MAC has asserted that the Scar is a “proven failed system” and is only relevant as a “collectors item.” I’ve asked him a few times to elaborate on that or explain what makes the scar a “proven failed system” but he hasn’t replied.

12gaugeTim interesting as he has videos as far back as 2016/2017 where he’s gushing on the SCAR 17 as a high-end performance battle rifle. His ultimate SCAR 17s video sings high praise for it, so I’m guessing he’s just not crazy about the 16?

I just got my Bren 2 carbine this week and I love it! I'm slightly disappointed in the amount of up and down play in the stock though. The trigger is amazing for a military rifle. Over travel is a bit much, but compared to a factory scar trigger or even m4 it's almost a match trigger in comparison. Hopefully cz will come out with the correct hand guard and sell the iron sights!

We can only WISH to see that Bren 2 BR make it to the U.S....Courtesy of our beloved U.S. government, they have made it extremely difficult for companies like CZ to import goodies. Each firearm has to have at least 10+ American made parts assembled into it. This whole "10+ rule" is ridiculous. Maybe one day my friend, maybe one day..........

Alex Ferrara What about CZ-USA? They manufacture most of them in KC, I’ve got a cousin out there as an accountant. If I recall correctly, they do sell a Bren 2 Ms. It’s not an BR, but it’s still a Bren. On top of that, it’s still the same rifle, from the same company.

    • @alexferrara9287

@@a-cell4564 CZ-USA is a wonderful company. They're sort of the distributor/manufacturer here on U.S. soil. The guns they manufacture in KC are U.S. compliant from the get go. When I say, "U.S. compliant", I mean those firearms are manufactured to fit the "10+ U.S. made parts" rule. I still LOVE the products that come out of there but, it's just not the same imho. For instance, the first shipment of the original Bren 2's came in a limited number of 300. The original 300 were basically 100% Czech made and were the military variants (select fire capability). Which had a totally different handguard than what we see now. They still had the 805 look where the upper receiverwas the handguard. The civilian variants that followed, were the Bren 2 Ms's on the CZ-USA website. They only came in 8 inch and 11 inch barrels. The handguard looks like a seperate piece and it heats up quicker than the old one. The new Bren 2 Ms is the same as the 8 inch and 11 inch variants. It has the same handguard except, it has a 14 inch barrel, and they're considering it the carbine/rifle version. It's a phenomenal rifle but, I prefer the handguard quality and simplicity on the original 300 Bren 2's that came in. CZ-USA wanted a more modular weapon and the U.S. government has that stupid 10+ rule, so that's what were stuck with. I'm all for modularity but, let us choose what we want on or off our weapons.

That Bren 2 is listed on a french website called armurerie-lavaux. I will probably try to get informations about it in the future since there is a CZ sponsored sports shooting range where I live with CZ instructors and stuff. We may have shitty regulations in France but that particular Bren 2 with military handguard is one of the cool things we have along with russian Izhmash AKs, including the civilian AK-12 version being commercialized here. The only problem is shooting ranges owned by old farts only tolerating pussy calibers, 25m static position shooting, that kind of european mentality that shooters start to boycott here to favor more tactical disciplines.

At this point, I don't see what can be debated. Shit, even the Bren 805 was a great substitute for the SCAR. Honestly Tim, I would much rather see you compare the Bren 2 MS carbine vs. the SIG Virtus again, an update on your opinion would be interesting. Lets see a battle of pistols, Bren 2s (original) pistol vs. Sig MCX Virtus Pistol. This is a more, apples to apples comparison of MIL adopted weapons. Bren 2Ms Carbine is a sporter version, it's not authentic or true to form. This series could go on, Jasons Bren 2s 7.62x39 vs. Galil ACE 7.62x39 (both modern adopted MIL weapons).

It seems the supressor turns around during the shooting. I say that because at the beginning of the supressor shooting, the lock was at position 12 and after the first shots, it was like 2 or 3 o'clock. Did you see that or Am I seeing things that was not happening?

I would love to see a run and gun while getting the elements inside the action to check the overall reliability of this beauty. Also how easy it is to use in a life or death situation. It's a shame I have to think about that now days when I buy a gun. Any who shoot safe brother and be safe out there.

What does the gas mean for the Bren2 pistols if running suppressed? It ruins the gun?

I was kind of ambivalent on the CZ after watching the Virtus vs Bren video, but now I’m really digging it. Wonder how long before someone starts making an aftermarket gas plug aimed at suppression, with two tighter gas ports and a cutoff?

    Mac,
Have you tried running the Bren with an OSS can yet? If so do you believe the 11" 7.62x39 could be hearing safe?

It would be awesome if they would "civilianize" the BR version in 308. I have seen where you should not use Pmags and really only metal magazines for the rifle to cycle properly? Thoughts. I have seen several Bren 2 vs SCAR reviews already and the Bren wins all of them at half the price. Thank you CZ keep sending them over to the USA.

Did CZ mention if they would make Euro spec barrel and hand guards available in the US?

Cool now that there is a clarification of the gas plug now the question is: can you swap that plug for the pistol version? I'm gonna assume the answer is no but it would be interesting to find out.
And add my vote for yes to the Bren and Scar comparison

I would like to see what kind of groups it will shoot with the current issue 62 gr SS109 ammo
Also a heavy bullet ammo , like 75 gr factory load , for more of a squad sniper use

Would definitely like to see a battle of suppressed rifles that shoot accurately and don’t gas the heck outta you. Would be great to see a variety of different rifles from piston to DI. You could even throw in a accuracy challenge for funsies

Great information, as usual. Question about the Griffin Armament m4qd2...I know it fits a standard birdcage, but does the birdcage need to have shims installed behind it first? Or is it good to go “as is” from the factory (Colt LE6920). Thanks.

Did they say the gas system on the pistol variants are the same as the carbine (with the second position designed for suppressor use)? I'd think so, considering the gas ports appear similarly sized. The owner's manual doesn't state that specifically though (for my pistol, anyway). Confirmation from CZ would be great.

It seems like we need pistons to have 4 settings. Adverse>Normal>Suppressed>Off
Or to do the AK think and say "Nyet, open is open"

Sad that my 14" pistol has a bayonet lug, flip sights, and light barrel and this carbine doesn't. Someone just get me a bren 2 stock hahahaha I have an sba3 right now but the second they have a dedicated folding brace for it I'll be getting one. Sb tac has already confirmed that one is in the works so hopefully in the next year or so... still want a real cz stock or acr stock but idk if its worth the pain in the ass to sbr it.
