I have said it before and will continue to express my thanks to you guys for these videos. It is like going down memory lane. As someone who was born there and have parents/grandparents who grew up in Tupelo, the history of the area was learned at an early age along with Elvis Presley. Excited to see it being highlighted the way you guys are showing it.
Fellow cyclist here. Glad you shared your short visit to Tupelo. Hate you didn't get to check out the Tanglefoot trail, a paved 44-mile cycling trail just outside of Tupelo. Tupelo is a great little foodie town. The Neon Pig actually is a burger joint with the #1 rated hamburger in the state, and even in the nation by some publications. Best BBQ in town is actually at CHOP. Other great local places include Pizza vs Tacos, Blue Canoe, Nautical Whimsey, and for lunch - Cafe 212. The largest retail area in the state is actually north of downtown and that's where most of the shopping and chains are located. Thanks for stopping by! Best wishes on all your remaining adventures!
Tupelo, I have a client at the Toyota plant in Blue Springs and have spent a couple of days in Tupelo over the years. Visiting the Elvis birthplace at night has a fun vibe. Kermits is good, stick to the bbq. I recommend Connies for fried chicken, building is not as groovy, but the food is worth it.
Tip from one who travels the Trace often. There have been many bicyclists killed with many more injured. Reality is most people driving it don't care or pay attention to bicycles. Many use the time to get on their smartphones. I have had to come to a complete stop and literally move off the road before getting hit head on. Some people are impatient and will not slow down at all even when cars are coming from the other direction and literally run you off the road. Yes, there are laws for bicyclists but doesn't mean people abide by them. Don't travel during rush hour times! Best to travel from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Folks use the Trace as a regular road and are in a hurry in the morning and many start drinking on their way home on the Trace after work. It's just the way it is so trying to help you out. (If a car runs over a bicyclist, the driver is in the wrong but will walk away; the bicyclist usually doesn't). Always be looking behind you and buy whatever you can to wear or attach to your bicycle to make yourself noticed. The more blinky, reflective stuff, the better because people driving that are head deep into their smartphones is really a problem on the Trace.
Guys, I love all your videos but this one is special for me. I love Elvis, he died when I was a 2 days short of my 7th birthday but I loved his music and my own children grew up loving and knowing who the King was, as Aussies some may find this a little strange 😂. But I married a man that loved Elvis as much as myself, he would sing Elvis songs to our kids in the car 😂 And FYI: my son was born 16/08, and no, I didn’t name his Elvis as there will only be one Elvis 😉
We have nothing to offer. Kermit's wasn't even originally BBQ. Tupelo restraints don't know what they want to be. They change the damn menu or theme every day month it feels like. Thats why they fail. Everyone on mainstreet in downtown aside from mugshots has no idea who it wants to be. Even the ITALIAN bistro.
You know I didn’t even put two and two together. 😂😂😂 also, the food was great! There were several restaurants we wanted to try but didn’t have the time.
We were just there last week. And my family was not as excited about Elvis's birthplace as I was. They were more interested in food, as well 🤣 And we ate at Kermit's too!
Oh my, yep, fire ants😬 Can't wait to see scenes like this with your new cameras too. Crazy how few people are on the trail. Lol, Elvis outhouse. Love this town:) Best wishes, James and Kim ❤
The reason fire ants feel like that is because they sting you. They can bite but they bite to hold on and the sting is what feels like fire. Other ants don’t sting.
Great videos! Watching your videos of the past few days have been making me look forward to my trip in December but I’m going self sufficient. I wish I could take my fur babies. Chris, please please please wear a brighter jersey. You blended into the tree line a few times and possibly harder to see for oncoming traffic. Stay safe you two!
Hey you came through my town! If you pass back through one day, you should try Clay's House Of Pig for BBQ. Summer we have concerts all the time downtown.
hmm i haven't been able to verify that "fun fact" What does the word Tupelo mean? The genus name Nyssa refers to a Greek water nymph. The name tupelo, the common name used for Nyssa, is of Native American origin, coming from the Creek words ito 'tree' and opilwa 'swamp'; it was in use by the mid-18th century. ... The city of Tupelo, Mississippi, is named for this tree.
I accidentally sat on a fire ant hill .....in shorts. Thankfully there was a garden hose close by and no neighbors out to watch the show. Probably one of the most painful moments of my life....and I've had two kids!

So fun to hear from someone that has a family history in these areas, glad you enjoy the video series!
The music paired with the drone footage over the town at the end was a really nice touch!
Thanks, y'all! It feels so good to get to finally play with a bit of drone footage again! 😊
We are huge Elvis fans! I saw him in concert 1976 before he passed away. Beautiful video! Great drone footage! ~Cara 😊
No way! So cool. I bet that was a concert to remember. Hope y’all are having a wonderful weekend! ☺️

We’re having so much fun exploring Mississippi. Can’t wait to show more off!
I’ve really been enjoying this series of yours!
Thank you so much Katie! It’s been a fun change of pace.

😂we thought that was a nice touch. lol
I loved Elvis movies. Of course they were reruns because he was alot older than me but some of his songs are just classics. ♡
I wish you met Elvis and became best friends

What a great bike path and a great tour of the history of Tupelo. When things get normal again that would be one of the places I would like to visit.
We would highly recommend visiting, it's a fun town!

Thanks for showing our town of Tupelo
We loved our time in Tupelo! Thanks for watching Eleanor!
4:42 - after biking ~75 miles... being hangry is probably an understatement! Looks like you were well fed shortly thereafter though Sara!
being hangry is no joke 😂
Perfect timing! We stopped in Tupelo last night on our way back to Arkansas
No way! Small world. Hope you got a chance to explore it a little bit. ☺️

I only live an hour away from tupelo. I have actually had a thought of biking, the Natchez trace myself.
You should do it!
Enjoyed the composition and content. You really do such an excellent job on your videos. Thanks for sharing your cycling road trip.
Thanks for watching, Trish! It’s nice hearing people are enjoying the change of pace in videos and are interested in the biking part. ☺️

I live in Tupelo
fun fact, "tupelo" is a slang word in Slovak language and it means something like "moron" :D
😂😂😂 thats so funny! I love when words means totally different things in other languages.
hmm i haven't been able to verify that "fun fact"
What does the word Tupelo mean?

@@jshenderson as I said, it's a slang word, you won't find it in a dictionary. But you can ask a native Slovak speaker about it (like me).
Elvis’ home was so small. Very cute cottage.
Hey Dorothea do you ever stop and think about me?
I seen y’all pass my house!!
Waiter: Good evening, what would you like to order
Sara: Bring EVERYTHING!
😂😂😂 you get it. That cycling hunger is no joke.

An oasis of safety and decency.
ELVIS WAS NOT BORN IN THAT LITTLE WHITE HOUSE, HE LIVED IN ANOTHER HOUSE BEORE THEY MOVED THERE, I SAW A PHOTO OF THE PLACE..
☺️
Yet people still call it home and yhats exactly why I left the southern portion of the United States
👍
Please learn American music culture one of kind
Very dangerous! Bike riding on the trace is not safe - Save yourself - don't try this! Go to the Tanglewood Trail instead ....
You're just a Karen.
no… it’s like actually not safe. (multiple kidnappings, assaults, ect. occur there…)
tanglefoot is definitely safer
