Scars on a van are like echelons on a warriors uniform that come with battles and experience! They (scars) equal wisdom. Cherish them! They make for wonderful stories when you grow old.
I have a ghost story- we used to live in a farmhouse that was placed on an old church property in the middle of the bush in northern Ontario. When our oldest daughter was around 5 she would wake in the night crying and she would look right through me when I went to her bedside to check on her. She would just cry and stare at the doorway saying “she’s doing it again”. She said there was a little girl that visited her in the night. The next day I opened all the windows, burned white candles and asked the spirit to go to the light where they would have peace and happiness. I said that it was our house now and they were not welcome to stay if they were going to cause trauma to our child. From then on there was no activity in that house while we lived there. Sold it though and moved to Alberta 8 years ago 😊
Wow! Good job clearing the house, and thank you for believing your daughters experience. Growing up in a haunted house was weird but having the rest of my family confirm the experience made it feel normal instead of questioning myself.
Hey Amanda. New subscriber. Found your channel thru Chrome and VanCity VanLife. I love your photography and storytelling. Here’s one for you- Missouri (my home state) is known as the Cave State. Down in the Ozark Mountains of southern Missouri/northern Arkansas you can find hundreds of old mines to explore- some even in the caves. They used to mine for gold but more for copper and iron ore. Now a days your more likely to find a working still from prohibition days where the families continue to make their own brand of moonshine. If you ever get this direction hit me up - I’d love to go exploring and meet Frank! I have a Great Dane named Pete.
I lived in Nederland Colorado and Eldora...old mining towns for 10 years. About 8200 feet elevation. I lived in a haunted old miners dry cabin. One of 3 that I occupied. It wasn't uncomfortable,. But the presence was there. We kind of agreed to peacefully share the space. It was a stuck spirit, not a negative energy. Old towns, where you can feel the history are quite fascinating. Great video
Weird mining fact: in Northern Canada you might find gold and diamonds in the same area! I thought that was pretty cool! This was a really neat episode! Loved the spooky-ness! Frank in a hammock, cutest dude ever! :)
Hey you’ve been randomly selected to win the stickers, send me a message with your address to tidelinetoalpine@gmail.com and I’ll send them off to you.
The opening scene is beautifully captured❤i'm a fan of your videos, nature is the primary focus. It reminds me of all we loose if each of us don't do our part to halt climate change.
Thank you so much! I really hope I always have access to healthy ecosystems and flowing water. It’s hard not to fight for it once you form a connection with the natural world.
Paint is replaceable, memories like these are forever. Memories also nearly always involve scratches and dings, whether they're on your car or your soul, we learn from them x
I can relate Amanda. Last week I had a fender bender in my car a 97 Cadillac. Even though she is 25 ýo she is in great shape and everything still works. I changed lanes and rubbed sides with a big black truck. It left a black streak from the driver's side door to the tail end of the car. I was sick about it. I have been driving since I was 15 yo and I am now 71 and have not had an accident. I could not even look at it for 2 days. Then I got an idea that I might be able to buff some of the black off with a 'Mr Clean Magic Pad' and I tried it and it worked all except one place on some chrome that was dented. It took alot of elbow grease and sweat but she looks better now and I am resolved that it is just a beauty mark. I like your fix for difficult times, chocolate, sage and a facial mask. I just went to bed and thought horrible things about my self. Wish I had thought of chocolate instead!
I Visited Sandon In Summer of '95 , took the dirt road that leads from Sandon , followed the Signs to ' Idaho Peak ' It was in June , but the final Switchback road to the Summit , was Completely buried in Snow . Van life rules. Have you ever stayed at the Canyon of the Ancients in Colorado. I swore I heard people talking in Native American outside of my tent. Quickly unzipping my tent to find no one there, I only stay 2 weeks. This was one of the most amazing placed I stay at during my 6 months of van life. Can't wait to get back on the road. Enjoy, and be safe
I loved this video. So much information. Some of those old long deserted buildings look like they were so well built. If the walls could talk, the stories they could tell! Thank you for sharing.
Went to a ghost town called Midas in Nevada. Was an old gold mining town. It did have a population of 3 so it technically can't be called a ghost town. Had to travel 31 miles of dirt road to get there with sheep and cattle running free. Very cool place. Once a month someone would run to "town" to pick up supplies for the whole town. There was a hotel, bar and restaurant there which the owner tried to sell to me for $250,000. It really was a rundown house, kept open for nosey people and tourists like me. Nevada has a lot of ghost towns, really like that stuff.
Thanks, verry different video, but i enjoyed it a lot. Your close- ups of nature and other things, i find always interesting and shows ur good artistic eye❣🤩👻
I explored and studied a ghost town back in 1972 and got college credit for it. The town is Mogollon, New Mexico and anyone can visit it today, but the road is still dicey. My van made it with no problem when I last visited in 2016. It mined gold and transporting the gold to Silver City, the nearest city, was fraught with Apache attacks (Geronimo and Mangus Colorado territory), highway robbery and treacherous roads for the mules to follow. There were two parts of town, the laborers, mostly Mexican, and engineers, mostly white from the east. Saloons, red light district and the local priest who was known for his home brewed apricot brandy added color. I interviewed local people in Silver City who had closer connections to the town and they told a few ghost stories that I honestly can’t remember now. I enjoyed your video Amanda, especially how you shared your difficult day along with the excitement of paranormal filming the next day. Your hammock looks so relaxing. I’m thinking about getting one. Virtual hugs and pats to Frank.
Thank you! I went through Silver City early 2020 and it was a interesting place, I would like to learn more about that area and the guy working at the coop had the most beautiful eyes 🤤
I’m glad you got a glimpse of my birth town. I left the area when I was 18, but go back to visit. I live in Central New Mexico now and my adult children are in Albuquerque. We were just camping down in the Gila Wilderness last month. My great uncle settled in the area after the civil war and my grandfather arrived in 1902.
Yeah, scratches are a disappointing part of life, but look at all the fun you had -- beautiful river, spooky ghost town. Thanks for taking us along. My regards to Frank. ❤
I dont have any fun facts to share but this video was so interesting. As much as it stinks.. marks (scars) tell a story & give you memories.. Maybe your dad will be proud and not disappointed. I love your LOTR love & Frank as always 💕💕
I like your peace peaceful style and green van 🐇 And your scenic pictures of Canada are relaxing to see. Keep up the good repair work with the help of the Haynes van manual 🥫
Fun fact about where you are, there a road that's hard to see at the end of town that takes you up to Idaho Peak. Nice short hike for amazing views on a clear day.
I love the pace and content of these videos Amanda! I’m glad you are safe. There is NO WAY I could or would have stayed at the ghost mine. I giggled when you snacked THROUGH your mask. Glad you treated yourself. You be you. It’s great to join you!!
I just discovered your channel through foresty forest, and I've been totally binge watching you!! Frank is the BEST!!! Thanks for sharing your adventures...you are such an inspiration and joy to watch!
I have a ton of those masks my daughter gave me. One of these days I will do a van spa day video. Hee hee. Great video. But I didn't know any fun facts so I Googled this: "Canada's mining industry is a leading global producer of potash that is also ranked among the top five producers of cobalt, diamonds, gold, nickel, platinum and uranium." I hope that earns a sticker. Either way, have a great day! LOVE how you painted your van. Please do a video of how you and your dad did the body work. Would love to learn to do that too!
I’ve defiantly been thinking to doing a paint job story time so I’m glad you suggested it. I actually used to work in Uranium, it was pretty intense at times but a good memory.
It is always such a joy to spend time with you and Frank ❤️ More often than not i wish your videos were longer BUT i'll take what you give us ❤️lol ❤️ Loads of love and until the next adventure ❤️
Awesome scary house. Remember scares are memories of where you gone. There a story to tell. Your dad will be okay. I loved watching haunted house videos. Thank you for sharing ❤️
My late brother and I visited Sandon and Cody back in 1980. Watching this video makes me want to return. I think I'll add it the ol' bucket list. Great video. Just subbed to your channel.
It was fun to do something a little different, there’s so much around here to explore. My dad and uncle are always out looking for old mines on their bikes
@4:02, “i think i will go fo some road maintainence” is, imho, a great idea. Great exercise, and who knows, 💡, another ‘traveler’ may notice your trimmings, and 🤔🤔😎

You might consider something like Rustoleum clear spray can bed liner After you’ve rubbed out the scratches. I’d maybe do the bumpers first to see if you like it. I’m sure there are other brands. I don’t know if it yellows with age. It always hurts to see your pride and joy suffer damage. Education sure is expensive !! Happy travels
Great Video Amanda! Thanks for all the great information and the great footage! Frank is so darn cute, love his blonde eyelashes! 😊 Enjoy your adventures!
So cool. My house is old. Before or 1910. It was empty 10 years before we got it. We looked at it in October. So we came at 12 am 10 /31/2000 to make sure nothing strange was going on. Lol Nothing so far. My mother inlaw said she would hear sounds on the stairs around 5 pm. I haven't heard a thing. I have only spent 2 nights alone here. I heard every sound those nights but no 👻.
And so I found the vlog I was commenting about. One of your best blogs!! I really think your are awesome. I enjoy all your videos but this one made me a huge fan. Please do more like this one super cool and fun to watch.
Fun trip! I have a trip planned from north Seattle to Las Vegas. I have so many ghost towns marked on a map along the way! They have so much history and crazy stories surrounding them!
Your videos always make me want to be more intentional about life and tuning into myself. My tire saga continues. After investing in some decent tires, I randomly sidewalled one against a hidden rock not a week after purchase. 😑 I definitely had to sit with my feelings. And I’m working through anxiety around Rocky Mountain roads. This video helps remind me that we all have these moments. You also make me want to think even beyond myself more. In one video, you talked about leaving a beautiful camp spot before the weekend so families with less time to explore would have the opportunity to enjoy that spot. Then, you taking the time to trim the road. Both touched me and gave me a lot to think on. This adventure seemed especially fun! What a crazy cool place with lots of history and character! Cant wait to tune in next Friday.
It's such a bummer when you put your first scratches in your van. It happens, I was t totally bummed when I did it to my van. It gets easier and we need to put into perspective, your van still rocks ! Great video..thanks
Those scratches are badges of honor!😉 This was a great video, very interesting! I have to say I really love your style of filming. Ok, those shadows you saw are creepy! And of course Frank having fun is a bonus. You've given him such a great life! I was in New Mexico about 10yrs ago and stumble on the town of Madrid. It was not by any means abandoned but it sure was interesting. Was an old coal mining town sometime in the 1800's. I'll let you check it out to find out the real fun fact! Hahaha Had a lot of fun there 😁😄. Happy trails, be safe, and hugs to the big guy Frank!
You’re not a bozo. They’re beauty marks. We all end up with some scars along the way. Your van would stay nice and unscathed just sitting in a driveway somewhere, but what fun is that?
Hi Amanda, I am new to your Channel. Saw you a few times with Foresty and then started to check your videos. Great job! I do not really have a story about Ghost towns, I am not a huge history buff.....just a little. The title "Ghost Town" confuses me. The town you visited yes I can understand that it is a Ghost town. I live in Eastern ON and we have several "Ghost towns" around where I live. Maybe at some point they supported different mining efforts, but a lot of the towns are thriving little communities with quite a few people living there. I guess because it is only 2 hrs outside of Toronto, a lot of people are coming to live here too, just to escape the hustle and noise of Toronto. ln these "Ghost towns" around me, there is very little left to see of the previous buildings and equipment. But what is seen is interesting. Thanks for posting. Eileen
If you're looking for some destination inspiration, Amanda, might I recommend an old TV series, called "Gold Trails & Ghost Towns," which I used to watch in the '80s and '90s, which talks about mining, gold-rush and railroad history all over BC and beyond?
I love exploring especially old towns and I don’t think you spent the night there ? The Poland Springs Inn in Poland Springs Maine, was a flourishing place and the water’s were known for healing, people from all around the world would go there. It became VERY haunted and lost patrons, they rented out the houses for the worker’s, exploitation was amazing till I came upon a well for devil sacrifice. Decided to go in the Inn one night, it was so creepy with black shadows and thing’s moved I wanted out! The Inn mysteriously burnt down right after, the pictures were so awesome it was kinda sad as it was a beautiful place at one time. I don’t think we got past the 5th floor before we were run off by ghosts lol. For real! Frank looks comfy and the scratches will buff right out.
Some scratches will buff out....or touch up paint works. I just leave mine as adventure scars well earned .

Thanks, it feels like doing a high school project but I figured someone would enjoy it 👍🏼
Breathtaking Views!
Fun trip! I have a trip planned from north Seattle to Las Vegas. I have so many ghost towns marked on a map along the way! They have so much history and crazy stories surrounding them!
I hope you have a great time 💯
Thank you for the information on the ghost town. Was very interesting.
Great footage!
Eileen
Great video
Awesome stew 😄
I would use little compound to see if you can rub those scratches out, it might not work, but it's worth a shot.
If you're looking for some destination inspiration, Amanda, might I recommend an old TV series, called "Gold Trails & Ghost Towns," which I used to watch in the '80s and '90s, which talks about mining, gold-rush and railroad history all over BC and beyond?
You look like Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire in that mask. Made me giggle.
Ghost towns as an option🤯 Great video💜
Amanda, I bet a good wax job would take most of the scratches off ur green machine.
I’ve never been to the East coast but that sounds like a really lively place.
regrets are so strange considering everything is gone in few short years
