Antony at left wing back is not actually as silly as it sounds, at all. People spend so much time bantering him that they haven’t paid attention to his positive attributes. Antony has really good technique, close ball control, keeps possession very well, tracks back defensively, is combative, and has a high work rate. The biggest issue I’ve seen with him at United out wide right is he’s quick over 5-10 yards but he’s not explosively fast. He constantly cuts inside onto his dominant foot (like Grealish at City) and opts to play safe sideways and backwards passes instead of trying to go around the opposition full back. Likewise, it’s clear that he would thrive much more in a true possession team that works its way up and down the field together passing and moving. The problem for him at United so far is they haven’t been a possession team. They’ve been much more of a moments and counterattack side and Antony hasn’t received enough fullback support going forward. Primarily because Dalot and Wan Bissaka (last several seasons before he left) have been more concerned staying back and covering for slow footed center backs like Maguire, Evans, Lindelof, and Casemiro (who had to play CB last year). Ironically, the best moments I’ve seen from Antony have been in cameos on the left where he’s just whipped in quick, first time balls to Hojlund. Who himself has been starved of service up top. I think there is actually a role for Antony at left wingback. But he also needs to embrace the change as well.
Quite refreshing to hear someone talk with sense other than just getting on the band wagon of outing him. The only reason he gets as much as much slack as he does is because of his persona and attitude from face value. If and big IF, he embraces change he could genuinely be a really solid LWB, but if he’s got attitude and doesn’t embrace it then he should go as there’s no place for him at United
@leonpalmer2429 I do watch football matches closely. I also played, coached, and officiated at decently high levels as well. I enjoy actually discussing in depth players and tactics. Hard to find on here a lot of the times because it’s typically banter.

He definitely has a cracking left foot, not sure if he's got the engine and the aggression to get back defending, but could be interesting. I remember how top quality Victor Moses was at Wing Back for Conte, maybe could be similar sort of thing.
@richardsmith9615 I think he has got the work rate. He never shys away from doing defensive work & is competitive aswell. Could be an interesting option for Amorim to consider
I think people have forgotten just how poor his output is when he cuts onto that left foot and how much he struggles to beat a man, because he's not quick enough. Just don't see it with him and he trained RWB, not left. Malacia was left
Good you mentioned Mount as nobody is, but I'd be surprised if he's not selected with Bruno if deploying two 10's behind a lone striker. Mainoo, Mount & Bruno are going to thrive. Also, I agree with the vwagon wheeler that Harry should be in the middle of the back three, with Martinez and Yoro either side.
@DM-up2hs I hear you and Amad is doing well and, coupled with his excellent attitude, he's a great option but I'd stick with Mount in there as he's ahead in his link up plsy and knows the middle of the pitch better - depends on the opposition too, of not against s top team then we can afford Amad from the start as more possibly more of a goal t
If there is a change in system, be interesting to see how quickly it gels. Might take a little bit of time, Ipswich could have a chance of a result after their win against Spurs.
Watch Utd for the next 6 months look like world beaters, and then once the players feel comfortable enough that they are secure under this manager, the performances will fall off a cliff, just like they have with every manager since Moyes.
You’re part of the problem. You’re negative as hell. That’s why our fan base is so toxic. Bit pathetic. Stand behind your team or go support City like other fake mancs
To be fair, the performances improves this season, we just could score. If we finish our chances against Palace and West Ham, we're top 4. Before anyone starts, obviously we didn't and are where we deserve 😂 I just don't think most of the players downed tools this time. Do think Rashford and Shaw are big issues though. No surprise Shaw is training again
United were in poor form because there was no playing system, team was poor in possession and out of possession. It relied too much on individual moments from players
No player could sustain form, it was never a team playing, fighting as an unit, disjointed press, backline parking in front of Onana and the forwards jogging about, midfielders left to cover entire field

Agreed I’ve been saying this
Amorim has been playing a left footed right wing back at sporting so if he does use Antony it will more likely be at right wing back

I can tell you actually WATCH football and not highlights

Ruben's at the wheel. Wagon wheel

Im surprised about the fitness aspect - it suggests ETH had lost his grip.
Antony being played as a wing back actually could work tbh. It's not as daft as many think

Amad definitely has to start before Mount but Mason can be a good option off the bench.

Think he'll rotate him and Amad. Amad presses really well too and Mount can't be trusted to be available

Uncultured life, wagon wheel is a classic.
Wagon wheel is one of New Zealand unofficial national anthems 😂

Spot on. Not just Moyes, but every Manager that followed
You’re part of the problem. You’re negative as hell. That’s why our fan base is so toxic. Bit pathetic. Stand behind your team or go support City like other fake mancs
That's down to the manager to keep under control and with different management above him, he'll have their backing

Fab smile
Harry is injured so he can't be in first line up !
I got married on a Friday
Thats gay
Your sister doesn’t count.
Congratulations 😊
Condolences
I don’t even know my anniversary 😂
Antony gets more hate than anybody in the league. It’s ridiculous. I personally love him.
Is that physical love, or the love between a man and a fine wine?
Can't believe these guys have never heard of Wagon Wheel.
Damn is so hard to understand these two! Work on your English for crying out loud
Dareen can you wake up 😂
