Well this is a nice drill for the northern farm. That way you dont have to send one from the south up north and you'll save transportation cost. Now about all thats left is a combine & sprayer for the north and you'll all set and will just have to drive up there in the truck. Hopefully all this late snow leaves plenty of moisture to get the seeds a good head start
Mike you are really getting serious on the north farm. I see possibly by the end of next year with some good crops and the high prices you will have all the equipment you need up there. Also I see a nice equipment storage building and a nice house for you and your new family!!
It would seem that as all of us viewers know, that you are way way overdue on putting cell phone chargers in every vehicle and tractor you own/drive...So bite the bullet an buy half a dozen phone chargers and put one in every vehicle and tractor so that way you will always have one with...Then keep a spare around handy for those times when you hafta drive a sprayer, somebody else's tractor/truck or semi...That way wherever you are, Your Always Prepared...And if you get enthusiastic pick up a phone holder which can have a clamp mount, or a suction mount or even a magnetic mount that you can use in the cab or outside the cab so your not forced to always hafta hold your phone when recording a video...
How many farms have you got up there? Well I wish you'd come to Lesotho and do more farming like that, we will greatly benefit a lot from your farming expertise
An item to add to the top of your wish list or for stocking stuffers at Christmas is more cell phone chargers & durable cables so each unit has their own charger set that stays in the appropriate cab
Right?! I just grabbed my set out of my older sprayer cab and plugged it in to the seeder tractor and the cable doesn't work anymore.. I was like really?! 🤦🏻♂️😆
@@mikemitchell2554 Unfortunately so many of the phone cables on the market don't last long before giving issues. Even some brands of braided cables are simply poorly made. I have had EXCELLENT LUCK with the braided cables from Costco plus they come in longer lengths.
Mike, I have question. After seeding snow on the north farm, when will be snow harvest time? And which header do you use to harvest snow? Finally, how much bushel per acre do you expect? 😂😂😂 Seriously, I can not wait for your next video to see what you were actually doing, driving circles in the snow.
You have to plant winter wheat in fall. We usually plant around mid October when it’s starting to cool down it doesn’t like heat. Down here in the mid west nobody plants spring wheat. Winter wheat is only planted to double cropped with a soybean after.
Yo Mike in Welker farms live stream somebody made a joke about u and your planting set up going to help them plant also in Central Illinois farmer were planting last week .
Okay sorry for the question but my English is not the best, how Far is the north Farm away from your Main Farm ? maybe you have told that in your Films but to understand English is not so easy as reading it. And why did you sell the john deer 620 with tracks and not the one with wheels ?
What is the legal width in Ca for farmers? In NY Farmers get 12' with no special requirements. Over 12' to 17' You need lights & flags and if at any point you have to cross the center line it has to be escorted
I love the idea of the sign on the back! I have always wanted something like that on my truck. Difference is that you can fit an e entire sign trailer on your rig lol I drive freeways a lot, and I often see giant transformers or refinery vessels (or SpaceX rockets lol) where they have to take up the entire freeway for hundreds of miles with a giant fleet of cops and pilot cats, and that's what they do, pull over every few dozen miles at pre planned wide spots or ramps to let traffic past. It sucks to be stuck in the mess, but better than if they didn't pull over! Lol I appreciate your proactive management of the traffic, and looking out for the little guys.
@@mikemitchell2554 Thanks for your reply. Could you make a clip with your drone when you come to the end of an field and make your turn. I geuss you leave the 'head land' untouched and make straight lines and then follow the contour of the field for the finish touch? and please can you explain the diffrence between a feeder and a planter? They both do the same job isnt it?
@George Jones i do watch his videos. But i did not see a video with a full turn. If you know, please send me the link. He does not have a video with a full turn recorded with a drone from above
I'll jump in here since Mike hasn't already. Yes, they do a pass or two (depends on the farmer) around the contour of the field to leave space to turn around. Also remember that the drill is 84 feet wide, leaving 84 feet of space between passes to turn around in. As for the difference between a seeder and a planter. A seeder deposits the seed at a set rate (say 20lbs/acre). It does not count every individual seed and is used for fine crops like canola, wheat etc. A planter plants seeds at specific population, say 40 000 plants per acre. To achieve this, each individual seed is placed at the determined distance to achieve that population and thus every seed is counted. This is used for larger seeds such as corn etc.
@@j.e.honiball1327 Thank you. So the best application if you want a mais silage is to use a planter and not a seeder. Please a final qeustion. Let say you own 125 acre of field. And you are alone with no workers or employees. And you want to finish the job in the field in 6-8 hours. Like planting or tilling. or spraying. What size of machine you need behind a tractor at least? 20 feet? 40 feet? And will a John deere 7 RX with 310 HP do the job? Or do you need a bigger tractor for the 125 acre in 6 hours?
@@tjakko4659 ah okay so if its stuck they wont attach the cable to the front of the tractor but actually pull on the rear of the tractor ? (Behind the hinge)
@@tjakko4659 Correctomundo! The cable is secured to the most robust area of the machine near the joint. If it gets stuck, try to find someone to crawl through the mud, water, or snow to attach a chain or Yankum rope correctly. Mike Less also mentions it in his last video.
Not sure if they still make them, an FM modulator. So a simple sign on the back of your machine would read “ tune your FM radio to such and such a channel for more information”. And you can be singing or talking in to your microphone. They use to make them as kids toys.
