Brilliant video Nick - I'm so glad that this building wasn't demolished as so often is the way in our city! What a location to have an apartment too, with a view of BM Dock if you're a Blue and can afford it!!
I love the video. My great-grandmother and her husband's aunt worked at the Stanley Tabacco Warehouse. I knew about my great-grandmother but not the aunt. The aunt was a tobacco stripper, and my great-grandmother was a tobacco packer. Apparently, that meant she packed the casks. But I just found out yesterday that this was the location. So cool.. Thanks for sharing. I'll be subscribing so I can see more..
That is one impressive building - looks great from the air. Must be around 35 years since I went past the Tobacco Warehouse. Back in the day, I didn't really pay much attention to it. In mind, I half expected that the building was had been torn down and lost forever, So I am looking forward to seeing future videos too.
Great video. I got told off my the Albert Dock yesterday by a bloke from Nottingham. Glad you are doing the new stand and evertons ground and vids like this. love your vids. inspiring as im early in my drone journey
Thanks for the video I have been curious about this myself. Every time I go past on the Northern Line there doesn't seem to be much progress each time but it is slowly adding up. It is a pretty big building so I guess that they could be forgiven for taking their time! I haven't been up there on foot for a while but your video reminded me of just how enormous the Tobacco Warehouse is, an incredible feat of engineering and vision!
morning nick...brill video, many thanks..just out of intrest on a episode of the boys from the blackstuff filmed in the early 80s,it does show a few clips of demolishing the tate & lyle warehouse etc on the dock rd somewhere, just wondered where that location was??....cheers nick..keep em coming...
Hi Nick amazing building, would be handy to live there when the stadium is open if you’re an Everton fan 🤔🙂 wonder what kind of prices they go for - any idea ?!! Cheers Dave C
Good news that they're saving the facade of this building as it appears to be an Old World Tartarian structure. The ornamentation on each corner at the top and the triangular gables running along it near the roof are clues that it could be. Also of note are the castle like columns next to the pavement. Another Old World marker. Bootle docks have lots of these dotted around 😎⚓
For any of your viewers that don't know, the water alongside is the original end of the Leeds Liverpool Canal before they extended it along the docks to the Albert Dock.
For a Scouser overseas your posts are great thanks. I wonder how much they will cost and how many units there will be. I'm shocked there is so much money around in liverpool to purchase these. Or is it outsiders moving into the city. You can see how that area should be set for the next hundred years Amazing transformation of the City the past 30 years more so the past 10 years Pity the money isn't being spread out to the suburbs. Liverpool has great old architectural buildings all over. A good place to see one of them is the cottage homes in Fazakerley with the clock tower. Used to house orphaned children..
The clock tower has been completely redone recently with the majority of the rest of the buildings on clock tower park. I am down there with my lad every Friday for the last couple of years for his swimming class at the pool there so have seen it progressing along well
Seems to be taking them a long time to get this done. Is that because of complications of it being listed? Refreshing to see the older buildings being refused rather than knocked down like elsewhere.
Hi Nick, Ann from NZ. How many apartments will there be in that building? I guess the prime views will be taken up pretty quickly especially facing the Mersey. Some apartments look like they may never get any sun in them, would that be the case? Thanks again Nick. Nice to see the sun out at your place!...🙃SMiley from downunder
It's not Nick but it's been 11 months so I'll try to answer for you😊 There are slightly under 600 apartments I think. You might be right about the light. The worst for that are the lower south facing apartments. They directly face the south warehouse. That's why the courtyard is yellow, to try and brighten things up.
They are meant to be reworking it. Into what I have no idea, there has been rumors that they are meant to be making it into either single bedroom apartments or a office complex.
Amazing vid Nick it looks a solid building from the outside,I didn't know it was actually hollow inside,by the way you still haven't done a vid showing how tall the new Everton stadium is looking from both buildings 😉

Gutted to see that Just Tyres behind your bobble on Dublin St has gone. Never spent more than £40 a wheel on any of my cars there.

Nice one mate, I wondered about the Tobacco warehouse
More great work there Mr D, What a fab location this is going to be right next door the EFC stadium at Bramley Moore Dock!

Most of the work is inside
What a big building this is looks amazing cheers mr drone
Thank you. 😀
Great video mate👍🏼. You picked a lovely day for it too. Liverpool has some amazing architecture. I just hope future developments don't spoil it.

Great footage. Can you do a video of the radar tower at crosby marina. I visited it recently, its unfortunately looks like its days are numbered.
Good video thanks lee

@Gary McClatchey thanks appreciate grew up in Gribble road, enjoy the pool.
Sadly in Liverpool many building projects only get half built they seem to get abandoned, i hope this project gets finished.
Seems to be taking them a long time to get this done. Is that because of complications of it being listed?
Refreshing to see the older buildings being refused rather than knocked down like elsewhere.
Slow sales I'd imagine.
Direct over head shots of each hollow out section would appreciated. Your camerawork as come on in bounds👍🏻
What an impressive building, that middle section with the yellow is a bit prison yardy though.
Not much natural light. I think the yellow is supposed to brighten it up.
I love mills and warehouses tbh, built to last.
That makes sense about the yellow. @@peterainsworth8026

@@peterainsworth8026 Thank you Peter for answering my question. All the best.
Is the smaller warehouse being redeveloped...i can see grass and weeds growing out of the roof...or will this be a project too far...?
They are meant to be reworking it. Into what I have no idea, there has been rumors that they are meant to be making it into either single bedroom apartments or a office complex.
I've seen the plans. An aparthotel is planned for the upper floors with bars and restaurants on the ground and leisure attractions in the basement.

I don't think it was originally. Had to ensure apartments in the middle had windows/light?
What an awful colour yellow on the inner walls. I wonder what the residents think?
Reflecting nicotine stains from its previous life perhaps.
I wonder if it's to maximise light
@@andyliv78 yes I thought that also but could you live with that colour? Plenty of other light reflecting colours…
