The Stage 9 project was awesome and was a real slap in the face to Trekkies that CBS wouldn't make a deal with the devs. I've tried out the Starship simulator too, and it's pretty great.
I can't believe stamping on something like that benefits them.

I didn't get to download the stage 9, but did see the youtube video tours, it was an extraordinary piece of work! If CBS were not going to do something like it, why the heck shut it down? very sad....

Keeping in mind it is a simulator and not a game like Elite:Dangerous, what does it simulate? Looking at the footage the ship flies in front of a planet and comes to a complete hold!? How does that work? Reducing velocity is achieved by entering an orbital flight and not by pushing a brake or what so ever. Strange physics may be?

This is a pre-pre-alpha tech demo. It's still far from complete. The most complete mechanic at the moment seems to be the ship's electrical grid, and most of the development at the moment seems to be focused on finishing the structure of the ship and ironing out the procedural-generated galaxy. Orbital mechanics are planned, but it will probably still be a while before they get started on that aspect.
I start playing as soon as it has native VR. I do not play flat screen games.
