I am a banglorean, Let me say this no bangalorean will prefer going to hotel 3 times for food. As a person living in Bangalore I can tell, small wage people prefer street side vendor for lunch. A middle class people or a marketing people or a day shift people working they go to mid class hotel .. but listen, this doesn't apply to people who are born and brought up in Bangalore with family. I see most of the outsider who reside in Bangalore they go to hotels for food. Be it breakfast, lunch or dinner... This applies to every human who are born and brought up in there place they wouldn't go to hotel for food 3 times. I had been to A2B for the first time when travelling, we stopped for breakfast and had good food, but when I saw the bill it was ₹1000rs+. This price for 5 people for breakfast.😮😮😮. That was last time I had food there... Not offencive, but I can't afford so much for money.
Food is very cheap in India. But rent for the place and employee salary is as per the other businesses. So no hotels can make money unless there is enormous crowd eating. We eat food for 100 rupees per time. How much margin can resides in 100 rupees item. Just for 100 or 150 rupees revenue, the hotel serve you for 30 mins average. Note: I am not in hotel business. I know something about business. There are other businesses they sell items worth in thousands in 30 mins and keep margin of 4%. eg: gold jewelry shop. At the end of the day, either a gold jewelry or a hotel, they have to get profit for what they pay for rent and salary and raw materials.

If some one start a restaurent in a city, the advance for building + rent + few month employee salary + raw material cost is 15 to 20 lakhs. They have to get enough customers just to run the restaurent with zero profit for few months. Otherwise they can get back only the advance from building owner. The money we are paying to the hotel where you regulary eat goes like 15% to food cost. Remaining 75% to the other expenses like rent, salary etc.

A2B is a notable restaurent in food industry/chain of restaurent. Many others might have tried and failed. Our Indian food has shelf life. If you cook, you have to sell them within hours. If A2B owner some part of his wealth into other businesses like gold retail, finance or Software, he could have earned upto 30% ROI for many years. He could have invested in running a cotton mill or even a sugar mill to earn money. Hotel is a industry that is visible to commen man like us as we are regularly going and eating there. The branded foreign restaurent brands like Jubliant Food or Devyani Int, are having ROE of 7 or even negative.

The moments where you stand and wait for your turn/your poondu dosa to cook and get crispier.. with piping hot dosas to egg aapams, to spicy chutnyes to mutton and chicken side dish... That food cart is Al a carte/ fine dining for me❤ food will create a foodprint in your heart.. with its taste and memories that it comes with. Ps: kp takeaway, your innovation must bring people closer to food, not the opposite. I have seen my childhood that lot of hotels that if any homeless person comes and stand in front of a hotel , there will be someone inside the hotel rush and give a food and make him go away . It’s just not only about make him go away they know that he won’t be lost to give one free food. Even if some good people work in these places want to help , it will take 15 mins give him a fresh food.
