    The new W.9 Gearbox unit from SEW Eurodrive is a good exemple of what is possible with spiriod technology.
    The W.9 has the ratio range and acoustic engagement of 2 stage worm gear units and is more efficient than bevel gear / hypoid gear units.

    The 3d CAD model on 43 sec ov the video seems to be incorrect. You can see an interference between the teeth of the gear and the worm pinion. The manufacturing process shows hobbibg only, which requires special fixture to support the end of the hob from deflections and the hub itself is very special and higher cost. The hub needs to be as small as the pinion so it cannot cut large quantity of the gears. The other noticeable issue with this promotion is that it does not show tooth contact pattern. The video shows the gears individually but not in mesh with good contact. The video shows 3d models but does not show good tooth contact pattern simulation. Failure to prove the contact pattern in 3d together with interference on 3d models(43 second of the video) makes customers skeptical about resulting quality of the gears. The video is not showing the modern trend in gear industry: cutting gears on universal CNC milling machines. The face gear shown has an advantage to be cut on 3-axis CNC. Most of the plastic gear manufacturers do not even hub the gears. They cit the molding cavity tools from 3d CAD models. But this video does not show correct 3d CAD models. I think this promotion would benefit much with the following additional videos:
    - correct 3d CAD modeling of the gears
    - correct tooth contact simulation in 3d
    - simulation of the tooth contact with misaligned shafts
    - cutting the gear on 3-axis CNC

      If it is a Proprietary and patented thread pattern, manufactured on their own equipment developed exclusively for this thread geometry, why would it need to be compatible with 3-Axis.

      trapezoid thread was known long time ago where one side was straight
      carrying more force
      also the process as i know was the pfauter
      klingelnberg had similar process, but teeth were ""symmetrical""
      inded what i found new the gear skiving straight and helical gears can be manufactured in fraction of time compared with maag or pfauter
