We have the Shibumi and I want it to work so badly. It’s light, convenient and when the wind is steady and going in one direction, it’s perfect. However, if there’s no wind or the wind is constantly changing directions the Shibumi isn’t a great solution. My advice is to always have a backup and if you have kids, don’t rely on this if you need shade 100% of the day because you will absolutely be exposed to the sun if it’s not a “perfect breeze”
Bought one for a week at Hilton head. Returned after 3 days. Is great if the wind is steady and from one direction. The instant the wind calms or dies…so does your shade. When the wind direction changes…and it will, you must realign it. Simply put, it’s a neat toy but does not replace a static shade, especially at it’s cost.
Honest review here…. I have used this and like it very much as it offers lots of shade. But you need some wind to make the back go up as it is only tied down in the front. Also if it is too windy there is so much noise of it constantly flapping I had a very hard time relaxing as I was not listening to music. It is perfect if the wind is just right.
Love it, just ordered the larger style. Went to Beaufort NC near Cape Lookout last weekend and these things are everywhere. Only saw one group carrying an old style pop up shade and the bag was huge and looked heavy. Watched a guy set this new style up while we were roasting under the sun and said I needed to get one ASAP.
I haven't heard of that one. I'll have to check it out. Of all the tents I've tried this is the fasted one to set up. But I'll check that other one out too.
@@How2Beach Yes we know it. Cross your fingers we going to buy a house over there. Now, The market looks beter specjal if you buying with cash. We have two months for that.
I'm going to be doing a video soon to compare a couple of different tents. I think you two to have the best of both worlds. When we lived in the USVI we hiked into a lot of beaches. So having something small and packable was important. Not sure how much you do that in HI.

Turn the bag inside out when you fill out with sand.
Thanks. My wife just figured that out last we went to the beach too.
We've had our Shibumi for 3 years and LOVE IT! Headed to Panama City Beach later this week and Shibumi is definitely making the trip!
They are taking over the beach. I'm seeing a lot of them. They are great if you have to pack all your gear in the car too.

Yea, I also have the Neso for a back up.

The good thing is that is easy to move if the wind moves, but not so much if the wind dies.

Thanks Mike. When it gets super windy I just close my eyes and picture that I'm back on a sail boat sailing through the Virgin Islands. 😛

Yea, when I see people with the old style tents I feel a little sorry for them. 😂
We love ours! But we untied the carrying bag from the cord and bring an umbrella anchor to tie the cord to instead of getting sand all in the bag.
Awww. Interesting tip. I may try this in a new video.
If you need a big tent its the best but for two people I prefer the solbello. Easier to setup and adjust automatically to wind direction changes.

That’s great! Which beach are you at?
This is Panama City Beach Florida pretty close to the city pier.
@@How2Beachhave you been back since then? How’s the beach traffic with summer beach goers?
We are going to test the shibumi shade mini in beaches of St.Croix VI next week.
Very cool. I lived in STT for 3 years. I just moved back.

Thanks so much for posting this. Could you please make a video comparing the Shibumi and the Neso Grande you reviewed a couple years ago? 🌞🌊 🏖
I sort of took a break from this channel. But, This will be coming soon.
Hmm it would be hit and miss here in Hawaii. Sometimes it’s super windy and other times nothing

Also I have a Tiki themed house you might like.
Banned on some beaches because of the noise.
Turn bag inside out
I did figure that one out later. Thanks

Put a dumbbell in the bag instead of sand.
That would work. It takes less force to hold it up than you'd think.
why the hell does this cost 200$?
It is pricey. But I guess you pay for the convenience.
Shibumi is a disaster. Wind change... problem. Little to no wind...no shade. Very bad concept. Borrowed from a friend, eagerly returned.
I just did a new video comparing it to the Neso Grande
these things are 50$ on ali express 🤣
