The Malaysian Chineses’ ancestor left China for Malaysia before the Cultural Revolution, making our traditional culture intact and distinct. We still speak our Southern Chinese languages (Cantonese, Hokkien, Hakka, Teochew, Hainan, Fuzhou, Guangxi, Sankiang), and retain a lot of the old customs and culture. The high pole lion dance, Lou sang, Bakuteh dish were invented in Malaysia. We too produce the most Chinese New Year songs, even more than China Hong Kong and Taiwan.
