Excellent video! Fingers crossed I can get one for use with my TX81Z. Programming the TX is an absolute breeze I've found, but being able to assign paramaters like frequency and envelope controls to the sliders sounds so cool...Just missed one for sale for £52 on eBay!
I routinely put saved searches together for gear I'm hunting on eBay and will receive emails when new listings hit the mark. Don't lose hope: you'll find a unit sooner than you think on eBay or REVERB.
There was a solution like you mention but when I looked into the matter, the guy who came up with the solution told me it was no longer in production or available for the PC1600. Can't find the link I followed to reach him.
Thanks for this great video. I checked my battery...not as bad as yours but worth a look. I think the mod to eliminate the battery is still a viable option. Anyone ever done a video for that? Omg...multimeter shows 1.6volts across battery...it's dead. So odd, it powers up fine, actually shows version 2.3 even though the rom says pc1600 (no "x"). Hmmmm.
Glad you enjoyed the video; thanks for letting me know. It could be that the standard non-"x" version reached version 2.3 before the "x" version was released. When I bought my PC1600, the guy I bought it from online included the old rom before he upgraded to the 2.2 "x" version installed in my particular machine. Not sure I have the old rom; if I run across it, I'll post what version it was.... may be that can shed some light on the mystery you're presented with currently.
i just bought one with the same problem for cheap and this video is a lifesaver 🙌 we need more videos like this
Great video

Simple, solid, and sooooo needing some attention, the Peavey PC1600 gets a quick look inside.
schematics are at the rear of the manual. nearly everything is socketed. i replaced my 20x2 with VFD. Jittery faders, look at LM311 circuit.
Yes, indeed; I wish schematics were included with all gear manuals.
WHAT IS ITS SIZE I SEARCHED THE HOLE INTRANet
That nasty corrosion pic was certainly click bait. Great job with the video!
Sadly that was the actual battery I had to replace inside this unit. Glad you enjoyed the video Christopher.
I forgot what exactly but I replaced the ram and this omits the use of a battery altogether.

what are the physical dimensions of this unit?
Approx. 17" x 6.5" x 1.75"
