the claw is a right of passage but I don't miss it lol I use a modified claw when playing Souls games so I can run and move the camera but its not some contorted bullshit
Not to mention you can still play online on PC. Even Tri has servers running with a good amount of people online. I’ve been playing P3rd online recently and it’s been great
@BWX4 well 3U technically has an HD doesn't it? From the Wii U. Honestly I think they look fine to this day. They just need to be more accessible (I say while having Wii U/3dS versions of 3U and having 4U which I got after I played Iceborne/Rise)
@@dilophoraptordouble well, I think a lot of people would go bananas for old gen monster hunter with new gen monster hunter QoL changes. 3U was my entry into the franchise and while I only played for 400 hours and did relatively little post dire miralis grinding (rath mantle farm made me drop the game and well I had BotW to play), I think I played enough to say that I was fully okay with the old gen quirks. My parents weren't going to buy me a switch to play 4U or GU so I never got to play this even though I wanted to. All these years later and I do have a switch (got it for rise) but after World, I refuse to go back and play without all the QoL changes. I don't even mind the controls (and they have implications for difficulty so aren't just QoL) but things like zone transitions, the radial menu, etc, I have no interest in playing without. Hell, I still have my WiiU so I could've gone back to play to unlock abyssal lagi which I never did because I was a noob that gave up too quickly. I think it's less an HD remaster people are looking for and more a modern remake. Relatively few new gen hunters play old gen games and from the way a lot of them want to fight monsters that have yet to debut in new gen, I know they do want to play those games. And well they clearly want another monster hunter game.
Honestly I really wish I could, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of World and I’m really not the biggest fan of Rise. I enjoyed my time with them, but they just don’t hit the same way the old world titles do for me. I wish they did, but I can’t help how I feel.
@@CaptainEffortTbh, lots of the issues in Rise basically started from Generations, so it's not like the issues from Old or New gens are mutually exclusive to eachother, at the end of the day i think it's just growing pains. I for one love World way more than Rise and Freedom Unite, yet Sunbreak's endgame was easily 10x better than World's and the super older games didn't really have an endgame. Hopefully Wilds gets everything right
@@ryudhal True, but a lot of people also had issues with Generations. The justification at the time was that it was an anniversary title and wasn’t indicative of where the series was heading, but little did we know. I’d still say fifth gen massively changed the series, but you’re right that Generations perhaps put us on this path.
@@CaptainEffort Oh but for the record i loved Generations. I hated Rise but love Sunbreak, but my favourites will always be Freedom Unite and Iceborne (base World was just good for me, but big parts of what i love and ironically what i dislike in World is in Iceborne). Though I'm finally playing through MH4U and it might top Unite for me. So my tastes are kinda all over the place
4 Ultimate is still the peak IMHO. It had everything I want. New (at the time) weapons to learn. A real emphasis on a variety of monsters from giant bugs to mountain sized serpents. AN ACTUL STORY WITH CHARACTERS THAT AREN'T ANNOYING WET CARDBOARD!
I am part of that niche select few that started with Rise, went back to play GU, then went even further back to play Portable 3rd and Second G. And they’re so damn fun despite their age, they’ve aged like wine I’d wager. So I implore anyone curious at all to know more about the history of this fantastic series to give it a try, even if only for a little bit. They have their growing pains, but I am so in love with old Monster Hunter thanks to having given them a try, especially if you can find people to play with. Honestly I’m just happy people are still playing Monster Hunter no matter the game.
@@cr-volcanic I play on my Vita with freedom unite, and it’s like being twelve years old again weirdly enough, I didn’t even play it back then, but it still feels ultra nostalgic and charming. Though I understand some people just can’t handle the lack of quality of life we’re used to now.
I started with Rise/Sunbreak, went back to GU, loved it a lot more than I did Rise/Sunbreak, and then went to Frontier and some of the other older ones
@@VashimuXIV I have the potato of all potatos: a garbage 2012 mac laptop that barely functions. I had to stop playing Terraria and Garfield Kart because they were too laggy. Frontier runs just fine (after disabling high-grade mode)
If this happens I'm hoping for 3U. As long as the re-release includes fully functional camera controls and an upgrade to 60fps it doesn't really matter what they pick.
100% exactly where my brain has been at since Jan of last year. Honestly thought we might’ve seen a collection announcement at TGA with Wilds dropped in March but it honestly makes sense to flip them in hindsight and as soon as we didn’t seen Wilds in Sept I had a feeling this was the plan in place
@@cr-volcanic the one nice thing about remasters is that the OG titles are always there as long as you’ve got the hardware - I’ve been playing 3U/4U on and off between grinding my last few crowns for the Iceborne platinum on PSN and it’s been a blast. Would be awesome to play on a controller legally though
It would make a lot of sense if they did this throw in that is smart. I have yet to play any of the older Generations and I would be down to play them if they got rereleased.
A nice way to arrange a collection would be to have two collections. One for the Numbered Series and one for the Portable Series. All with their expansion title included. Numbered Series collection: Monster Hunter G Monster Hunter 2 Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Portable Series collection: Monster Hunter Freedom Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Monster Hunter Freedom 3 (yes, that's the localized title for Portable 3rd) Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate
I think one of the best games for a rerelease (at least for 1st gen) would be the japan exclusive Wii version of monster hunter G which had all the content from the 1st gen games plus some QoL features from 2nd gen and widescreen.
Since I started with 4U, I like the idea of having the games before it being available since I haven't experienced them and it would be good to advertise some of their game mechanics if they bring them back in Wilds. You gave me a scary thought where Bluepoint does a remake of one of the games in a few years.
I’ve been kinda craving a Tri/3U playthrough as that was where my hunting career started and haven’t played them since. Can’t go wrong with Freedom Unite or 4U either. The point is that we need more Monster Hunter whether new or old.
I'm a World baby, but have religiously devoured World/Iceborne and Rise/Sunbreak, as well as looking into the lore and features of the past games, with plenty of great content found on this channel here. From what I've heard about it, I would LOVE a remastered MH4U on modern hardware, because I'm stuck on console and will not buy a 3DS just to play that specifically.
Would recommend 4U. But if you prefer Rise and Sunbreak over World i HIGHLY recommend Generations Ultimate. Lots of same issues as Rise but lots of the same pros as well. In fact, I'd say that Rise is basically a toned down version of Generations in a lot of ways.
@@ryudhal It's just hard to pick up the older titles without a PC. I've been hoping for a while that they'd give GU the Rise treatment and bring it to consoles as well
I would definitely say just pure ports of 1G, Freedom Unite, 3U, and 4U would be a fairly logical choice. They're the capstone games of each respective generation and cover a massive amount of ground content wise, and they still hold up for the most part. I think they may decide just to leave behind 2 and P3rd due to them having content that mostly gets covered by the aforementioned games.
I only just started the series with Rise, but I agree with you, I've been having a ton of fun playing Freedom Unite on my phone when I can't be on PC and would love something that doesn't affect the core gameplay loop and preparation, but just small things like a "Send All" to item box option after missions, or being able to access the Hunter's Notes via the UI in the village rather than going to a specific spot of the house, though I wouldn't want it in the open field because I feel like that's part of the prep aspect.
I miss old Monster Hunter so much... It was my fave franchise until world came out. I bought world and rise but i just can't get into them like i did the older ones :(
Man I would KILL for a 4u rerelease. It was my first game, and because of it I’ve been obsessed with this series for literally half of my life. Even if it’s just a verbatim port with 0 graphical upgrades I’d still be happy, I love that game to death and I hate to see it go
I started the series last year and have been devouring almost every game I can get my hands on. As a classic game collector, I love that these games are still cheap. That said though, I would love to see official re-releases to keep online play for them painless and easy. Fans are keeping old games online with fan servers which is awesome, but more stable officially run online play would be ideal. I put in 300 hours on 4 Ultimate since I started last year, and I would absolutely do it all over again. I honestly wouldn't change much either. Rez up the textures, unlock the frame rates, have item sets and equipment sets in every game, speed up some menu animations, and *that's it*.
Porting 3U & 4U would be great. Would buy it in a heartbeat. The only things i'd want them to change is; clean up the worst of the hitboxes, make the controls feel more like the modern gens now that it isn't on a handheld and add layered armours. That kinda stuff they do in patches so it shouldn't be a huge deal and the rest doesn't bother me.
My partner and I were new to MH with World (during the whole return to world hype) and still haven't dug into Rise yet, since World has given us a lot to do, but I have picked up GenU for the switch to play while traveling and found it very fun and cozy. I'd be really happy to get any of the games you suggested (FU, 3U, 4U) as soft remakes or remasters. I know its probably not likely, but I'd really like personally for Frontier or MH Online to become available again. Probably not in the cards but they seem like fun games I'd like to try someday. 😊
As someone who started with Rise and has since put almost 200 hours into 3U… I would *love* to play that game on my switch with online support. And I have yet to even touch any first or second generation games, even though I’d love to
4:52 technically hazard amatsu was the final update. but semantics ya know Also technically 4u's event exclusive monsters cough white fatalis cough was also released as an event quest so same way kinda idk where event quests'd stand even in this whole update thing.
A ground up full remake of the first game would be so sick, I would want it to be made with as much creative freedom as possible. I imagine gameplay like you're in the in game trailers. Bombs being moved manually (add an armor skill to do 2 at once like bald guy in 4 opening), preparing a hunting spot, a more smart use of tracks and binoculars, npc hunting for quests like liver of legend that spills out lore about this universe. I think a ff7 level of remake is justified for a game like MH1.
Go back and play tri, or tri ultimate, then play world. World of difference. There's a feel brought up with the older titles, i don't know what it is about it, but there's a charm there that is absent from world.
Its the gameplay, simple as that. And no, its not the slow gathering or "muh clunky controls" that World people keep ranting about. Its legit the gameplay. Something as simple as Monsters being more aggressive and Hunters not being able to heal and outrun Monsters, or INSTANT flashbangs/traps, crutch claw, and lower stun values that enable World Monsters to be CC-d to oblivion, etc.
Started my journey with MH4U after seeing a video about how you properly play a Monster Hunter game. As my first game their were some fights that live rent free in my mind because of how close the battle it was. If there a game I want remastered it would be the one with the Plesioth and it's janky hitbox. Some newer players, me include, need to understand why in Stories one of Plesioth attack is called "Hyperspace Tackle"
Definitely agree with this vid! We need the older titles on the market. I started with world and loved every second. Then when rise came out I got a switch with rise and GU and loved them. After playing GU last I actually like that old format a lot. It was tough to get used to but it clicks. I very much want to play the older ones but haven't been able to. I've seen all the monsters and alot of gameplay and it just deserves to be experienced by everyone. Capcom should take this opportunity to really go ham and show their old games love. I feel like the old fans haven't been getting the attention all the new fans have. We should live in a world where the old games and new games can all be played on the same systems easily.
I’d personally prefer soft remasters, with *maybe* some small changes. Like, if they incorporated GU’s “hold to gather” mechanic I wouldn’t complain. Obviously they’d have to update the UI, as it was made for handhelds and the map covers a fourth of the screen, so scaling that down and just making it look higher res would be great. For FU in particular I’d just say to speed up UI animations, like you showed with the item box, include item icons in the UI (like in your inventory), and include prompts when near gathering spots. Hell, even the IOS port of FU included that last one. I’d love a collection to release, but if I had to choose one I’d say either FU or P3rd. 4U is my favorite but it’s still relatively new compared to the others, and while I love 3U idk if they’d bring it back without tweaking underwater combat, and idk if that’s within the scope of a “soft remaster”. FU on the other hand is a lot older, and has an obscene amount of content and monsters that still haven’t seen the light of day since. P3rd on the other hand literally never released here at all, and while I’ve played it and love it thanks to fan translations, I’d love for it to actually release and be officially playable.
i think the only real change i'd want is for them to make is add the radial menu for item selection. other than that, basic ports or remasters without changes would make me very happy :)
Being a veteran of the series, the series has improved so much. I remember when Generations came out i was like theres no way they top this. Then world came out. I was so hyped! And honestly i was disappointed, Iceborne luckily fixed a lot of issues but G Rank not being there in the beginning was a bummer.
Being that I already have almost all MH games available to me physically, i think I would actually cry if they announced they were porting Frontier on the switch.
Personally a port of tri and 4u would be enough for me, I think they look visually good enough that they would look good on a PC without a remaster. What I would like to see is new games made with segmented hunting grounds released. This is as they should be faster to make then the games with the modern hunting grounds and if they become popular could be released between the console and portable games. This seems like it would be good as monster hunter games are getting bigger and thus longer to make. It would also be a nice chance to mix the older mechanics with the new ones in interesting ways. These could serve as a testing bed for more monsters as lots of animations that are needed as a result of unsegmented hunting grounds would not need to be made, and as such more experimental monsters could be made at a lower cost and in a shorter time frame and if they are liked could be brought into the games without segmented hunting grounds. It would also be useful for testing other mechanics like a new skill system that doesn't get as bloated as the present one but isn't as complex as the old one.
As someone who played 4U as my first mh game I would love a port of any old gen mh title cuz I have a huge nostalgia for them. Honestly I think porting an old title could help newer fans see the roots of the games they love. Kind of like how many people played GU during the pause in between world and Iceborne. In an optimal world they would do some kind of bundle but I just wanna play some Monster Hunter
If they released a compilation of the older games, or even just GU for PC, I'd be a happy man. I like World and Rise, but the older games were so much better
Started with Tri and I absolutely miss Lagiacrus and the underwater hunts so badly. Seriously if Capcom made a Monster Hunter game that combined all of that together in one massive package I'd buy it in a heartbeat! I'm not holding my breath though.
My only worry with releasing them as a collection is how much online multiplayer will get split between all of those. ESPECIALLY if they decide to fumble crossplay again.
I would love to have some of the older games, even if they're only on the switch. I tried to boot up 3U on my DS, but the screen is way too cramped for me to play now :(
That's what I've been saying too. As a newbie hunter myself it kinda frustrates me seeing other newbies completely write off the old games. Same with vets writing off the new games. I don't think there's been a bad game in the series yet.
13:30 I didn't mention this in my original comment the first time I watched this video, but I actually think there are legal reasons holding these games back from being re-released, and that is the collaboration event quests. It's not worth it for Capcom to re-up their deals with other companies for these collabs (and any Nintendo collabs would be a complete no-go on other platforms), but at the same time you can't just remove a lot of those event quests because they have armor and weapons that would make a lot of people upset if they were removed (like the Star Knight armor in 4 Ultimate), and it's not like they're gonna make new assets to layer over that old collab gear either. It's certainly a dilemma.
Wild card here but maybe a revision of MH Frontier? Maybe not the MMO elements but at least a good chunk of the original base monsters and setting could be reworked into maybe a MHGU engine or similar to bring up the graphics a bit more. Idk.
@@cr-volcanic yeah probably. Or hopefully at least. There are just too many good designs in that game for them to just throw away all that design time and effort.
adding in the event quests and updating freedom and freedom unite to work with the right stick would be hugeeee. also 3U and 4U with right stick instead of the 3DS c stick would be great
I’m in a similar spot. I started in 4U but didn’t get to g-rank or finish the high rank story because I was a preteen that didn’t fully understand the game. Bring able to see how the older games played would be an amazing experience, especially since each game is fairly unique.
I would so love to see the older games available again. If I had to only pick one, it might be Portable 3rd. There was never an English release and it's just so pretty. Shame more people couldn't enjoy the debut of Jinouga (Zinogre) and the Misty Peaks. But if I could totally have it all, give me remasters of MHFU, P3rd, Tri, MH3u, and MH4u. Remasters would be way better than a remake. But just so people here know, ad hoc (local) multiplayer still works for the old portable games on PSP and 3ds. Kinda wonder if the same would be true for 5th gen games.
honestly i’d love to play all of the olds games the only tweaks i’d like to see is just making so carving and gathering just requires holding down the button, i don’t even care if the animation still has to wait for your character to stand back up i just wanna hold the button please😅
I hear a lot of people talk about 4U being the premiere choice if your only going to bring a single game forward, but I’d be curious to see what bringing a game like Portable 3rd could do since the west never got it. We saw the reaction to GU after we didn’t see XX for so long. Just a thought
p3rd is too much like rise tho, since it was the direct inspiration to it. the only different thing would be a farm, zinogre story, better looking maps and no rise monsters.
It doesn't just bug me that people turn their nose up at old MonHun, I wish people wouldn't turn their nose up at old games in general. It's especially annoying when people complain about new games being bad (a claim I think is a tad overexaggerated to be fair), but then they act completely disinterested in older games.
I never got to play anything before world other then once on a psp when i was a kid that i never saw again. I’ve always wanted to go through these games and see what i missed out on
Been playing through World along with my newbie friend and my god I would kill for a 4U rerelease just so I can laugh as he gets incinerated by Dalamadur's Kamehameha.
I'm playing MHFU after like 10 years since the last time I played it. While it's way hard to control than modern MH I really love it. That nostalgic feeling... I wish I could play 3u and 4u again
I liked this video, then unliked it just so i could like it again. My friends an i have been talking about this very thing since the 3DS stuff is pretty much shut down. Its a damn shame a lot of the portable only titles are handcuffed to hardware that is mostly not accessible anymore, (at least not in a new state). And so many event quests and missions can no longer be downloaded. I really, really hope they port some of these. It would be the easiest purchase i would ever make. Fantastic video!
It might not happen but here's some thoughts for a possible collection. First collection is G, Freedom Unite and maybe finally localize Portable 3rd. Second is 3 Ultimate and 4 Ultimate with a possible third game or maybe just these two. How about the first Monster Hunter Stories?
I think we definitely need to realize the distinction between 3 and 3U. They feel almost like totally different games and a bridge between old world and the more flashy/user friendly new world games.
Would love to get a retro port pack for old monhun games. The current unofficial way of multiplayer with emulators is a lot of work and it's hard to convince my friends for that. Playing the janky freedom unite with friends today or even potentially online lobbies with randoms sounds crazy cool. These old game's hub quests are an absolute marathon solo as well so it would be fun to see how they work in multi. Maybe FU doesnt stand for "Fuck You" after all xd... then again those small monsters...
Replaying Freedom Unite right now actually, there's so many memories and challenges that perplexed my youger self, now I'm just coasting through. Would definitely recommend playing the older titles if you like the new ones. Please start with mh4u, you'll find the adjustment and the monster pool more accommodating (we do have one shot monsters in end g rank though). I would then recommend mh3u, then mhfu! 3u had a really unique swimming mechanic that really added to certain fights, and feels waaaay better on a controller. That said still not a perfect idea, they didnt put swimming back in after. The game itself is fantastic. Freedom Unite is amongst the hardest monster hunter games Ive played, but the title is incredibly enjoyable despite that! The movesets are incredibly simple, and hitboxes linger. But dont let that deter you!!
12:10 This is the ticket. If they do a Triple Threat Bundle of Unite, 3U and 4U I think they're golden. Especially if they can get it out on as many consoles as possible. Cross-Play would be phenoooomenal. Genuinely mind blowing and I would GLADLY buy something like that. Even if it wasn't able to get Cross-Play in, I Might even be crazy enough to buy it on both Switch and PS5 so that I'm not limited on who I can play with.
As I write this, I'm currently in my first playthrough of MH3U, playing on Wii U, maining Hammer and up against that annoying bastard Uragan. I started with the original MH1 back in the day, played the PSP games and didn't play the series again until World due to not having the right consoles at the time. Platinumed World, beat Fatalis and got my girlfriend into the series, very successful. Played the hell outta MHGU and then continued into Rise, and then bought it again on PS5 cause my friends and I all want that higher frame rate haha. Last year and this year I've been going back through the series from the original all the way to MH4U, I even bought a 3DS and Wii U, I also bought physical copies of every game, even Japanese exclusives, and played some through less legitimate ways via Steam Deck (MHP3rd is AMAZING), doing this has taught me just how fantastic the old games are and why we need a modern port of them. I'd say do a remaster of MHFU, MH3U and MH4U, slap em on every current system so everyone can play them, wham bam everyone happy and Capcom makes a craptonne of money, though thats probably wishful thinking.
Started with Rise and made my way backwards. Played GU then got a New 3DS for 3/4U. Planning on playing Tri, have FU on Vita and I'm gonna play World with my friend and girlfriend. Remastering 4U would be perfect seeing how GU on Switch shows how great a 3DS game can look while 3U they'll probably port the Wii U version. It would also be great if you could transfer content from your 3DS/Wii U to the current consoles but I have no idea how that would work It would also be nice to add some improvements like how GU let's you hold down the gather/carve button compared to previous games where you had to mash the button to continue or they could possibly add layered gear into the older games but again, I'm not sure if that's even possible
I want 3U and 4U for PC, honestly. I played 4U on 3ds but I cant do everything alone in this game. As for 3U, I havent tried the game yet and I wanna experience the unique things about the game such as, underwater fight, Giginox, Qurapeco and Kelbi Stingshot(slime go brrrrr).
I've been saying this since World came out!!!! Where's the HD collection Capcom?? Like, I still got a lot of these games on original hardware and playing solo is fine and all, but the Wii U and 3DS servers are going down later this year and without online multiplayer the experience just isn't the same.
I would love to see the older gen games on pc, but lets be honest there is a small chance of that actually happening. Maybe generations Ultimate can go to PC tho. They alreay did in on switch so they have at least proven willing to port that.
rise feeling like a sequel to MHGU makes this idea seem more legit. give the maps from the older games maps in the style of rise but adjusted for a lack of wire bugs. mhfu is a magnificent game that should receive an update and we could also see the return of underwater combat. soft remake should be the way to go
Freedom Unite remaster: My favorite Monster Hunter. My friends and I all clocked in over 1000 hours in it. Its more deliberate pace could be a bit jarring for the newer audience. 3 Ultimate remaster: I'm currently replaying 3U on the side. Underwater combat would benefit greatly from modern control schemes. 4 Ultimate remaster: Safest choice. It's the Monster Hunter game that I remember the least about, so I'd definitely be down for a full replay of it on modern hardware. New content for World or Rise: With so many people returning to these games, they could drop some new monsters into them. Like a teaser to set up some Wilds reveal.
I would cry if they re-released any of the older titles. Crossplay or no, just being able to play FU/3U/4U on a modern console with a controller would make me elated beyond words.
I just bought a psp and mhfu so while I would LOVE older games getting ported to new consoles- I would be kinda pissed if it’s freedom unite. That being said… portable third would be awesome
started with world, then rise, went back and tried GU. Generations ultimate was by far my favorite by a landslide. hunter styles and hunter arts are amazing. I also 100% agree regarding being able to restock mid hunt on items, i think its broken and it kind of ruins the game for me. In old MH you can only make so many mistakes before you run out of resources. You can get more pots if you bring the ingredients to craft more mid mission, but at the end of the day its up to you to play aggressive enough to do enough damage while minimizing getting hit. In new MH as long as the monster doesnt 1 shot you, you can basically get hit as many times as you want. just insta teleport back to camp and full restock. Ive found playing the newer monster hunter games i just turn my brain off honestly, like who cares if i get hit, there is barely any punishment behind it. specially in rise lmao just wirebug away and use one of your infinite pots, just kind of boring honestly. Just started playing frontier and even though its insanely hard, i already like it more than world and rise. Im sure wilds will continue the trend of allowing full restocks mid hunt. Personally i think its a terrible design choice.
I’d like to see a collection with: Monster Hunter G Monster Hunter Dos* Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Monster Hunter Tri** Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate*** * I’d like to see MH Dos since we never got it in the West, and while FU is the complete version of Gen 2, I think getting to partake in town invasion Yamatsukami, as well as the mechanics in the offline mode of Dos would be a very unique experience. ** I’d like to see Tri included simply because of Loc Lac City. If Capcom decided to just do 3 Ultimate, I think they should add in Loc Lac city as a hub option. Alternatively, split LR/HR and put those in Loc Lac. When you unlock G-Rank you gain access to Port Tanzia, and upon completing your final Urgent, you unlock the ability to accept G-Rank quests in Loc Lac as well, so at that point, you’re free to choose your preferred venue. *** Generations Ultimate should be brought to all platforms, I feel.
Ever since the announcement of the 3DS and WiiU servers shutting down, I've been playing through 3U and 4U. My goal is to fight every monster and subspecies exclusive to those games. Though for 3U I added experiencing every underwater monster. The only other "Old World" Monster Hunter I've played was GU. These games, and the monsters exclusive to them, deserve to be more accessible to "New World hunters." I'd prefer a slight remake, where the only change is the World/Rise dynamic monster health. That would make it so the games aren't insane to solo if you want to experience everything. In my playthroughs, I've even used different weapons than my GU main. Switch Axe for 3U and Insect Glaive for 4U. 3U's goal has been done for months, loved all of the new monsters and am pro-underwater combat. With 4U, I have White Fatalis left. While he isn't exclusive, I heard his GU fight is so much worse.
I would love to revisit generations just because gammoth is the only one of the 4 flagships to not reappear since. Also love great maccao, malfestio and the moofas lol
I really believe Capcom will release some kind of "serious" (not MHNow) Monster Hunter title to commemorate the 20th Anniversary. They've made a lot of smart choices when it comes to how they release MH games and have shown, especially recently that they listen to the community. There is demand for the old style of MH, or MH in general and Capcom knows it. They will release something. I'd place my money on multiple old games getting ported to all plattforms, but i could also imagine them doing one seriously touched up remaster, possibly for MHP3RD. Or maybe even both. I would be happy with anything classic style MH. And lastly, news on the Timi game would be nice. Seems like nobody's even thinking about that anymore
I've played MH stories as my first game but like I beat that no problem but I have been playing monster hunter Rise/sunbreak soloing every monster no problem first trying them an haven't lose a quest yet the only problem I had was understanding the controls but sitting in the training ground for about an hour...... Figuring out witch weapon I wanna use first was fun (Look I'm use to holding r to run an A an b being guard an attacking ok but that beside the point) the point is I have been also playing MH generation ultimate an i still haven't lose a quest an I tbh want the older games to come back for the anniversary Also bring back Hunter art pls capcom
Also if anyone wondering what Rank I am in MH sunbreak it HR 204 an MR 20 an just first try flaming espinas with switch axe an using a full set of archdemon armor :v
As someone who started with Rise but has played into G-Rank in GU (I just made the mistake of playing with a friend and now it's impossible to go back in that game for me however much I love it), played through the main story of 4U, and has dived a tiny bit into 3U, I truly think accessibility is the biggest hurdle for these games. While I'm not too fussed about Gen 1 and Gen 2 games being left behind since there's very little content unique to them, 3U just needs better controls on the Switch and it'd be a fantastic game, and 4U already is a fantastic game I just don't play my 3DS enough anymore. If they announced Remasters of just htese two games, I'd be incredibly happy, and if they release a remastered version of Freedom Unite and G as well, that would be super cool.
I kinda want the old way to gather.. I came from MH (PS2) 2005, was 8 years old back then, had to follow a Mosswine to find a mushroom gathering spot, had to manually find herb to gather, just the knowledge alone, made me feel the same as slaying my first Yian Kut Ku to break out from being a Greenie Hunter, but keep the pickaxe, I hate bringing a few pickaxe and breaking after 2-4 picks. Hate em'. Oh and I played Tri, I love the idea of "Build your own Bowgun." Please let it return, I love my HBGs and I hope Gunner Style Armor comes back, just make it when I equip it with a range weapon it has a different look, like the old ones where 1 side is well protected while the other is more exposed, just change it back to visually, fashion has become kinda boring when everyone practically look the same, and like it or hate it, I like needing entry fees for a quest, I like prepping for a hunt, and maybe MH TRI REMASTERED TO STEAM THIS YEAR !? Come on, its AN ANNIVERSARY !
So here's my thoughts on this topic Fiest off what games, obviously the big most important ones are freedom unite, 3U and 4U and if any will get ports it will be them, I would however love a port of tri and the first 1 aswell as finally having dos and portible 3rd translated, but the ultimate games are the way to go Secondly what form, i don't want them remade from the ground up, all I want is a port with some slighty touched up graphics and functional Mutiplayer and controller options so they are playable in the ways people are familiar with but nothing else changed, Finaly my big point, we should be playing the long game so we should pick one, everything pre world could be used to Bridge the gaps between games for many years to come if we stretch things out, so if we only get one it's between FU/3U/4U and personally my vote goes to freedom unite as its the oldest as such is in the most need to new exposure, however the first game would be perfect as the 20th anniversary title
I don't think it's gonna happen because I don't think Capcom wants to take the risk to confuse people about what monster hunter is. They're even doing a return to world thing to prepare people for wilds, why would they take 180turn and introduce people to old MH ? it's a risky move to do that, even if they communicate about it a lot of people don't follow gaming news. Or maybe they would do that without too much advertisement like a shadow as to not mess with the image of new MH too much
And even if they never come back, they're pretty easy to get on your PC. Plus havin an actual controller doesn't give ya carpal tunnel!
the claw is a right of passage but I don't miss it lol
I use a modified claw when playing Souls games so I can run and move the camera but its not some contorted bullshit
Not to mention you can still play online on PC. Even Tri has servers running with a good amount of people online.
I’ve been playing P3rd online recently and it’s been great
Brother they're already easy to get on your PC
can any of you guys tell me how to get on PC? I am very new to PC and don't know what emulators or what I'd need to get em.
@@superwolfie4061 Which MH games are you trying to play?
Perfect time to release this too with the fact Nintnedo announced the end date of 3ds/Wii U online (april 8th btw)
Indeed. 3U and 4U getting HD remaster announcements would be a very timely thing!
It's cool that you love both the old gen and new gen games. I think more mh fans need to learn how to like more than one thing like you do!
Yeah, I think they both have their own strengths and issues so I really don't have too much preference
I'm kinda impressed with how well they've aged honestly, playin Freedom Unite again on an emulator, it handles pretty fuckin well
@@cr-volcanic I play on my Vita with freedom unite, and it’s like being twelve years old again weirdly enough, I didn’t even play it back then, but it still feels ultra nostalgic and charming. Though I understand some people just can’t handle the lack of quality of life we’re used to now.
I started with Rise/Sunbreak, went back to GU, loved it a lot more than I did Rise/Sunbreak, and then went to Frontier and some of the other older ones
@@incandescence5547 I still need to play Frontier, alas I posses quite the potato. Perhaps one day at least.
Thanks!
Appreciate this a ton. Thanks bud
I think it absolutely makes sense, I just don't wanna promise myself anything lmao
Numbered Series collection:
Monster Hunter G
Monster Hunter 2
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Portable Series collection:
Monster Hunter Freedom
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
Monster Hunter Freedom 3 (yes, that's the localized title for Portable 3rd)
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate
For sure, that could also be a cool way to do it.
Emulate it if you can, it’s worth it.
I've been hoping for a while that they'd give GU the Rise treatment and bring it to consoles as well
@@Siege_Panda Yeah hopefully one day they'll do some kind of collection port or something of the 3DS games.
For sure, there's somethings in those older titles that definitely should be streamlined down, just not all of it.
4u was my very first MH game, and is my absolute favorite of all time, I so wish I could play it again so much! Maybe one day.
I miss old Monster Hunter so much...
It was my fave franchise until world came out.
I bought world and rise but i just can't get into them like i did the older ones :(
Love how your thumbnail games are the exact 3 that I have been saying for years should come back, FU, 3U, and 4U
Those are the easy picks for sure.
Man I would KILL for a 4u rerelease. It was my first game, and because of it I’ve been obsessed with this series for literally half of my life. Even if it’s just a verbatim port with 0 graphical upgrades I’d still be happy, I love that game to death and I hate to see it go
Yeah that's what I'm saying, these games honestly still hold up just fine, a port is all they really NEED but more would be appreciated
And I have yet to even touch any first or second generation games, even though I’d love to
I do really hope they make HD remakes of the earlier games
I'm still holding out for a port collection coming at the end of the March anniversary countdown!
4:52 technically hazard amatsu was the final update. but semantics ya know
Also technically 4u's event exclusive monsters cough white fatalis cough was also released as an event quest so same way kinda idk where event quests'd stand even in this whole update thing.
Got into the series with 4u with some friends in college, great times just chilling and hunting, loved the series since.
Being a veteran of the series, the series has improved so much. I remember when Generations came out i was like theres no way they top this. Then world came out. I was so hyped! And honestly i was disappointed, Iceborne luckily fixed a lot of issues but G Rank not being there in the beginning was a bummer.
Even though they are still going to be avilable id like for them to come back. It would be really cool if more people got to play the games.
3U wii u servers and 4u 3ds servers will be shutting down soon too. I would love Dos to come west so bad
Started with Tri and I absolutely miss Lagiacrus and the underwater hunts so badly. Seriously if Capcom made a Monster Hunter game that combined all of that together in one massive package I'd buy it in a heartbeat! I'm not holding my breath though.
I’d pay really good money for a collection. I feel like they will do something this year to tide us over. It is the 20th anniversary too
My only worry with releasing them as a collection is how much online multiplayer will get split between all of those. ESPECIALLY if they decide to fumble crossplay again.
i love you. when obscure explore monsters vid. i love you
I would love to have some of the older games, even if they're only on the switch. I tried to boot up 3U on my DS, but the screen is way too cramped for me to play now :(
Its crazy how each gen is still worth coming back to and experiencing, despite being very similar they've all got something unique about them
That's what I've been saying too.
Idk.
Frontier may be a bit too big. I think most likely we'll get it brought back piece by piece in newer games
@@cr-volcanic yeah probably. Or hopefully at least. There are just too many good designs in that game for them to just throw away all that design time and effort.
adding in the event quests and updating freedom and freedom unite to work with the right stick would be hugeeee. also 3U and 4U with right stick instead of the 3DS c stick would be great
I still play the PSP games almost daily and if we had the same amount of crowd of those games it would be really awesome
I actually just ordered the original. Looking forward to giving the OG a try, even though I know it's gonna kick my ass. I'm still there for it
Yes it does!!
I played MHGU first, but truly started in World and I would love to be able to play th older titles
I’m in a similar spot. I started in 4U but didn’t get to g-rank or finish the high rank story because I was a preteen that didn’t fully understand the game. Bring able to see how the older games played would be an amazing experience, especially since each game is fairly unique.
Surprised the idea of a remaster isn’t being thrown around.
The little rant at the beginning made me think of mint and chocolate chip...
We need an anniversary collection for pc, Xbox and ps5
I hear a lot of people talk about 4U being the premiere choice if your only going to bring a single game forward, but I’d be curious to see what bringing a game like Portable 3rd could do since the west never got it. We saw the reaction to GU after we didn’t see XX for so long. Just a thought
p3rd is too much like rise tho, since it was the direct inspiration to it.
the only different thing would be a farm, zinogre story, better looking maps and no rise monsters.
All those newbies coming into the series with World and not playing the old masterpieces really bugs me
It doesn't just bug me that people turn their nose up at old MonHun, I wish people wouldn't turn their nose up at old games in general.
As a man a solid year into a constant 4U addiction, I can agree a re-release of old gens would go hard
9:16 if twitter gets really mad about something it makes me wanna check it out
It might not happen but here's some thoughts for a possible collection.
They feel almost like totally different games and a bridge between old world and the more flashy/user friendly new world games.
as much as I love and want it to be 3u, I feel like freedom unite is the most widely known oldschool candidate for a rerelease
FU with higher resolution textures and fixed hotboxes would probably kill me from excitement and an entire collection with FU, 3U and 4U def would.
12:10
This is the ticket.
It would also be great if you could transfer content from your 3DS/Wii U to the current consoles but I have no idea how that would work
It would also be nice to add some improvements like how GU let's you hold down the gather/carve button compared to previous games where you had to mash the button to continue or they could possibly add layered gear into the older games but again, I'm not sure if that's even possible
Classic monster hunter is already its own thing, we need some of that but polished with modern stuff
They alreay did in on switch so they have at least proven willing to port that.
rise feeling like a sequel to MHGU makes this idea seem more legit. give the maps from the older games maps in the style of rise but adjusted for a lack of wire bugs. mhfu is a magnificent game that should receive an update and we could also see the return of underwater combat. soft remake should be the way to go
3 ultimate is iffy as tri has got a few things 3u dont. example being the bowgun system.
I don’t know how this would work or if it’s possible but could there possibly be some sort of Frontier rerelease? I think that’d be really cool.
I’d like to see a collection with:
Monster Hunter G
Monster Hunter Dos*
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
Monster Hunter Tri**
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate***
* I’d like to see MH Dos since we never got it in the West, and while FU is the complete version of Gen 2, I think getting to partake in town invasion Yamatsukami, as well as the mechanics in the offline mode of Dos would be a very unique experience.
These games, and the monsters exclusive to them, deserve to be more accessible to "New World hunters."
I'd prefer a slight remake, where the only change is the World/Rise dynamic monster health.
I agree completely
I think there's a decent chance of it happening for the 20th but I'm not super certain
I wish I could play games in the old world
I've played MH stories as my first game but like I beat that no problem but I have been playing monster hunter Rise/sunbreak soloing every monster no problem first trying them an haven't lose a quest yet the only problem I had was understanding the controls but sitting in the training ground for about an hour...... Figuring out witch weapon I wanna use first was fun (Look I'm use to holding r to run an A an b being guard an attacking ok but that beside the point) the point is I have been also playing MH generation ultimate an i still haven't lose a quest an I tbh want the older games to come back for the anniversary
Also bring back Hunter art pls capcom
Also if anyone wondering what Rank I am in MH sunbreak
it HR 204 an MR 20 an just first try flaming espinas with switch axe an using a full set of archdemon armor :v
How you feel about that anti cheat thing keeping people from modding the game?
GU 2 thats all i want with underwater
I would ideally want freedom unite, 3U and 4U and have generations come to other consoles as well as PC
So here's my thoughts on this topic
Fiest off what games, obviously the big most important ones are freedom unite, 3U and 4U and if any will get ports it will be them, I would however love a port of tri and the first 1 aswell as finally having dos and portible 3rd translated, but the ultimate games are the way to go
Secondly what form, i don't want them remade from the ground up, all I want is a port with some slighty touched up graphics and functional Mutiplayer and controller options so they are playable in the ways people are familiar with but nothing else changed,
Finaly my big point, we should be playing the long game so we should pick one, everything pre world could be used to Bridge the gaps between games for many years to come if we stretch things out, so if we only get one it's between FU/3U/4U and personally my vote goes to freedom unite as its the oldest as such is in the most need to new exposure, however the first game would be perfect as the 20th anniversary title
