A magnificent prelude of full 2:35 minutes before Md. Rafi utters the first words. The songs actually begins at 3:24. The musical fountain of SJ was truly bottomless! The violins accompanying Md. Rafi in this song are simply heavenly! Perhaps a case study about using Violin in a composition! The counter melody is equally amazing! Finally the icing on the case is Lata's cameo towards the end of the song e.g. ~7:10! What's happening 8:00 onwards? Is it still part of the song? Or its a musical? Sangam is actually worth watching through ears e.g. close your eyes and just listen to background music and songs! Its a glass ceiling that upcoming generations will not be able to break! Well... 60 years have already passed by and nothing comes anywhere close to it! SJ were and continue to be the ultimate school of Hindi Film Music and beyond!
Sangam is a milestone album by any standards! I mean just pick any number and nothing else comes anywhere close to it:
