Also, there is something quite magical and beautiful in how Lady Gaga takes up the torch from the legendary powerhouse cultural icons that are THE Judy and THE Barbra. She had some pretty big shoes to fill following behind those ladies, and she has gone above and beyond expectations to do so superbly. The very first version of this film from 1937 is available here on UA-cam, btw. Watch it curled up with some snacks on a cozy night.
In my entire 52 yrs on this planet, there have been very few movies that have affected me to my core like this one did. I left the theater in a kind of stunned silence. The movie made me reflect on aspects of my own life & also actually helped to change my mind on a few things. A masterpiece.......
