I liked what you said about not comparing yourself to others, we all do the best we can. I used to watch a girls homestead channel and she moved to a big house and had garden architects and landscapers and she had a baby who you never see even if she is canning for 12 hours, so you know she has a nanny or something. She has every piece of kitchen equipment under the sun. The comments made me sad, all the young women saying they want to be like her.
Yes we do and its all you can do. It's so hard not to compare though! I used to find myself comparing myself to others that were lightyears ahead of me but quickly realized it wasn't practical for me. I eventually just had to stop following others because I was one of the ones in the comments wanting to be like them. I have slowly learned especially since having my own channel there is always so much going on that is not shown.
I love your sink, I hope some day you can get it reglazed. I have my grandparents iron wedding bed. Their house was torn down after my grandmother died and I was devastated because I lived across country and didn't get a chance to get anything. An uncle found out and went to the dump to retrieve the bed for me. I absolutely love it and remember many cousins piled up under quilts and jumping on it in the summer.
Thank you so much! I hope we can have it reglazed someday too! That is so awesome! I’m so glad he went and got it for you. Those are such special memories to have.
Love this! Also, I think it’s so wild how you said “catching up on baking,” as that’s one of your regular tasks. Everyone’s lives are so different and it’s so fun to see you living yours!
My mother made biscuits everyday and she used lard. I never saw her measure a thing. I need to work on my biscuit skills. 😊 That cake was beautiful and I bet it was delicious!
I wanted to share a cooking tip 🙂. When emptying mixture from a mixing bowl use a spatula to scrape out the inside of the bowl. This makes sure all of the mixture makes it into your cake/recipe and the mixing bowl is super easy to clean as there’s hardly if any mixture left in the bowl. 🌸
First time here and am in awe of your beautiful kitchen!!😮❤ I think I’m old enough now (50) That I’ve learned to be inspired by others but not to compare myself to them. There’s just some things that are simple not in the cards for me or my family, yet I can lean into those things that others have more knowledge about and that spark my desire to learn and go from there. Again though you have a gorgeous kitchen and collection.
I loved this video. You are so talented in the kitchen for a 25 year old! When I grow up I want to know as much as you do…I’m 59!🤦🏼♀️. Live seeing these videos!
I enjoy your videos so much!! Sometimes I just put them on while I am working and it makes the time past in such a pleasant way. I'm an old lady and do everything the old ways that my Granny taught me. You have such a beautiful home and I love the way you respect the past. Thank you for sharing your videos!
I freeze my cookie dough balls too. I love a fresh cookie and hot chocolate each night. That cake looks gorgeous and delicious. I bet Ben secretly loves how beautiful your food looks.
Very full day & very impressive, you have way more energy than I have. I think your system of a full day in the kitchen is a great plan. It's good to do a lot of baking on the same day, the oven is already warmed up. All the prep ahead of time, for the week, good idea! Every time I see you working your kitchen, I just fall in love with the yellow cabinets all over again, they are so lovely!
Do you save your tea bags? I squeeze out by hand all the tea liquid. Then I set the tea bags to dry out. Then when I have time, I cut with scissors the tea bags open and put tea leaves in jar with lid. When the jar gets full , I mix with garden soil. It helps your garden.
I just rendered some leaf lard. I did it on low in my crockpot. I spooned off the lard as soon as it began to liquify. My first jar was pure white with no taste or oder. The second pint was a tiny bit tan as the cracklings were beginning to form. I use the first for baking and the second for sautéing. With that being said, I use 1/2 lard and 1/2 butter for biscuits and pie crusts. Your video is lovely. You have captured a good pace and kept the music low enough to stay in the background. I just found you and subscribed. Keep up the great work! God bless.
Just came across your channel. I had to click on your video when I saw your gorgeous kitchen! I love all your vintage/antique pieces and the warm wood tones everywhere. Good job designing it!!
New subscriber here, love your video. Favorite quote that I keep in my mind “Comparison is the thief of joy” -Theodore Roosevelt Y’all are doing great, looking forward to watching your other videos ❤
My first visit here. Love your content. Love your heart. Beautiful kitchen. Also too, may I please ask you where you got those bowls? I have been looking for them but I don't know what to type in other than what I have already been.
Hi! 👋🏼 Thanks for visiting my channel! Thank you so much! ❤️ I usually get all of my bowls from the antique store but if you type in “vintage yellow and blue crock bowls” or “vintage yellow and blue pottery bowls” on Google they will come up. I hope this helps.
Stumbled across your channel.. Being a Ky girl, I am glad to see a you tuber from Ky.. Love your home and I am excited to view your content.. New subscriber as well. Connie from Ky
Ok so what did I get out of this video? I want to make chocolate chip cookies. 😂😂 No seriously, those will be yummy but I love the comparison talk. I’ve been married going on 23 years and my kids are teens, ones in an adult in a couple of months but I still deal with that. So much that I took a you tube break recently and unsubscribed from several people. I’ve found myself hitting the “don’t recommend” too. Not that they are bad people but I feel like it’s not reality and yes many have a lot of people off camera doing the work. It was making me feel like I was not able to do anything well. I don’t do any social media platforms except you tube and Pinterest. Keep up the good work!!
Definitely make the cookies, you won’t regret it, lol! I have done the same thing with needing to take social media breaks. I totally understand what you’re saying. Thank you! ❤️
Beautiful cake! One tip I learned with the parchment under the cake while you frost, instead of one big piece of parchment under the whole cake, do three or four strips of parchment and just tuck them under the edges and around the cake enough to protect that lovely cake stand from the messy frosting. Then you can slip each strip of parchment out without leaving any under the cake. I adore your kitchen!!!
I think the life your living is very authentic, its a better path for having peace and fulfillment.
I couldn’t agree more. ❤️

@@LewisAcresHomesteadWell lots of people look up to you too but I hope you never change because how real you are is what we love.
I think being YOU is more important than wanting to be like the others!
I never tire of seeing your beautiful kitchen!
I never get tired of being in there. It is still my favorite room in the house!

I love that you made a round cake and beautiful too. We referred to them as a “Proper Cake”, because 9x13’s were only for potlucks.
That is so fun to know! I had no idea that was a thing.
Love this! Also, I think it’s so wild how you said “catching up on baking,” as that’s one of your regular tasks. Everyone’s lives are so different and it’s so fun to see you living yours!

No, I’ve never saved them, but I’m definitely going to start! I didn’t even know you could use them to help your garden.
Thanks Sarah, for wonderful vlog. I don't remember it, so this must be my first viewing. ❤😊

Beautiful kitchen
Thank you!
Avocado oil would be a good substitute for the lard in the cake.
It definitely would! I love using it in recipes but hate how expensive it is.
Enjoyed the video 😊

Hello. New to your channel. Really enjoying it. What is the silver machine on your counter that you get water from
Hi! 👋🏼 It is a Berkey water filter.
I love those bowls! Where are they from?
I'm not sure which bowls you're referring to but if its the yellow and blue bowls they are vintage. I usually find them at antique stores.
Where did you get those yellow cabinets
They came from an auction.
That mixing bowl is beautiful and very old looking
Thank you! It’s old I’m just not sure how old.
What did you do to the metal backsplash on your stove to make it look so nice?
When I first got the stove I cleaned and polished it with barkeepers friend but now I just use regular cleaner on it.
