The pre-9/11 world was amazing to live in. I feel for the kids growing up in this Dystopian nightmare. Time to turn that on it's head and my like was number "23" Hail Eris!
Takes me back to Glasgow University student union 1993 or thereabouts. Big Gail storming about the stage with a Rickenbacker bass. Me falling over in the crowd and getting rescued by a dozen pairs of hands. Some young Irish girl was talking to us in the bar upstairs before the gig, urging us to come down and see her band play support. We did, she was called Dolores and they were The Cranberries.... Smashing night, so long ago !
i had this on a tape that i recorded from short wave radio.. i remember listenign this on my walkman while walking to the highschool bus .... this music helped a lot back then.
@tml4873 Actually she used to play for L7... I never understood that weird weird choice, as you say she was always "rocking out" , her style was more for a band like Vixen, Babes in toyland or Hole
Just when you thought she was gorgeous with red hair in "Feed the Tree" and the other version of "Gepetto", her makeup, lighting and hair in this video make you fall in love with her all over again. Jesus she was a babe back in the day!
I loved Belly. I wish they were still going, but I also love Tanya on her own. And she's happy and that's what most important. Gotta do what makes you happy.
Oh, for those pre 9/11 years when being depressed was just a fashion statement, when you could graduate from a junior college and pick what Internet start-up you wanted to work for, when the worst thing the President did was refusing to keep his pants on . . . .and you could hear Tanya Donelly on the radio, giving my kids driving lessons and screaming along with Billy "rat in a CAAAAGGGEEE"
This is a completely different recording from the original Gepetto video, which used the studio version from the album. I wonder if this version is available anywhere other than on this video? It's not just a remix - this is clearly a different recording.
I discovered belly one night while I was watching rage I bought there best of cd love this 90s music bring back rage and bands like belly music's gone to Shit
Boston 90's music scene was crazy great for female vocalists. Tanya Donelley, Kay Hanley, Julianna Hatfield, Kim Deal, Janet LaValley, what a miss for the rest of the country.
Tanya and Belly's problem is that their first album was over-loaded w/ great material and their second album had very very little left. Suzanne Vega did the same thing ie shot her wad on many years of pent up material on one album and then had nothing decent left for a follow up. Gail didn't help matters but she wasn't the problem (only a distraction)
Great sound ! I've just heard something new that taken me out : The song "After dark vapours" by Nikö Laetailleurs. You can find it by writing *"After dark vapours - Nikö Laetailleurs*" in the youtube search bar. Hoping my own feeling become yours...
I wonder to which point Warner Bros owns any right over this song (and album) since it was released by 4AD. WB's job is only to market the 4AD catalogue in USA, nowt else.
@LTF6161 I disagree. King was a great album - Red, Silverfish, Super-connected, King, Seal My Fate (possibly one of the greatest songs ever written), Judas My Heart etc. The problem was that it got panned by a few critics early on which deterred others from checking it out for themselves.
Did that Gail Greenwood even play bass on this song? I thought it was Fred Abong on the first record. The second record was good but the first is clearly magical.
Oh, the 90's. The last great decade for everything. 💗💗💗
Saint Ann .....especially music...reminds me when my girls were little
They were great that's for sure
grow up
Great music, lackluster cars, the pro wrestling was phenomenal
Yep!
No one knew who they were, but I loved and still love them!! I am a true Belly fan!!
I like your user name...I have a feeling we have the same taste in music
Love Tanya and any group she was in. She has such a great voice and awesome guitar player. I miss the show 120 mins when MTV was MTV.
They were very well known in Europe I can tell you that
they sold loads of records buddy
No one knew who they were? Who didn’t know?
Love that 90's guitar sound, the look, the feel of the video 0- just everything, damn I miss the 90's soon much..

Allen McLaughlin Dolores fuck yes!!
I'm 50 now....and I WILL NEVER FORGET MY 20s
59 here.
Tonya kissed me on my forehead at a outdoor festival once. They Might Be Giants were in stage. ❤️. Life was so simple back in the day.
Kissed by Tanya Donnelly while listening to TMBG.
It's official. You had the best 1993 of anyone not named Joe Carter.
I looked forever for this video. I saw it once in (I think) '94 on MTV and really like the song. Thanks whoever up loaded this!
😂😂😂😂 Hey new best friend
This Album was a bomb, and I listenend to it over and over. But this is the first time ever that I see what they look like!!!
One hell of a 'belly' in the thumbnail, in my opinion.
I met Gail Greenwood after an L7 show in '99. Her abs were and still are more impressive in real life.
lol I keep staring at it
i always loved Tanya Donelly's dance thing she does when she plays guitar.
That woman just has it.
She's so lovely!
The "Tanya Donelly Stomp"...
Probably my favourite sixth-form song....not quite sure what made me find it again today, but glad I did....made me smile a lot!
Me, too. Not sure what made me find it but I'm glad did. Cheers!
There is something just downright heroic about the way Tanya Donelly stomps in stiletto heels.
I loved this band's sound and still do
beautiful Tanya, timeless songs. miss the 90's so much
Great tune. Very under rated.
Nice pop song from one of the underrated US bands of the 1990s
had the album many moons ago, but got lost over the years.
just bought this & feed the tree on cd single from ebay, great memories.
I wish I could go back to the 90s
I love this band so much, but I'm really just here to marvel at Gail's gorgeous, amazing bod and her skills. ~ Sincerely, a mostly straight woman. ;)
Hey, it's a fact. She is ripped. Nothing wrong with admiration.
Gail is a badass
Band is a classic great band from the early 90s.. appreciate the belly :)
Gepetto class permisos por favor y Gracias - un der Ires.
i had this on a tape that i recorded from short wave radio..
i remember listenign this on my walkman while walking to the highschool bus ....
this music helped a lot back then.
this is a great video...then, now and always.
Just made me so happy rediscovering this song :D
Belly played at my college. One point between songs, some guy yelled at Tonya, "You're f***ing hot!"
She just smiled and blushed.
@tml4873 Actually she used to play for L7... I never understood that weird weird choice, as you say she was always "rocking out" , her style was more for a band like Vixen, Babes in toyland or Hole
Bingo... Said the same thing repeatedly. Killer bod. Lots of energy. Great musician, but horribly out of place in this band.
Going to the show tonight! Been a long time! Refreshing my brain! LOL

I’m commenting from the future. They will eventually get back together and put out a new album.
@@NoMoreMrNice 2016!
ahhh makes me proud to be a Bostonian her Juliana Hatfield and Letters to Cleo all from Boston and I LOVE THEM ALL

I miss the 90's.. what a great time, great music.....
Tanya ..the sexiest voice in rock.and Gail is just yummy.love this band always have
Omg those abs
Yeah Tanya is awesome. If you ever get the opportunity to meet Tanya, she is so awesome and cool.
I literally love this so much
Nice song and video! memories of 90s...
Belly brought me here in 1993. Yellowjackets brought me here now.
What other songs has YJ made you like again?
I was absolutely in love with Tanya when I was a teenager.
That bass player 💘
Fit AF
Wow. I literally haven't heard this song in, like, 20 years.
I miss WHFS in DC....
HFS rocked!
@DanR67
So true.....I've met Tanya in person....and she's a sweetheart.
I noticed that all of the video's had a way better mix than the CD had.
I own both CD's and they sound much thinner than the videos do.
Tanya,you still rock.
Great comment
@DanR67 I saw them at the Cat's Cradle too!! I miss the days of going to Chapel Hill to see great shows!!
This is a completely different recording from the original Gepetto video, which used the studio version from the album. I wonder if this version is available anywhere other than on this video? It's not just a remix - this is clearly a different recording.
I used to be in a band in the same period and took my very basic basslines also very seriously on stage...hahaha! go Gail! :-D
Best abs in music video history
Her hair is perfect in this.
Lovely. Oh, 90s videos. I'm heading to the Breeders or Grant Lee Buffalo now...
andrewbeeable Grant Lee Buffalo! Now there’s a name I hadn’t heard in YEARS!! Thanks for reminding me of them. 😎
Awesome, just awesome.
I discovered belly one night while I was watching rage I bought there best of cd love this 90s music bring back rage and bands like belly music's gone to Shit
Gale Greenwood 🔥🔥🔥
@N8trone They are both georgeous women, in my humble opinion. Plus, this band is extraordinarily talented...
Boston 90's music scene was crazy great for female vocalists. Tanya Donelley, Kay Hanley, Julianna Hatfield, Kim Deal, Janet LaValley, what a miss for the rest of the country.
Oh definitely. I still feel fortunate to have been there. Also, you forgot Jennifer Trynin.
+Daniel Perry That's why Boston rocks!
just saw Belly the other night.....and blake babies a month ago. blake babies is juliana hatfields first band incase you are unaware.
There was no miss. I have all those cds.
and I saw all of them in chicago, most of them actually.
I didn't stalk Tanya Donelly back in the '90s, and now my life feels kind of wasted.
Best comment hands down...
CGORMS!!!! Long time since we surfed before the show at Ft Adams!!!!! Hope to see you soon!!!!
@gamby123 yes the band was from newport but the singer is from boston
I'm totally diggin' the bass player! No need to go find a buddy to help you move the furniture around for her!
this song is still in heavy rotation on my ipod
ooit stond ik op de eerste rij in de VK voor deze meiden en nee twas niet voor de bassisite , maar wel voor hun muziek
Instead of breaking up Belly should have moved to the UK and they would have gone on to be one of the biggest bands on the planet.
Happy Song!
Anything Tanya Donnelly is solid, check out her first band, Throwing Muses
"...and if you bore me... You'll lose your soul to me."
@N8trone
Indeed. Tanya is quite lovely.
I watched the "official" video and thought I had brain damage. My thought was "where is the bass player" and wasn't the lead singer blond?
Gail rocks!
1:00 - I used to think she said "dickhead potato"
Dick head potato for the win!
The latest Mr. Potato head kids!

Beautiful, too.

@Robert111 Ha ha, I wish mate... My stunning geeky student looks where the best form of contracpetion I knew back then, lol !
Ich lieb dieses Freulein ich lieb Sie ich lieb Sie ich Lieb Sie
God Tanya is HOT!!!
Becky # 1 started a band! Go Lecy!

Everyone talking about the 90s...wasnt even around
@whisky110 Sounds really cool, dude. You probably did the "young Irish girl" I done reckon.
Did that Gail Greenwood even play bass on this song? I thought it was Fred Abong on the first record. The second record was good but the first is clearly magical.
Yes, Fred played bass on the first album but left soon after, which is why the original video for this song has no bass player in it.
All they needed to by massive was to be British. Criminally underrated band.
Gail Greenwood
my favorite belly song!! d:)
I still don't know why they thought they (whoever) needed a radio edit of this song.
Do you know now?
@@charlottecorday8494 Nope. Have any insight?
i still walk with my boots con
I always did like Tanya's stomp dance (or whatever the hell it was called).
Sammich shirt on the V. Assault guy always made me happy.
I broke my CASSETTE TAPE listening to this.
Who let those damn kids on the set?
GAIL GREENWOOD RULES!! She is THEE NICEST human being I have ever met. Kind, kind, kind.
Good song, love this band but I watched the video mostly because I wanted to look at the bass players beautiful stomach.
I wish I had abs like that. :(
@N8trone Oh, hail yes. I mean, Ms. Buff Bassist is not at all bad looking and I am sure she is nice, but Tanya is adorable.
the bassist is fine!
I'm diggin' all.... still
Thumbs up if the bassist is the girl you'd want on your side in a bar brawl
And if you bore me you lose your soul to me...
GIRL POWEER!!! TAWANDA!!!!
