Bernard was always my favorite and all my female cousins' favorites. I remember one Christmas my aunt asked my dad write a letter from Bernard in his handwriting to my little cousin to leave under the tree with a pair of rollerblades. Money was tight so my aunt had to get my cousin a second hand pair and so the letter said something along the lines of "These are my old skates, can't find the time to use them anymore, maybe you'd like to hang onto them for me for a little while". She couldn't believe it she was over the moon.

I hope you’ve watched the new episode of the Santa clauses that came out yesterday with Bernard. It’ll answer the questions you & I had about him not being in the 3rd movie. They gave us answers, but the real reason he wasn’t in the 3rd movie was because he was filming a show at the time & Disney gave him such a low offer he felt insulted & his character devalued for what he read in an earlier script. David Krumholtz posted a couple of articles yesterday on his IG stories explaining all of this. Finally we got answers in the show, but also what happened in real life too.

Man, a buddy and I came up with a storyline for SC4, and it was awesome. Now we get Bernard back, and this new SC project on disney plus, but it looks horrible to me. The short version of our story is Bernard gets frustrated with the loss of Christmas spirit and leaves the North Pole determined to revitalize it. But being away from the NP for so long starts to have negative effects on Bernard including aging him and blackening his heart. He ends up starting a toy business that further sucks the magic out of Christmas. It's up to Scott and his gang to save Bernard and save Christmas in the process. It would focus on the nuance of how people with the best of intentions can still lead themselves down a dark path with a redeeming arc. Yes, your typical Christmas Carol story.
That Storyline sounds a tiny bit like Santa Claus: The Movie.....you may be done for Copyright Infringement.....I'd work on it another bit a change it up slightly.

I don’t think Bernard would ever take the job, though. Even if he’s a little high strung, he’s always seemed to be of the opinion that each elf has their place, their job and he’s never had that opinion that he could do better than head elf. He was perfectly fine with that lot in life.
The episode Barnard will be in- my theory is: he’ll reveal some things to Scott about Santa he(Scott) doesn’t know, one of these things could be about the night Scott became Santa. Bernard is 1 of my first crushes. I was roughly 10 or 11 at the time (currently 34 1/2) I saw The Santa Clause. I remember being fixated on his face, hair, voice & hat. I didn't know why I wanted to stare at him, but I did know I was obsessed. 😻 I still have a big crush on the actor too. He is so handsome & funny. For some weird reason, my childhood memory tells me Bernard's skin was darker. Weird, huh?

I agree. In a Christmas movie centred at the North Pole, Obviously, for the majority of Christmas movie fans, Santa Clause is going automatically be the go to favourite, though, Bernard's former job is just as important.
The way the story should go is, Santa finally finds a replacement, whether Bernard or otherwise. Santa gives him the job; but then things go horribly wrong and the new "Santa" is not up to the job. After that, Scott realizes, that there could never by any other Santa but himself, and thus resumes the job, giving us a happy ending.

Bernard isn’t Santa material, he lacks the childishness needed for the job. it’s more likely that he took time off for a vacation rather than endure Scott’s in-laws and ex-wife’s family leaving the operations to Curtis with him never envisioning the shenanigans that could occur
I kinda just assumed the movies were just that. Movies. The extra features in the DVD copies of the films have the directors, bernard and curtis all mention that they're filming a MOVIE as THEMSELVES (the elves are themselves, Santa is playing himself, the directors are making sure they're not getting in the way of Christmas preparations so they build a replica of the toy factory, etc etc). So if anything, with the discovery of the novelisations, I'd assume that the books are the proper canon and historical documentation (which is aided by Bernards letter/warning in the Santa Clause 3 novelisation), whilst the movies are just adaptations of the canon.
I have not watched a single Santa Clause move yet I'm dumbfounded by Bernard's absence in Santa Caluse 3 and deeply moved by that series pitch at the end
That's the one thing that bothered me about the Santa Claus 3. It actually was pretty good. It wasn't bad but not the best. But not even explaining Bernard drove me nuts.

I have not watched a single Santa Clause move yet I'm dumbfounded by Bernard's absence in Santa Caluse 3 and deeply moved by that series pitch at the end
That's the one thing that bothered me about the Santa Claus 3. It actually was pretty good. It wasn't bad but not the best. But not even explaining Bernard drove me nuts.

man they could have just said Bernard has went on elf business and left it at that. i would have accepted it. but they didn't even mention his existence at all. i just watched the first 2 episodes but it just makes me ask tons of questions. where's judge reinhold, charlies mum, and charlies half sister. i hope they appear at the end but i ain't holding my breath.

I don’t think he did take on the mantle of being Santa Claus. You seemed to overlook his line from the first film, “toys have to be delivered, I’m not gonna do it, it’s not my job I’m just an elf!”
According to the actor, he was willing to work his schedule to be a part of it, but didnt like how they wrote the character
Every hundreds of years a mature elf like Bernard must undergo a elf tradition. They must go into a wild in the month of December and kill a bumble by Christmas day.
