Love this Band in the best times of my life...Born in the 66'...!!! Never forget these great times...it was so fuckin' funny for all i think in Berlin or wherever in the 80ties.....LG from Dirk
Was there...my 1st ever Godfathers gig....Roachford supported ! Set list is.... 01. BIRTH SCHOOL WORK DEATH 02. `CAUSE I SAID SO 03. OBSESSION 04. COLD TURKEY 05. TELL ME WHY 06. I`M UNSATISFIED 07. STB 08. ANARCHY IN THE UK
Another gem from Travis.... the main man for great music on You Tube. Loved The Godfathers & saw them numerous times 87-91, always fantastic. 1. Birth School Work Death, 2. Cos I Said So, 3. Obsession, 4. Cold Turkey, 5. Tell Me Why, 6. I'm Unsatisfied, 7. STB, 8. Anarchy in the UK
Fortunate to experience this Great Band in Australia for the Unreal World Tour in December '91. Realise Kris Dollimore had left but still an excellent Gig.
Yes, Chris Dollimore on guitar. The guy was phenomenal then. Still is one of the best guitarists I've ever seen /heard. Loved him when he was in The Damned in the 90s. His energy was amazing. I'm sure The Hives are influenced by these guys?
I read, "another gem from Travis"from LovelyStuff, so I have to subscribe. Sexpistlos and Punk? I said no, no, no. The God fathers and The Stranglers. Love to hear more of you, mate. 👍😎
I agree, saw them live in a small club in Pula/Croatia, sometime in the 90s, small crowd but they played like they were on Wembley. They deserved to be rock stars, not G'n'r
i wll have to google whathappend to this band. loved this song as it relates to how time drags through childhood through aweful school, church sunday school on to aweful coworkers for the next 30 or more years. and awesome ritirement when time goes by rediculously fast as you have always based time on weekend points. when you retire everyday is a weekend.
Timing is everything I guess...... I saw them in a tiny club in Birkenhead, about 86 (?) and they blew the roof off. - I think they were too 'punk' for the moment and then baggy/manchester /acid house came along and they got lost in it all. - But yeah, they almost could have written Bring it on Down, by Oasis....
Yes I'd seen the sid presley experience they'd split up, out of that Band the Godfathers were formed So it would have been around 86 When I first saw them, fantastic live Though..
@@anthonyotoole867 Yeah it was the SPE that led me into them. I'd seen them as a support band to Billy Bragg a year or two before and then when the Godfathers happened it was that great youthful feeling of 'finding' a new band. Bought all their initial singles on 12'. Ahhhh, teenage years.....
Been turned around till I'm upside down Been all at sea until I've drowned And I've felt torture, I've felt pain Just like that film with Michael Caine I've been abused and I've been confused And I've kissed Margaret Thatcher's shoes And I been high and I been low And I don't know where to go Birth, school, work, death Birth, school, work, death And heroin was the love you gave From the cradle to the grave Boys and girls don't understand The devil makes work for idle hands I cut myself but I don't bleed 'Cause I don't get what I need Doesn't matter what I say Tomorrow's still another day Birth, school, work, death Birth, school, work, death Yeah I been high and I been low And I don't know where to go I'm living on the never never never This time it's gonna be forever I'll live and die don't ask me why I want to go to paradise And I don't need your sympathy There's nothing in this world for me Birth, school, work, death Birth, school, work, death Birth, school, work, death Birth, school, work, death Birth, school, work, death Birth, school, work, death
I'm never doing heroin. Looks and sounds deadly. These guys rock and aRe original. Even though they redo other peoples songs. Not well is reAlly good . WAr is good (the song not the action)
Who still has a cassette tape with this song on it, and used to drive their car around with this song turned up sometimes?⁉️🤔
Even through various line ups..they still sound great today..

I saw them live a few times back in the 80s, probably one of my favourite live bands.

The band was really on top of their game at this point in their career.
