of my favourite and always evokes the wild for me. The raven and bald eagle are close seconds...but nothing is more haunting than a loon at dusk.
If this beautiful bird with it's haunting song ever goes extinct.....we will have lost one of the most enchanting , mythical creature ever to have lived on this planet. I can't go to sleep without there call....the sound of the bay.....the stars.....the wind...., I have rescued and rehabilitated Loons.....there isn't a more Magical bird on earth......
When I was a little girl I would fall asleep at night listening to the loon calls when we were at the cabin on Lake of the Woods. Thank-you, this is nice.
A loon laid two eggs on my dock a week ago, but left them right away and didn’t return. Since it was getting very cold that night, the eggs ended up coming inside with me. I’ve now got them incubating away, and this track’s playing on loop for them, just in case they can hear it. Thanks!
@@MsPeperonata hi! Thanks for checking in. Unfortunately, they didn’t. I candled them (Ie holding them up to a light to check embryonic development) and alas, they’d failed to develop past an embryo. I made them a little nest near the water’s edge, and let them listen to the loons one last time.
One thing This Country Boy truly misses while living in the City is the cry of the Loon. So, I love sitting in my Home Office, as I look after our Watkins Products Business, and listening to this on UA-cam! Thanks for having it here! ;)
I grew up in Minnesota and I’ve always loved the sound of loons. It’s a staple of the upper Midwest in my opinion. Now living in Nebraska it’s a wonderful way to bring back memories at the lakeside while watching the sunset go down
And in your lonely flight Haven't you heard the music of the night Wonderful music, faint as a will o' the wisp Crazy as a loon Sad as a gypsy serenading the moon
Elsa Dickson Pike UA-cam sonic representation of loons is nothing like the haunted feelings you get in person, with the physical depth that that sound invades a vast space.
Outstanding! I sent my son in NY a UTube video of songbirds and water...and in the SUBJECT line of my email, I titled it Sounds of MN. He asked,"But mom....where are the LOONS?" Of course...our MN state bird silly me. Thank you for this...I will be glad to forward it to him.
Absolutely love loons. You might say I'm. " looney for loons". My home full of everything loons. Sign says welcome to the Looney bin. You dont have to be Looney to live here....but it helps. They are so majestic, beautiful. Faithful to lifelong mate, and one of Gods greatest creations. The Arctic Loon is gorgeous. Music to our eyes and ears...and lifts the heart...💕
Loons are magical. Enjoy their calls every night/day at olur cabin north of Rhinelander. Wouldn't be the NORTH without them. Educate yourself and help protect them. Loon Ranger, Karen Smout
Karen Smout cool I love to north woods so much, I used to live in Wisconsin myself and I miss it so much. Texas can't hold a candle to how awesome the north is. Oh, and hodags are awesome ;)
David Raddatz I grew up in MN. But have lived here in MO for 17 yrs. I miss hearing the Loon.. so many times I remember when I was young thinking.... How just another bird it was to me. I now understand just how privileged the northern states are to have such a beautiful bird to themselves.
I love this, though it makes me sad at the same time. There use to be two loons that lived on the other end of the lake we visit every year. However one of them passed away over the winter and only one came back this year. It's so upsetting because sometimes they just sit in the middle of the water and call out but they never get a reply because their mate is gone ;-;
I wrote a poem about a lonely loon. They mate for life and when one dies...what of the lonely loon!! It was very moving. I should find that poem and post it.. very dedicated to their mate. Die without them.
Thank you, thank you. It takes me back to a week I spent at Chairback Mountain cabins in Maine and being on the lake with the loons. I got pretty good at calling so one came to check me out!! I loved being in the forest when it was getting dark and the 'mad hsyerical' loon sounds.
I remember when I was a kid back in my Boy Scouts days I would go up north for the week in Kalkaska, Michigan to camp with my Boy Scout Troop and my tent would sit by the lake and I would wake up at like 5:00 AM every night to hear the sound of loons making their calls at the ass crack of Dawn. Being 12 years old I was clueless to what animal made this sound since it use to scare me XD
I went out to see the loons at the lake I live near and I started playing this video, and they popped up and replied!! Hoping maybe I can bring a head of lettuce out or some corn to feed them next time. :))
The only thing I hear at camp tlc is cow and coyote/dog and I hear water splash a little bit whenever I sleep in the fishing dock and I would hear frogs croaking
Every comment section in every loon video I've been to has been the same: "How is this haunting?" Welcome to the internet, folks, welcome. to. the internet.
Actually google "Free UA-cam Downloader" download and install it, then select audio mp3. after its downloaded, click "show files" find the file put in on desktop, then open itunes, plug in ipod, click "add file to library" then sync your ipod, then go to playlists, -recently added, and there ya go.
Mystery of mysteries is good, for those expressed emotions of our innocent and pure animals, still in tune with all their aliveness, is what we have lost in continuing de-evolution, - the whales, the sounds of the wolfs, the coyotes, the longing of the loons..you think this is all just by accident? they are calling us back!
You should redo this and have only soft waves and loon calls because loons are never around streams and it doesn't make sense since in nature you don't have waves and a stream together. this would be peacefull and beautiful but there are too many crazy sounds. Hope you take out the stream. You can do it if you audit the vidoe.
Was the water sound added? I've recorded songbirds from the forest and it's amazing how microphones that sensitive pick up noises as small as a passing fly. Loons are on water, so you're going to hear some water. To me it sounds like water lapping at the shore, which is normal for loons. The microphone was probably near the shore, possibly hanging out someone's window, and the loons were on the lake. That would mean a sensitive microphone that will make water sound louder because it's closer than the loons. Either way, I think it's a great recording.
Forest your a fucking idiot. What the fuck, you probably live in some fucking high rise aprtmnt. Look stupid, there are Waves in lakes, and as a matter of fact, if you'd been in the great lakes during a windy day you'd hear large waves crashing and hear the beautiful sound of the looked at the same time. So shut up you moron, and go back to your fucking high rise apartment.
+hoghaulerJake Sometimes a little silence is okay, that's the way it would be naturally. I would have preferred it or the water hitting the boat if trying for the relaxation sound. Saying that, if you didn't make a compendium of these loons, they sure a talkative bunch hehe. Thanks so much.
Arlyn Hibbard they can stay under water for 5 minutes and I live on lake Minnetonka but a boater went by so scared them away but I would of loved to hear the call.i probably would of fell asleep on my deck love that sound..so beautiful
This would be an amazing soundtrack if you ditched the canned babbling brook noise. Loons are found on lakes and ponds, not in running water and especially not in fast moving brooks and streams. Totally annoying.
I have loved lions and collected them for 50 years. So beautiful. Majestic, graceful and loyal.

Love the sound
I’ve been there too! However I remember hearing loons at any lake we visited.

Thanks for adding. There is no greater sound on this earth!
The word "haunting" is not a judgement. It is a description of how the sound moves you to depths of your soul.
Elsa Dickson Pike It also feels rather melancholy...both words are great describers of this wonderful bird's voice.

love the LOON call, but my favorite part, truly is that they "fly" underwater. GOD at work in all wonders!
I've never viewed this sound as haunting. It just sounds like an amazing, unique bird sound. I love it.
Night calls a little more so. Bit like coyotes.
I used to hear these at camp when my dad was the speaker when I was little , I loved going outside and hearing them.
From a CD that you purchase.
Loons are magical. Enjoy their calls every night/day at olur cabin north of Rhinelander. Wouldn't be the NORTH without them. Educate yourself and help protect them. Loon Ranger, Karen Smout
Just as I read your post, a loon was calling from Lake Mildred, and continues with its mournful call right now.
Karen Smout cool I love to north woods so much, I used to live in Wisconsin myself and I miss it so much. Texas can't hold a candle to how awesome the north is. Oh, and hodags are awesome ;)
Yes the Loon call is haunting, and very primal. Reminds me of my aunt's cabin in Minnesota, and living in Northern Wisconsin, my favorite.

I only wish there were morning doves in the background also. Then it would be a complete childhood lake memory. Nice thanks!

Beautiful, might snooze to this on repeat.
The first time I heard this I found it quite haunting. But when I heard it again, it sounds beautiful
Symbolises the wilderness to me.
Thank you, thank you. It takes me back to a week I spent at Chairback Mountain cabins in Maine and being on the lake with the loons. I got pretty good at calling so one came to check me out!! I loved being in the forest when it was getting dark and the 'mad hsyerical' loon sounds.

This is great. So relaxing.
Lovely peaceful memory of lakeside bliss.
I hear this every day when I wake up for school.

I don't think they eat corn or lettuce
I’ve heard that this bird is used in Michael Jackson’s Thriller as the scream after, “there are demons closing on every side”
We here this on lake Minnetonka.i love it
holy shit man I tripped to this tape like 20 years ago..crazy
It is fine to see Birds and hear loons crying
Beautiful. Thank you.

I feel this, Adirondack lakes. campfire. Life is good.
some bird calls that just make noise others like the loon you can't get upset about.
So relaxing.... Until the ad pops up. 🥺
I love loons

Is it bad that we used this to bring loons close to shore for photography?
i got this TAPE, YEARS ago at ll bean. "NORTHWOODS NIGHT"

Is there an Mp3 available to buy?
Are there any loons in calgary, I heard that there’s not that much anymore…
family guy brought me here.
Bruh wheres the hauntingly bad part?
Would really love to have this on my ipod. Can it be downloaded from anywhere?
Where can you get this in the south, no offense to southerners. We go to Florida every year sooo.
Camp Crystal Lake brought me here
love loons calling. you ruined it with the fake water rippling..
it fills in the gaps when you can't hear them. although maybe the sound of water hitting a boat gently would be better

Overdone: rumbling brook PLUS waves?
+Jay Winters---- its sounds like my weed bong ,,,,=^..^=,,,,
Any chance there is a downloadable version of this?
Not that I know of; I actually bought the CD a couple of years ago from a used bookstore, I'm sorry.

Not really haunting it's just sounds like something out of mythology
