Yeah man, it came in handy for sure. Also 3d printed a template for the angles that were needed to be cut for the main frame build. Everything fit together like a glove and was +/- ~1-2mm at any given measurement.
Man after watching your video of how a pro builds a custom frame I'm kinda thinking my projects gonna be over my head! So a little back story since I probably got ya thinkin what is he talking about..... I have a Tesla Model 3 that's completely destroyed but has good drivetrain, subframes and a Ford Ranger I want to convert the Electric. I would need to build a custom frame to mount the subframes and battery pack in the Ranger. I have many considerations to think about including making the frame as light yet as strong as possible to get good range. Also having the ability to mount the Cab, Bed and bumpers seamlessly as to look stock from outside the truck. I have given a over a year of thought and planning to seeing how this might all fit together. The wheel base is about the only big difference in the two vehicles as the track is within a half inch. I just really think building something like this is like nothing anyone else has ever done. As far as keeping both systems stock and not needing much advanced system integrations. More less Truck by Ford and Powered by Tesla! Let me know if you think It would be possible and maybe if your interested I would love some advice/help. Thanks, Casey
How do you know how much to kick the frame rails up in the front for the crossmember arms and all ? Got any good books I can buy to learn how to do this ?
I know it's been a year since this came out but if you get this I'm looking to build an 81 k20 frame from scratch and have no idea how to go about it besides putting my old frame on a jig table and hoping it's square enough to copy all the angles, bends and whatever. Great with fabrication but new to building chassis. Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated.
Would highly suggest checking out Matt’s off-road recovery channel. They’re building a wrecker, I’d build the chassis the same way just not to that scale. I Would not build a 4x4 with a c10 frame
Its good to make a quick pass over the edges but not really a bevel. The metal isn't thick enough that bevel matters. 1/8 steel is easy to get penetration. Like a hooker on a weekend.
Hello sir do u have room for a build I want done got main parts need frame work done on a 48 oldsmobile coupe but the kicker is the suspension I have is 2010 crown vic frame roller and motor wise I have a ls 5.3 yes on bags so Frankenstein those three components on a frame u can build or weld together yes crown vic is wider from outside tires by abut 2 inches but can widen fenders or u know anyone
I like the 3d printed template a LOT.

Great work. Seeing some cool ideas. Good quality videos.

How much to build me a frame jig/ table for 2 camaros so I can make frames forever?
curious where you get your dimensions? just measuring an original frame then modding? ive got a 63 in my shop now with original frame.
OMG, dejaveau! How do you find the time to lead two lives? I'm subscribed to both of your channels now. Excellent fab work!
Would you be willing to share the Fusion 360 design?

did you use mild steel?
Is it stronger if you bevel the edge before welding in the cross member. Not a welder just curious. Thanks great video.
