  • "over" has many different uses and meanings in English. "over" is a preposition, an adverb, a noun, an adjective and a prefix. In this lesson, you will learn how to use "over" as a preposition.

      "overreact" is a verb, yes that is correct. It means to excessively react to something.
      Example:
      When he lost the game, he cried. He *overreacted.*

    But I am struggling with some examples which do not suit into any of those categories.
    -You always cry over boys!
    -He is gonna risk his life over a stupid marathon
    -I can't support you if you hurt yourself over drugs
    All of these are real examples heard from natives. Is this OVER kind of THE REASON OF SOMETHING?
