I'm really looking forward to seeing your other playlists about marine biology, because I really enjoy the clearer explanation you give to your viewers. Also, when you spoke about eco-friendly stuff, I decided to get eco-friendly glasses sense I lost my other pair 2 weeks ago, so hopefully they come in quicker lol.
Thanks so much for watching all 10! What is the key action you are going to take to get started or keep moving in the direction of marine bio? Keep me posted. Cheering you on!
I really appreciated this series!! I’m 24 and recently I realized that my current career path just isn’t sustainable for me. I’m currently majoring in art (and I’m literally one semester away from finishing my degree haha whoops), but I’ve decided that I’m going to put my completed classes towards a marine biology major instead! I’ve always been interested in the ocean and I’m so much more motivated to go down this path :) I’m still having trouble deciding exactly what kind of marine biology career I’m gonna go for. There’s just too much cool things about the ocean!! I really love whales, deep sea creatures, jellyfish (especially the immortal jellies woah), the animals that live near hydrothermal vents, and honestly this list can go on forever. Actually I was having trouble a while ago because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go for ornithology or marine biology, but I recently learned about the b1 orca pod and that tipped me over the edge haha. Underwater acoustics definitely peaked my interest too! I guess in summary, I’m very excited! And very landlocked. And a little less excited about math, but I’m determined to get through it! Thank you for these amazing tools :) I’m gonna go purchase the green bible now
I just found this series about 3 or 4 days ago and so glad I did....I'm 26 years old and a middle manager in a retail setting with no college or volunteering experience. But have always had a love for ocean life and conservation and always wanted a career in the field but just never went for it...now approaching 30 I realize I cant let this dream pass me by and was looking into the field when i stumbled across your videos...you series was incredibly insightful (I took 5 pages of notes) into the field and very inspiring. After finishing part 10 today I have called my local aquarium and have an interview for an incredible year long volunteer opportunity with their aquatacists this week and could not be more excited. Your videos truly connected and resonated with me on a level that nobody or anything else has and have inspired me to take that next step Into marine science and conservation. Thank you so much for making this information available and inspiring me to take that leap I xant tell you how much it means to have people like you in the world!!!! -Steve Future marine scientist
Steve! You totally made my day, week, YEAR with this message. Honestly, I am so so thrilled that you found the videos, took notes and got value out of them! Congrats on your interview with the aquarium! I hope it goes well. Keep me posted on how it goes, please! I am so stoked for you. Thank you again for your kind comments. I am working on more videos and will be releasing some soon. Let me know if you have any topics you are interested in. :)
Hello, my name is Gina. I appreciated this video series so much! I am a junior at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma (US). My major is integrative biology with an emphasis on fisheries and wildlife. I made a shoutout to you on my Facebook page! The video that really caught my attention was part 2 and how you talked about finding your Venn diagram. I really am passionate about studying and protecting the environment for marine life and the ocean. Your videos inspired me to not give up on my goals of becoming a marine biologist/conservationist.
Thank you so much Gina for your comment and enthusiasm! I love that you have found/are finding your unique venn diagram for your marine biology career. Keep at it! The oceans need you. :)
Hi, I'm a 15 yr old future Marine Biologist. I'm literally so glad I found your channel. It's helped me create a game plan to actually live my dream that I've had since I was about 9. I'm dead set on only reaching towards what I will need to reach my goal of becoming a Marine Biologist (possibly, specifically a Microbiologist). Know that what you are doing is helping so many people (or at the verryyyyyy least me). Anyways I just wanted to know that I thank you :)
Seanna! You are so kind. Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching. I am so pumped for you! We need more people like you. Keep me posted on your progress or stumbling blocks. Cheering you on!
Thank you so much for this series! so many things you have mentioned are things I was already interested in, so I know I'm going in the right direction. This is a 180 change for me, I'm 30 years old and I'm making a career change, it won't be easy but I'll make it happen. Thank you for sharing your insights and experience on this it means a lot for inexperienced folks like me.
You watched the whole series! Thank you! Glad the advice has aligned with you. Hopefully you feel activated! I am curious about your Venn diagram! Tell me about it.
So happy I stumbled upon your marine bio series! I would love to consider myself a marine biologist however I’m struggling to find my place in the field post-graduation. Job searching has been a struggle. Your advice has really lifted my spirits and given me hope to continue searching for a career as a marine biologist. Thank you for making this series and encouraging all generations to pursue ocean conservation!!
Danielle Carrea - Hey Danielle! I am so glad you found it and got to the end! Congrats on graduating! I know it can be hard to find the right place to land once you are out of school. What kind is questions do you have? Maybe I could do a video about “so you just graduated, now what?”. It would be awesome to have your input so I can address the questions you have, and that I am sure other people have!
Hey @@zoekatelyn1819, you found a link to these videos on Pinterest? Crazy! I'm not on Pinterest so I wonder who had posted it. So glad you found the channel. :)
Hello, I'm so glad to see more recent information and advice about this field! I'm a little late to the party, but nonetheless loved your series. I'm 22 still trying to figure myself out and what undergrad degree to go for. I fell in love with anatomy and physiology, chemistry, and biology classes. I've also felt passionate about Marine life ever since I got my scuba license at 12. Marine biology had been something I wanted but thought I could never achieve. My parents really discouraged it. They said I wouldn't make any money off of it let alone spend money for me to travel. I also contacted a scuba instructor/ Instagram influencer at a young age who convinced me that I needed connections to get into scuba instructing and Marine biology, the job outlook for me seemed bleak. So I put it aside and later started to pursue nursing/ pre medicine. I don't have any schools near me that offer Marine sciences. ( Not even an actual aquarium 😔) So I plan to graduate with some science degree and get my Master's out on the coast. I'd like to know how I could get more information about volunteer opportunities and mentors online. I can't afford to pay for volunteer trips or travel anywhere at the moment.
Hi Brittany Blue, I am so sorry I missed your message until now. How are you doing? I hope you are still on your path to exploring a career options in the marine field. Amazing that you began diving at such a young age! I am sorry you have been discouraged at different points in your life. Are you still in school for nursing/pre-med? Getting work experience when you are not near the ocean is still possible. I recently made a video about getting experience during COVID. I hope you can check that out and it helps. Please keep me posted and reach out anytime. Best of luck.
Hi Chalk and Rubble, I so appreciate all your comments you made on many of the videos as you went through the series. So glad you got through all 10 videos and that they were helpful :) Let me know if you have any video requests.
@@MarineBiologyMel It was my pleasure! I guess It'd be very helpful if you made a video how to choose specific Bsc and Masters degrees, and the relevant electives if we are headed for a career in Marine Bio. Or just a video stating facts about the current and future state of the job market maybe.
Hello, my name is Elena and I want to know more about how can I become a marine biologist and if you can give some tips to go to study in college. I am currently 13 years old and in Guatemala there is no career to study marine biology, so what tips or recomendations you can give me? I have another question for you: In what university did you study or in which state universities do you recommend me to study?
Hi Elena, thanks for watching and reaching out! Doing a quick search, there is lots going on in Guatemala around ocean conservation. Check out this UN webpage - www.oceanactionhub.org/countries/guatemala. Keep at it and take advantage of the ocean experts and ecosystems around you to learn more and be inspired. Keep me posted.
