I remember when Rob first got drafted and had issues making it to practice on time, etc.. how he got ate up and all we’d hear was how he had “work ethic” issues. Crazy how quickly that has changed from that to him being a defensive anchor/ vocal leader for this team.

Not only that but it’s also that Rob Williams is so absurdly long and athletic, that he can just effortlessly cover so much ground, Rob isn’t the tallest center at 6’10, but he has a 7’6 wingspan and a 40 inch vertical. So with that it’s pretty much like having a 7’2 7’3 guy protecting the basket. That’s how long Robert Williams is.

  • @jonbradshaw1933

His quickness off the floor is ridiculous. Never seen someone jump so fast and then just float. His playmaking has become a great asset as well, didn't see that potential coming out of Texas a&m. Wanted Milwaukee to take him back in 2018. a defense with him, Giannis, Jrue, Khris. Only draft pick I wanted more since was Herbert Jones last year.

Come the 2018 NBA draft, instead of being a lottery pick, Williams fell to the 27th overall pick where he was selected by the Boston Celtics due to concerns about his work ethic. On July 5, 2018, the Boston Celtics signed Williams. Williams did not initially make a good impression, being criticized for showing up late and missing team functions. His reputation for missing flights and video meetings caused him to earn the moniker "Timelord" on online Boston Celtics fandoms.
Gosh, this man is no factor at all.

Defensively he’s a force obviously and he’s not even grown into his “man strength,” yet.
He has MASSIVELY improved on his block to foul ratio which is identical to his blocks/game (2.2) if I’m not mistaken, which is quite rare amongst rim protectors who can have a tendency to block chase and hack.
His soft touch from little floaters, the dynamic passing ability and his shooting form from 12ft-16ft albeit limited samples give me belief he’s going to become so much more than what he is presently, so excited to see how he develops

I always forget he is only 6'8" because he gets up so damn high

    • @rangerheir5821

      He's actually a solid 6'9, sitting at around 235 with a 7'6 wingspan.
Let me say that again. 7'6 wingspan.
He is literally the perfect POWER FORWARD for this game.
I'm putting this guy to be the one to shut down Giannis.
It really drives me crazy people call this type of player a center.
Once he develops a deadly deep fadeaway and post moves, yea I got him at PF.

He's 6'9 actually, but it's his vertical and wingspan that makes him different. He's probably the perfect height, anything taller and he might not be as effective.

Has Rob missed any free throws since the Energy Shift in mid season? Or is he perfect from the line?

Luckily he just had his injury and he’s coming back. I believe in the law of averages and doubt he’ll get reinsured unless he wasn’t fully healed to begin with

@@TestTest-ei4gi You realize he's returning in 4 weeks from an injury that takes an average person 6 months to heal from? And that the man jumps WAY too high for his size and depends entirely on his knees to absorb the blows?

When Robert Williams III becomes day-to-day, the NBA could change forever, because alongside the Jays, not to mention with help from the deepest bench in the NBA, these Celtics are already simply "un-defendable," as Boston's own Scal likes to say so often.

for a big man hes super quick on his feet too, dangerous combnination of being able to beat people to the rim from a fast break as well as a unstoppable machine during putbacks. Could definitely see him being a DPOY or even a HOF if he keeps at it like this
