Thunderbird is spelled out in letters on the leading edge of the hood on the 1964 only. What a powerful badging and statement for one of the best ever!!
Hi Craig, Happy to read you "LOVE this car!!" :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing and I believe you're going to see many more cars on this Channel you'll enjoy. Hope you Subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this UA-cam Channel, Lou
I love the 60's T-Birds with the Roadster tonneau. They way that Ford styled this tonneau gives the car a windswept look, even when standing still. Absolutely beautiful card, though I do feel the continental kit detracts from the beautiful T-bird rear end of that year (just personal taste).
Glad to see you found one you like. There are a few more I've videoed, so if you type in "My Car Story With Lou T Bird" you should be able to see them. Lou
I'm the odd one among my friends who is car crazy. But if I think of some friends I'll definitely share the channel. My father was a car salesman all through my growing up years. We had new cars every year (demonstrators). There were a lot of T Birds. Thanks again.
What a gorgeous, gorgeous automobile. When I was a little kid, my mom's girlfriend had one like this - I don't recall now if it was a '64 or '65, but it was this style here. Hers was metallic blue. I don't know if that was factory, but it was a beautiful car and she was in love with it. I used to get to ride in it now and then. I'd love to have one of these now.

My folks actually had a 64 Thunderbird. They won it along with a lake cottage by competing in an essay contest, believe it or not. I remember going with my dad to pick it up from the dealer, and all the looks we would get driving in it. Unfortunately, my older brother took the car out ( about four years later) and totaled it. :( I got to learn how to drive in a beetle....
Beautiful specimen! I will say though that if the starter only engages with the transmission in neutral, something is malfunctioning with the neutral safety switch. It may just simply be out of adjustment. In any case, the starter should engage with the transmission in Park and the wheel to the right as well as in neutral with the wheel to the left. I have a ‘64 myself and after adjusting the safety switch, my car will start in Park and wheel to right.
Hi The Jack Stand Mechanic The Jack Stand Mechanic, Happy to read you have a cool 64 too :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Goldfinger, where's Felix Leiter and his tracking device? Odd Job will be driving the 64 Continental behind to the crusher. Check out that scene on UA-cam, the two parked here together reminded me of that.
The gentleman mentioned that the Tbird had not offered a power convertible top until 1964......which is not correct. The 1963 Tbirds offered a power convertible top.
Beautiful Thunderbird!!! Did the 64's have the rear sequential turn indicator lights? Thanks for sharing this beautiful car. Would also be great to see it with the top raised.
Hi Jill Calhoun, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car. Not sure on the tail lights, and top up is a good idea. Hopefully next time, and thanks for sharing a good idea, Lou
The sequential turn signals didn`t appear until the 1965 model year...Ford had intended for them to start with the `64 year, but the Federal government had not okayed their use in time...at least that`s what I have always read
Sexy, petty automobile. A bit too flashy for my taste. I think the car would look better without Contential assembly in the rear of the car. It hides the wonderful tail lights, I would also prefer no luggage rack. I think the trunk room would be more than necessary? Thank You! Peter Brooks. I would prefer this type of car than 2017 cars, except for narrow winding roads.
The top retracts into the trunk and takes up most of the room. There isn't much room for anything else..I have a 64 convertible. They aren't practical cars, but they are fun to drive. They like to wallow on curves, but ride like a pillow on the straightaway. They weigh almost 5000 ponds.
I built several different plastic models of the '64 T Bird as a kid imagining that I'd own one someday. Jeez, at the time the model kits cost a couple or maybe 3 bucks apiece. I'd turn in Coke bottles and money earned from carrying groceries for seniors in the neighborhood to make money to buy them. I wish I still had them......🤔
Why would someone spoil the looks of that car with that hokey Continental Kit and trunk rack? WHY.? Also, TBirds had power tops from 1958 on. Funny he didn’t mention the ultra rare factory cruise control!

Beautiful car but so much wrong with it, 1st & Foremost these cars NEVER had to be put in Neutral to start, That was only The “Babybirds” 55-57. 2nd Repop on the tonnuea cover, Not a original. There were no seams on the head rests of a original cover. Wire wheels are Repops, there not the 48 Spoke count Kelsey’s Hayes. Of course the CK in the back was not offered as a option, Dealership add on maybe but not done at the Wixom Ford plant when they were built. Luggage rack was definitely a dealer option which was actually a Mustang Luggage rack part number wise. Again Beautiful car but I have owned/Restored Numerous Thunderbird’s over the years and when things are said/Done wrong it’s not fair to the ppl who don’t know or the car itself.

How about opening a new UA-cam page and listening to "Girl Talk" by Neal Hefty. That's the right melody for that classy car. Imagine yourself driving it with some gorgeous girl next to you.

Factory sequential tail lights weren't available until 1965.You can buy kits though to convert a 64.

Love that Bird; they failed to notice the hand crank windows. An odd feature on a car that was targeting luxury buyers.
Hi Jim, Thank you for sharing what you notice, Lou

My dream car
Hi blackpool321
, Happy to read this one is a dream car for you :-) Cool! Lou
Nice. Those rear turn signals are suppose to be sequential though. Needs a little fixing'. But what a car!
Hi Peter L, Glad you think this one is "nice" :-) Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the sequential tail lights. Lou
Sequential tail lights weren't offered until the next year in '65.
@@dj33036 I had a '64 model year, with mechanical sequencers.
@@Emberxxx2002If you did it didn't come that way from the factory. It was an easy conversion.
No sequential turn signals until 1965.
The gentleman mentioned that the Tbird had not offered a power convertible top until 1964......which is not correct. The 1963 Tbirds offered a power convertible top.
Hi bill norris, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
T birds had power tops from 1958 on up
Powered convertible tops on the T-birds were standard from 1958!!! I wish these people would get their facts right?🤔🤨🧐🙄
These are much prettier with no cont kit and no luggage rack
Thank you for viewing and sharing your preference.
Thank you! I totally agree!
Did they even mention its a sport Roadster model with real spoked wheels!, no hub caps? Or duall spotlights?
Beautiful Thunderbird!!! Did the 64's have the rear sequential turn indicator lights? Thanks for sharing this beautiful car. Would also be great to see it with the top raised.
