#4 Heat and motion control board - Details of free filament production from recycled bottle (PET)
- Hi guys
I came to your service with another part of the tutorial on making a filament machine
In this part, I want to have a surprise, I and a friend of mine, Mr. Robert Sa, were finally able to prepare a special movement code and reduce the costs, so that I have already used another Arduino board to control the movement, but now we control both the temperature and the movement with one board, of course this project is being completed, I would like you to tell me your opinion about this system, so that in the next editions we can have a more complete product.

Instead of a ship IN a bottle, it’s a ship FROM a bottle, I like the play on words.
true jajajajaj
I do not understand what you mean, you mean I wrote wrong?
@@mr3dp no no, you wrote correctly, your video is a ship from a bottle. John Smith is referring to a desk toy where a ship is inside of a glass bottle.
@@isaacf.5166 ok. :)
@@mr3dp it is a play on words in English. Instead of building a ship inside a glass bottle(how they are traditionally put together) you took a plastic bottle and printed a ship from it. I like it :).
You're amazing to share this information. This product called: PET bot costs around $400. And of course people want to make money out of it, but you are very generious to give us the knowledge to build one for our own, without breaking the bank. Therefore I am very thankful and I support your goal and vision. Keep up the great work!
You're amazing dude, I really appreciate the efforts that you put in to make these videos and rebuilding the extruder and filament everytime to show everybody on how to do this step by step. Bravo! 👏👏👏👏✌️✌️✌️🙏
My pleasure!
Great work!
Can't wait to see more of your projects!
hello mr3dprint:
The truth is that in the first editions of this great project, the electronic / arduino part looked a bit complicated, but reading the description I understood why now it looks simpler. my greetings to mr Robert sa for having collaborated with you and making the project simpler and cheaper.
Greetings from Argentina and thank you for having shown it in detail so that the rest of us can do it too.
Thank you for your energetic comment.
im amazed by the quality you can achieve with this setup
This is amazing! I have zero parts to make this from, but I get through so many plastic bottles, it might just be worth buying it all!
You can do it!
Wow👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 that was impressive! I’ve been thinking about how to make filament but never thought about this way
You can do it!
Incroyable ! Cet homme est un génie. Congratulations from Paris.
Merci cher ami, vous êtes gentil
Awesome to see all the views now and members! Very nice and thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Cool it is the connection of the motor which was bad. Everything works perfectly as you present it.
Thank you for sharing your ideas with us.
Glad it helped
Wow, excellent video and full of resources, I'll try to make one at home, thanks 👍
I worked for a plastics company for many years and we had an extruder recycling plastic on an industrial level of course. You have the basic concept. you can run the heating side with a thermostat controller with a thermometer or even with a thermister, i use this, on the feed side, i join the plastic with a soldering iron to have a longer continuous feed. And i have a dc controllable motor on the take off side to roll on to a normal filament roll! good Work PM me for any help you may need
Heck yeah dude, thanks for helping humanity change the world! 😌🌎✨
Thank you for your energetic comment.
Dude youre a genius. This an instant sub, boutta watch all your videos
Thank you! Cheers!
Your diy direct extruder looks verrry intereresting, maybe you can show how you build it and how good/for what it works well :)
Thanks for another installment. I like the idea of using gCode instead of hacking support for constant movement into marlin like I was planning. For easier starting you should add the following line after the extruder is heated (this should pause the gCode so you can load the filament into the puller): M0 Press to start motor
Glad you liked it!
@@mr3dp do you know when the files for the winder will be available?
That is impressive thank you for this. I will try to re-purpose the water bottle as you have done it.
You can do it!
Thanks a lot man I was looking for information on this n ur videos were very useful ❤️❤️
Glad to hear that
Thanx again for your upload. Your content is awesome!!
My pleasure!
Your videos are so addicting to watch, subbed to you
Glad you like them!
Looks great! Super channel
Thanks for visiting
Excellent idea man😍
Now what u need is a successful filament joiner to make a full spool out of the pieces
Yes, you are right
Great job 😍 awsome print.
Thanks so much 😊
this seems like an interesting use for my spare ender 3 mainboard
Great work, nice idea👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Well I commend your work. Well done. That being said that's a ton of work for filament. Think i will stick with getting mine from Amazon. 😄
Go for it!
amazing, i cant belive, i'll do this
Excelente! Botella reutilizables para impresión 3D
I don't know.. I'm still on the fence about the whole process.. But each video I'm somehow more convinced..Nice Persian Rugs.
You can do it!
amazing . you are great . we need a video on wheel pull the wire
Ok coming soon
U did it again,thank you so much🔥😍👌👍
You're welcome 😊
@@mr3dp I'll send u pic when i make one💕👍
Aliexpress noted this.. i bet soon some bottle recycling system to filament will be out :) congrats for a nice video.
That would be cool!
Hi. You do great fun and work. Thank you. Subscription flies
Thanks and welcome
again you are awesome... very helpful info...
Thanks again!
another great video .
most people got the parts lying around from neally a decade ago lol
Cant wait to see how you make the filament roll maschine
For those not in the know you can use a mksgenl in place of the 2 boards as they use the same chips.
Amazing may God bless you !
you're amazing thnx for sharing 🙏🏻
Great video, thanks!
I really appreciate the efforts that you put in to make these videos. Not available files. could you please share your marlin version and gcode?
You are great i solute you thanks for sharing this type of ideas
Thanks and welcome
Hello, you make really great job !!! I learn so much from your movies !!! I have one questions: when i used the DIY filament from recycled bottle (PET), do I have to change my printer settings or can I keep them for PLA filament? (I have a Geeetech Mizar S printer) Thanks in advance !!
Eres el mejor! Saludos desde Costa Rica
Gracias
Amazing Video!
Hey mr3dprint, how you doing? Man, you made me take out the dust of my 3d print and get motivated again. I always wanted to make the 3d print usefull and now, with your videos, I can. Thank you so much. If you can, could you, pls, post your slicer settings? Thank you so much and congratulations for the videos and the amazing idea.
Glad to hear it!
Gracias por compartir tus videos !
Great work brother!😃 Your new subs.
Much appreciated!
Very nice how about if we have unwanted printed parts how do we can do the same ? Which nozzle size do you use to extract 1.75mm ??
super et bravo je suis admiratif
thx this is your best video to date
Glad you think so!
Keep it coming need, to know the puller mechanism, and then the finer points like how to get the first bit through the nozzle and tie it to that spring?
Thanks for sharing.
Will do!
hi, its amazing your proyect, can you share the setting that you used, i have a ender 3 pro, and its dificult to achive a good quality with this material, thanks a lot
Bravo! Perfect idea!
Thank you very much!
Great work! I wonder how precise and consistent the end filament is. Do you plan on adding a diameter sensor of some kind to compensate the extrusion on the fly?
I do not think it is necessary because it is diagonal, I may just put the motion sensor off when the tape is finished
Great job bro..
Thank you so much 😀
hello, you can only buy the drv8825 here in costa rica, I have not been able to find the a4988, everything else is exactly as in the video but the motor only feels like it wants to take steps but does not move
as always
thanks for material
My pleasure!
Do you think I could convert everything from my tevo tarantula pro I have laying around to do this instead of this board
Very good job
Dear friend, first of all, thank you very much for posting these beautiful videos. I have set up such a system by watching your videos. but now I want to add a filament sensor to the system. I couldn't do it even though I watched many videos. I would be very happy if you could help with this.🙏🙏
You are most welcome
I've been waiting for this video for a long time! can I give you an idea '?? why don't you try to make like a funnel so as to insert all the remaining filament bottle caps etc etc? something that automatically drops the filament to the extruder would be wonderful
huh? drops bottles caps into the extruder? Dont you mean into the heat block? Also did you mean to say.. to shred up the plastic bottle caps and then drop them into the heat block? If so the word you're looking for is a "hopper". OR are you saying for him to direct the filament into the extruder to print immediately upon making the filament instead of rolling it up on a wheel?
How does the filament print stick on the heatedbed glass?
Do you use anything on the heatedbed glass? At what temperature is the heat bad?
Can I change it to
Arduino uno r3 + extension stepper motor board +stepper motor + heater + sensor + Lcd Keypad shield (with 6 buttons on it)?
I've wired mine to my ender 3 and using the e stepper motor
how can be settings in marlin if we add a switch for filament running-out. as it gets a signal then shut the system off (motor and heat off )??
Can you do a video showing how hard, flexible or mechanical properties has pieces made used by this reclides filament from pet bootles? Great work luv it
Ok will do
@@mr3dp yep I'm also interested in the mechanical properties of PET filament
@@mr3dp send some samples to Stefan of cnckitchen :D
Very nice!!!
Thanks for the visit
Can you use any kind of nema 17 stepper motor? I have a 17HS4023S-23 and a 17hs4401s-pg518 laying around and was wondering if i could use them!
so does the g-code control the heater and the speed of the stepper motor
That's impressive!
How do you join the filament length for every different bottle become one filament?
Thanks dear friend, watch video # 1
no way.... unbelievable :O
from where can i got the motor and arduino Project?
thanks brother
hello mr3dp i saw your video and i found it well the way you created this operation to create are own filament 3D .so I decided to buy the same item as you and I even download the software to program the cards .but I have a problem I can not program the card don I wondered if you could help me. Sincerely Clément Tabert de France
Nice.... Bravo.
Thank you
Hi @mr3dprint and let me say, what an amazing idea and work.
I have a quick question, I have a 12v, 5amp and 60W power supply, it is going to work or do I need the 20A 240W one to make it work??
Thanks again
If you do not have a good power supply, you can use old computer power, I will make a video in this regard, be sure to watch it
Love your project!!!! please advise i get : "THERMAL RUNAWAY PRINTER HALTED please reset" why?
This problem occurs when the thermistor is not in place or is connected to the body, please check that the thermistor is in place so that it can report the temperature of the heater
Is it possible to use the Ramps 1.4 with raspberry pi 3 instead of Mega 2560?
is there by chance a wireing diagram? im confused about how the power supply is connected with 4 wires?:O amazing project! so into this ! but that part currently is stopping me from moving forward LOL
Tks a lot for sharing this
No worries
Have you worked with any bottles that are 0.65mm thick? and if so that are size does the ribbon need to be? thanks, Like before great work.
I am working on a PET filament welding/splicing device that run off of the same Ramps board but uses 2 extruders. One for the puller part and the second for the welding part. Thanks for the fantastic idea.
The maximum thickness I have worked with is a 0.5 mm thick bottle, for which the width of the bar is 6 mm.
Hola! Muchas gracias
You have to change the G code
Is amazing.
Hello dear Reza, Many thanks for your great job.
I have an Ender 3 pro board & screen can I use them in this project? If yes can I use the original g-code to make it work?
I do not know exactly, you should test to see if G-Code works with it or not, of course there are easier ways, the next videos will be about those ways
What is there in the memory that you put in the lcd screen
why my lcd does not show anything like 4:38 , I did exactly what the video show. in the arduino says there's some error.
okay , but is it necessary to have screen attached ? i think i can go with just rotary encoders for temperature and pull speed
Hello Mr 3d, excuse my ignorance about you don't have any diagram to know how to connect the cables between the power supply board?
Congratulations, I find it amazing that this material that produces so much waste can be reused..! A technical question..
It could be used instead of an Arduino Mega. the Arduino UNO without display to work in the same way? It occurred to me to facilitate the design for a school in my city that can recycle the materials, I saw that there are several that reuse PET bottles..
Respect✌
hi sir and thanks for sharing, I have question when you insert the SD card what do you have saved on it? I have followed all the step but no sure what is on SD card and if it is important for final setup
Yes, correct
Hello Mr3dPrint.
I have no words to thank for sharing this invention and I really want to make one for myself. It is brilliant.
Thank you very much really. I am following the process with great interest and excitement.
The world needs more recycling and less garbage, the oceans ...
Apart from making our materials cheaper, etc .. it's great :)
I have a simple question: I am very new to 3D printing.
Can I use the 2004 lcd instead of the 12864? It's a really insignificant detail, right?
I suppose it is a question of having the Marlin with the corresponding screen library to use?
Kind regards from Spain and I wish you all the best
My opinion to improve the project or to contribute ideas that you ask in the description, is that it would be ideal if crushed plastics could also be used and that it was not a complicated system. I guess it would be a different machine or a very different concept.
I mean in this machine a simple system that pushes crushed plastic is attached to it. Maybe I'm going a lot out of the original idea, I don't know, or maybe it's possible ...
This one is cool and simple, the other idea would also be great in my opinion and would use different plastics from different packaging ...
but with this philosophy of simplicity and materials within reach.
Much encouragement and thanks for the great contributions and the desire to share.
I do not know, but I think it does not matter, see if GCode works properly in your program?
