  • The Etilaat Roz was once the most widely circulated newspaper in Kabul, but everything changed in August 2021 when the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan.

With journalists tortured in the street for their reporting, many of the paper's staff were forced to flee. Two years on, editor-in-chief Zaki Daryabi continues to fight for the Etilaat Roz's future and coordinates his team across the US, Europe and Afghanistan. In this unique video diary, journalist Abbas Rezaie follows the tenacious correspondents as they continue to report the news. We witness a turning point in Afghanistan’s history, and reflect on what it is to be a displaced journalist.

While in Afghanistan, I was reading Etilaat Roz articles online almost every day on my mobile phone and sometimes on paper. The reports related to the corruption inside the government were my favorite. I admire the Etilaat Roz team for their great job and their contribution to freedom of speech in Afghanistan.

Journalism do create a sense of authority for any government. if the journalism end in country then country could not flourish and the people loose their freedom..

The Hazaras are the most persecuted group in Afghanistan. My experience is they are kind and intelligent. I commend Zaki for his bravery given the variable circumstances.

@@bigjohn4445 Point taken, but homeboy should start closer to home. The Fox empire drives folks to radicalism. Or whatever the UK counterpart is, if he's from the UK. Has he even been to Israel or Palestine or has he just been radicalized to spout uneducated nonsense and has taken up the latest trend to bump his dopamine?
