    Great job Aimee. I find your presentation (always with a touch of sense of humor with good face/physical expression) quite impressive. You not only show how it is done but also explain how amateurs do it and the consequences.

    Just wanted to say that this video was an absolute breakthrough for me! I had about everything else right but this and could not figure out why I couldn’t consistently hit anything. Now, I hit every club in my bag with great contact and distance and straight about 90% of the time! I know there are gonna be some bad shots and stuff I can still work on but this improved my golf swing 100 fold without a doubt!

    Never seen the grip discussed in such a way. I've seen grip presentation discussing grip pressure, strong/weak/neutral grip, overlapping and interlocking grips but this is new. I actually use a 10 finger grip, probably from my baseball days, which mostly works fo me until it's rainy or very humid. Perhaps I'll revisit the grip in the near future trying your suggestions.

    Thanks for the grip insight. Unfortunately for myself I have been emphasizing my grip with the last 3 fingers in my left hand and the middle 2 fingers in my right hand. I think this has caused me to lose club face control as the thumb and index finger in my right hand would loosen during impact and over rotate the club face closed. Soooo I will practice your drills and try out this method. Thanks

I had tinkered with my grip yesterday with good results, but now, seeing this lesson, I understand why I have been missing my irons!!!! Thank you!! Thank you!! I’m headed out now to try it!!!

    Ben hogan said the right hand index and thumb were the swing killers and would often practice with these off the club- how can these be the most important?

    • @GolfWithAimee
      @GolfWithAimee  2 роки тому +3

      Hi Stuart,
      I have learned from Ben Hogan’s philosophies too. Things have changed over the years though. Technology advancements with golf clubs and desire to gain more distance led the tour pros to make small changes from what Hogan suggested. You will notice great players like Tiger Woods, DJ, Brooks Koepka etc have a pre-shot routine where they re-grip the right index and the thumb over and over. And you’ll also notice how strong they hold with these two fingers. These fingers are quite important to control the club head. I hope this helps! Thank you :)

With the new grip, I hit an 8 iron 160 yards, when before the best I could do with the 8 is 140 yards, same with all the irons 20 + yards. Have to learn the new distance, was over shooting the greens. I am so amazed with the solid contact and feel. Thank you so much

    Dear amme . I have been practicing for two years . I tend to close the face of the club in my backswing. My teacher says is my grip in my right hand . I dont cover my left thumb and use my index right finger to stop my bavkswing .he says my right finger should be around rhe golf club not in front . I am having a really hard time with these corrections . Can you show me your right hand travelling to the backswing? How my right index should be in the grip through the top of bacswing? I would really appreciate ypur help.

    Interesting. Quite different on the right hand from the Hogan emphasis (middle two fingers grip, the other three only stabilize). For the left, he says the smaller 3 fingers hold the club. I wonder how much difference that right hand grip nuance makes. Might play with that on the range to see.

    • @heymrwood
      @heymrwood 7 років тому +1

      Steven Plimmer THANK YOU. The last two fingers of your bottom hand control the club. It's entirely possible to hit a golf ball just fine without a top hand even on the club.

      What I've figured is it all depends on how you hit the ball... If you're lead hand dominant and hit with your body then the trail hand grip is almost inconsequential... From what I've noticed most "modern" pros hit with they're dominant hand, the lead almost collapses ala Speith

    Most instructors say primary gripping fingers of right hand are middle and ring fingers. I’ve heard the thumb and index called the “swing wreckers”. Hogan would hit balls with the thumb and index fingers off the handle. Where did you get that information? Very interesting if it is a fact but it is the total opposite of what I’ve seen in past on researching the grip.

    • @brianfantana8510
      @brianfantana8510 4 роки тому

      I've taught for many years and I teach a similar grip to what amy does. Maybe not tight index and thumb but definitely secure on club. Hogan's book is great but not everyone teaches everything in it. A lot of people get flippy because of too loose of grip pressure and firming it up can really help not only support the club but also tighten up the swing. Also I think hand strength has a lot to do with it and some people don't have the hand strength that hogan did.
