- “I had come to Mumbai with a lot of hope, but initially, I felt all this city did was humiliate me. Coming from a humble family, I didn’t fear struggles or failures - my grandfather had said once, ‘When you are poor, the cheapest thing you can get is ‘happiness’!’ So I was happy with whatever life threw my way. But after almost 2 years with no work, and countless days of sleeping on the railway platform, I was losing hope. That’s when, once again, my grandfather’s words came to my rescue; he said, ‘Bheege hue insaan ko barish se kya dar? Keep going at it!’ I was already there, I was already struggling, a little more struggle wouldn’t have affected me. So I stayed back, and a year later, I had signed my first movie. The rest is history…”

I am taking home with me so much wisdom and perspective after seeing this. Anupam ji is a legend, people call him legend for his work, but I call him a legend for his wisdom. I have seen MANY interviews of him, needless to say that I am in awe each and every time. I was posted in Kashmir and love her and her people. Anupam Khar (the genuine Kashmiri Pandit name is Khar and not Kher) is a good actor a self-made person. Has surely achieved much on his own merit. He surely has the typical Kashmiri looks of a pure Aryan. If given the proper training he would have an advantage over Robert De Niro not only in looks but also in acting. What Anupam lacks is a solid education and sophistication in handling people like De. Niro. These Brahmans of Kashmir often have a great tradition of learning. Note a genuine educated Kashmiri Pandit (that too from a remote part of Kashmir Valley), few like him on planet earth as of now. Even Dr. Henry Kissinger was no match for him.
