    Hey everyone! Just wanted to add a clarification to the shade numbers on the video for the Sennelier Oil Pastels. I misread the light green pastel as 206 but it is 205 so just wanted to make that clear! Thanks for all your lovely comments and love on this video! I really appreciate it 🧡🥰

    The pencil roll is amazing! The olive brown Neocolor would be really nice with the coral pencil to make cherry blossom branches and things. Your color palette is so pretty. I bought a Talens sketchbook after seeing your videos and wasn't so happy with it, although I did feel free and clear to make 3 sketchy paintings right away, something I rarely can bring myself to do with a new sketchbook. Then I watched this video where you said the pages aren't precious in these books. And I thought OH YEAH that is so true. The colors are quite pretty too, so I'm back to loving it. I will gesso it sometimes to make it whiter, wondering why they went with file folder yellow. Thanks for the modest art haul video. I can see you using all of these items regularly. Remember the Sennelier isn't too precious, less expensive than a cup of coffee. So use it and enjoy it and just buy yourself another one when you run out. I love the textured ink. Now I'm trying to think of a way to add the texture to some inks I have. I don't think it's a flaw!

      Aah you are so kind, thank you so much! Ooh yes it would, especially as it's cherry blossom season! I totally know what you mean about the Royal Talens paper - I've been using them for so many years now I think I forget how cream it is as it's basically all I use! But I do remember when I first got one that I hated it!! I'd only had pure white + thick paper sketchbooks before so it was a big change, but really helped me loosen up and experiment because I wasn't being precious. You're so right about the Sennelier pastels too, I know I'll get a lot of use out of these colours. Thank you for watching and commenting! 🥰

    I'd love to see what those dark gray/black Neocolors looked like when you add some water. The two colors that look so similar dry might look quite different when wet. I would try stirring the Wallace Seymour ink with a toothpick so you really mix up all the pigment that has settled to the bottom of the bottle. I love the texture you got when you painted the ink over your entire page. Thanks for the video.

      Ooh yes that's such a good point! I'll have to test it with the water and see 😊 Thanks for the tip with the ink too, definitely need to give it a good stir!

    Thank you for the video! :) I really enjoy watching what supplies people choose, particularly in realistic sized art hauls where people take the time to swatch out and get to know their supplies rather than having 100s of items to go through. I love your art, so am always interested to see what colours you are enjoying for each project, and would love to see a tour of all your pencil colours at some point. Speaking of which, if you love Luminance and Drawing pencils, you may also enjoy Derwent Lightfast. I find that they sharpen to and keep a nice point for detail, and I love using them very much, together with my Luminance. I would particularly recommend their ‘Foliage’ green (my favourite :) ) it’s a lovely natural green for landscapes.
    Looking forward to seeing what you create with your new supplies :)

      Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I'd love to do a video about my most used pencils/supplies at some point 😊 Oooh I've heard of these, thank you for the recommendation! They sound fantastic - that green sounds right up my street! 😍

    The pencil roll is so cute. I LOVE swatching videos ( for most artists I follow😉) and I also love the Royal Talens sketchbooks for my color pencils.

    Have to say I love the pencil wrap and very clever to have a diagonal pocket for short pencils. I was planning to make a simple one for storing brushes but now I want one like yours 😃 (not that I travel anywhere with my supplies 😂).

    the pencil roll you made is quite clever indeed! The stains on it are proof that it is being used and we all know that using experienced materials results in better outcomes. I have been sewing for over 60 years now and that zipper pocket you constructed shows exceptional skills. Thanks for posting your video. I am considering getting a smallish set of Neocolor 2 crayons but I also know that carrying them in a standard case would leave me digging around when I would rather be making art. Time for me to look at some videos on constructing pencils rolls so I too can make one unless of course you have time to post one? New subbie.

      Thank you so much for watching, commenting and subscribing! 💖 Thanks for your kind words about the pencil roll too! I'm not sure I could do a tutorial as it was quite an unplanned make - lots of trial and error and a bit of an untidy result 😅 I definitely recommend using a pencil roll though as like you say, especially for smaller crayons, they always end up at the bottom of a bag!

  • @debbievongrabler-crozier2646

    You will love that warm grey Ecoline - it is on the list of cannot possibly live without art things 😀🤍

    I want an art shop relatively local that stocks single neocolours and senellier pastels! It would be cool to choose the exact colours you want. I will definately check those stores out if I'm ever back in London 😊

    • @KatieMoody
      @KatieMoody  Рік тому +1

      Yesss it was so helpful - I find the colour pictures online can be so so different to how they look in real life!! The stores are a definite must if you're ever in London - though a bit of a hit on the bank balance because it's so hard to resist all the art supplies 😆

    The ink is very interesting and seems highly textured which can be great depending how you us it. Layered with the Neo Color II's and the colored pencils could be very nice.I enjoyed your haul and how you were specific and focused on what you purchased ... good job! Loved the video, thanks!

    Thank you for this video - it is refreshing to see someone doing a more realistic art haul and not pushing viewers to consume. I love the pencil roll you made! Maybe that’s the kind of thing I could find on Etsy? I’m not much of a sewer myself 😅 thank you Katie for this lovely moment spent with you!

    Such a nice video Katie. I get kind of sick of ppl that keep posting these massive hauls. I feel it makes ppl that can’t afford this stuff quite inadequate and also makes them think that they need every single supply when most of the time it’s just nice to work with and use what you have. Have a lovely week 😊

    • @KatieMoody
      @KatieMoody  Рік тому +3

      Aah thank you so much Hanna 💜 You've absolutely echoed my thoughts - I don't think I explained too well in my video but I really want to focus on the materials I have already without the need to just buy stuff constantly. I'm often influenced by art hauls and find that we start to believe we need a new supply to be as 'good' as other artists - which isn't true! I love the idea of using and exploring what we already have. Thanks again for watching and for your lovely comment!

    This was such a nice video. I’ve had sennelier oil pastels for years. They’ve definitely become too precious. I’ve let them be that way. Need to play with them more. Your video is inspiring me to go home and use them in my sketchbook

      Thank you so much Kimberly! It's so hard not to hoard or be precious with our supplies sometimes isn't it! I'm so glad this video inspired you to use them - that's what they are made for! I hope you enjoy experimenting 😊

      Thank you so much! I didn't make a pattern and totally winged it, but I recommend looking online at pencil case rolls and using those shapes as a reference! I'm happy to share measurements but I'm not sure I'd be much help with a tutorial 😄 thank you for watching!

    Making your own pencil roll is such a good idea! I struggle to find ready made ones that work for me so maybe I'll have to crack out the sewing machine 🤔😊 That green ink is beautiful 😍 I think the blue specks really add to the texture effects you'll be able to get with it. I love Graduate brushes and you will find the Pentel oil pastels very good considering their low price. I don't use them that often though because I'm sensitive to the smell of any oil based art products. I don't know if you've ever heard of Lyra Aquacolor crayons? I have a set and they are just like the Neocolor II, only more affordable (not sure about open stock though as I've not used mine up yet). Last of all, I love waterbased markers! I haven't used Ecoline but I do have the Karin brusmarkers and they are lush (but quite pricey, my lovely partner bought them as a birthday present). I've had them for a couple of years and the brush tips are still intact and the ink never seems to run out! So I guess you get what you pay for. Thanks for a great haul video, love comparing products and your more restrained approach to purchases is 👍❤

      Thank you Vicki! It's a great option to customise it for our own supplies 😊 The texture is definitely unique and I'm looking forward to using it for a lot of backgrounds! I really do want to use the oil pastels more, I must get them out on my art desk so I remember to use them! Ooh I haven't heard of Lyra Aquacolor crayons but they sound great, as do the Karin brushmarkers! So many options out there, it's really helpful to get personal recommendations for things! Thanks so much for watching and commenting too 🥰

      Yes it's sooo easy to get enabled and carried away watching hauls isn't it! I find the same but it feels good to be more mindful with it, and better knowing I'll actually use what I buy. Aah that is so exciting! Hope it all goes ok for you! 💜
