    Going to give these a try early next week. My daughter uses Solinco Revolution 16L (main) 18 (x) in her PA 98 strung 54-50. Above 90 degrees the Solico will last 3 group session without dropping much tension and offer great control as well. The issue is, these will get stiff and hard on the arm when temp drop below 65 (even after lowering the tension) So I am looking for a softer setup for her, something with 1, pocketing, 2 feel, 3 control and hopefully some decent tension maintenance. I’ll probably come back here in a week with an update. Thanks for the review

      @@TK-Tennisso, we are in the process of testing right now. benchmarking it against the Revolution 16L / 18X that tends to be on the stiff side of polys. Also, I need to point out; I accidentally purchased the Toro-Toro and NOT the O-Toro… But, I think it’s even better since I believe the 1.27mm (?) Toro-Toro is stiffer than the O-Toro (based on website description)
      The X is the Enzo in the thinner gauge. I “Ballpark’d” the tension to 50M, 45X in the PA98 bc I didn’t have a reference point for these strings at the given temp, racquet etc. Daughter’s reaction is that it is very soft, (comfortable) very powerful but at the same time, very manageable. Has great pocketing which is a must for her. The Solinco Rev is still the preferred setup but due to some injuries, the Toroline is a great substitute - for now. Going to keep this for at least another week and, might string up another racquet with the same strings but a bit higher tension. It usually takes us 4-8 sets of stings before we are able to dial in the “sweet spot” for a given brand/gauge etc.
      Not sure if it matters but the racquet she uses is the 2024 Babolat PA98, with static weight of 330+ overgrip, 5.5PT HL and no clue about the swing weight. Lead in the 10-2 and at 7” on the handle (under the grip)

    O-toro are the best steings I've ever used. They add a ton of free power without sacrificing spin or control. I'm a 4.5 player and highschool level coach. I hit hard and my students that hit hard love this string too. We call it our cheat mode. I string it at 60lbs in my Solinco racquets and it's amazing.

    • @TK-Tennis
      @TK-Tennis  4 місяці тому +2

      I did not find that to be the case whatsoever, but it is all subjective. From my experience, Restring Zero provides the most power for free of any poly I've tried to date and O-Toro was not in that league. I actually think big hitters like it not because it gives additional power for free, but instead allows big hitters to hit-out on their shots more comfortably without sacrificing control

      @@TK-Tennis restring zero was my favorite str8ng before o-toro. I'm guessing it also depends on the racquet and how it compliments it. O-toro feels like we're getting 15-20% more power. What racquet and tension do you use?

      @@PeterNordstrom-rd3ifI'm with you Peter Nordstrom, this string is pretty amazing. I had my doubts after watching TK 's subjective video. I've been using restring zero for about a year, felt great with spin and power. The only thing I didn't like to much was the feel, it felt to plasticky for me. So I went on my string journey and tried toroline wasabi, caviar, and ether. Ether was the one I liked but was stiff. The other two wasabi and caviar was a little muted for me and reminded me of restring zero. But I had to try the O Toro everybody's been raven about. Even strung my racket at 55 lbs on a Wilson pro staff v13 felt great. It has the spin and power of the restring zero and felt very lively. Going to be interesting to see how long they will last with tension and snapback. It's definitely a great string so far and a must try

      I also think it's so racket dependent. I liked the Restring Zero in my Speed Pro 2022 at 47 pounds but just like Wasabi way more due to the power. I'm also a 4.5 level player with strong spinny forehand and weaker backhand. I think I'll give O Toro a try after Toro Toro before making a call what to play with long term... I've been trying strings for the last 9 months...

    As with rackets I want controllable feel and power but something that gives me extra when I put in extra. I feel like a lot of strings and racket that have this something for free technology like the new blade v9 16/19 when I want to really flatten it out and go for it I often get this feeling like the power output has maxed out and it dies and gives me less power than an average clean shot.

      My most common poly recommendation between 3.5 and 4.5 is Kirshbaum Orange. It's a very comfortable soft-poly that has great feel and pop and is incredibly budget friendly. For the price and playability it's really hard to beat, it's worth a try. Thanks for subscribing and I hope I steer you in the right direction, but you won't hurt my feeling if you don't like it...it's all personal preference after all. I did a review on it as well.

    Interestingly toro toro (which you rated highly) has higher dynamic stiffness than O-toro, maybe they react differently at different string tension?

      I love this comment and I think I want to make a video response about human subjectivity versus technical properties of strings, and what matters most. There is a good motorsports/motocross analogy related to measured horsepower and usable horsepower able to be managed by the rider, and what is more important related to outcomes. Thanks for the comment and stay tuned for a video coming soon.

    • @mancio-29
      @mancio-29 Місяць тому

      Just watching your video I think your technique is sound but you’re not generating a high swing speed, it looks like a warm-up rally to me…with most toroline strings you need that extra swing speed to activate the string (I think you said it yourself for O-toro, wasabi and supertoro). I would also suggest to go a couple of pounds lower and differentiate main/crosses. I have been trying 48/46 toro toro and wasabi and I would struggle with 50 pounds. My technique is solid and generate a heavier ball with load of topspin.
      Funnily enough I have just tried wasabi and compared to toro toro I found it more comfortable, incredibly powerful but only when you get over a certain threshold, so powerful that I would be curios to try wasabi main and toro toro crosses.

  • @mancio-29
    @mancio-29 10 днів тому

    I have emailed Toroline and they say O-toro is lower powered compared to Wasabi and Toro Toro. Since I prefer low tension around 48/46 pounds, they say O-toro is a better fit for low tension. So this could be a hint, dropping a few pounds to release some power. This string has a much higher resilience peak, so it should come off the string bed very quickly with low dwell time. Did anybody experience that?

They are pretty notched up in the sweet spot but still snapping back no problem. They have nice pop, seem pretty lively and responsive. I dont think they are amazing but solid. Have you seen the Tennis Nerd review of this string from 2 days ago. He's says its super soft! How can yours and hit reviews be so different??

    • @TK-Tennis
      @TK-Tennis  2 місяці тому +1

      I did. It could be string tension, weather or other factors...but frankly anyone suggesting this is "Super soft" either misspoke or is flat-out wrong. I could see players thinking it is "Medium soft" as far as poly's go because there are Poly's that are clearly stiffer/firmer but it is not a SOFT poly by any means. Unless there are special circumstances like arm issues, high caliber and pro players never want their strings to feel soft, and O-Toro was developed for high caliber players. O-Toro may be slightly less stiff than Super Toro, but make no mistake it is still a demanding string for most.
      While string tests are subjective, I have a clear and consistent process when play testing strings. I use the same racquet, same tensions and always play back-to-back with another racquet which gives me a basis to control or lessen variables. Jonas has a great channel and I watch his content with admiration, but in this case and his views about heavy racquets, I wholly disagree with his views.

      @@TK-Tennis I tried my to compare my fave blend so far of Super Toro mains with Super Smash crosses to O-Toro mains with Super Smash crosses. I didn’t really feel much difference side by side in the same rackets, Yonex RDiS 100 Mid. I strung mains at 50lbs no pre-stretch and crosses at 53lbs 10% pre-stretched. Very little difference, just a tad more spin/power with Super Toro mains and a bit more control with O-Toro mains. O-Toro seems to hold tension better and notches up less, snapping back in place even after 6-7h of hitting. Will try it in tourney settings next, best way to make a decision imo :) Thank you again for your videos, I probably wouldn’t consider trying such blends. I spent the last 4 days playing with Toro Toro and that review is coming out very soon and I think it may surprise, it did for me.
      btw, food for thought. When I was playing with O-Toro I was alternating between it and KO as I was hitting with a regular hitting partner. He does not know I do string reviews and as I was alternating between strings, he stopped me and asked why I was switching. I told him I was just trying out a new string and he said, "whenever you switch to the Orange string your ball has more jump and it's more challenging for me". This was a completely unsolicited moment and I would not have noticed this effect from my side of the net. He said you should stick with the Orange, this is when I knew O-Toro was not giving me any power for free versus KO.

Then figured the MP would be more fitting and it was, however I wanted to be able the customize the balance and swing weight. There is not a lot of flexibility when customizing a MP or most other 300g racquets, so I decided to go down to the MPL as a more flexible starting platform. If you also have very topspin oriented strokes, I can see why you would be using a spin oriented string with that setup. I used Confidential extensively for a period of time and I consider it a Medium-Soft poly, much like O-Toro. They differ a bit in feel with Confidential being slightly more muted (If I remember right) and O-Toro providing more signal/feedback. I also think Confidential has a little more pop for free, but only very slightly. Confidential has a slightly slower snap-back and O-Toro is a little more aggressive, and I'm not suggesting aggressive snapback is better. Just dropped my racket to be strung with these - before I watched this video. I am 4.0. I will see how it feels to me

      It's all personal preference and maybe you'll love them, but interested to hear your thoughts after you've had a fair amount of time using them.

      @@TK-Tennis I have played 2 matches now with the string and I have to agree - your review was very accurate. I agree this is string for high level players. I did notice that metal feeling. Its advertised as the top spin and arm friendly string, but I didn’t notice that it gave additional spin. Spin is good, but I thought this one will be very good. I play a 18x20 string pattern - this string can feel really rewarding, but hits out the sweet spot looses impact - therefore yes its a string for really good players. I am still going to play more. For some reason I cant put it down yet. I played really well with the string and I am adjusting to the string. I need to play some more - but mostly I think you did a really good review and summary. This string is not a string that will give you free anything.

      @@jean-pierreuys1554 Did the metallic sound go away for you after a couple of sessions? It's nice to hear you had a similar experience. Something I may have not mentioned in the video, is that slightly off-center hits the string can feel dead, but on-center hits reward you with what you expect, nothing more, nothing less.

      @@TK-Tennis You mentioned the off-center hits. I dont hear the metallic sound anymore. I have to say, I cant put the racket down. I have been playing really, really well with it. It's interesting. It's a very consistent result / feeling when you hit it well and control. I dont notice really increased spin, but lots more control. I am waiting to play a match against a very advanced player and want to see how it plays then.

    Good honest review, love it. I hope you can find time to review the Sinner/zverev string: Head hawk touch and the Swiatek string: TF razor code white.🙏

      Good timing! My son has been using Head Hawk Touch for about a year and that one is on-deck. TF Razor code has been on my radar, but that one may be a while.

      I'm a 4.5 player and used Head Hawk Touch 17g for a while on the Head Gravity Tour and the Head Extreme Tour. It's easy on the arm, more of a muted control string. Spin and power is average. Has good touch/feel on the ball. Maintains tension well.
      I haven't tested the Razor Code White, but I really didn't like the Razor Code Black.
      I do like Medvedev's new string, Razor Code Soft... It's more for players who have a full swing and generate their own power. It's a control string with nice spin/touch.
      My favorite string setup right now though is the Toroline K-Pro or the Super Toro. K-Pro has the edge because it's easier on the arm.
