I don't care if you're a Christian or not- you're having an effect on the world. That's what the song is saying. If you don't like the state of the world, don't just sit there and complain. Do something. This song was an eye-opener for me. I would always see pictures of third-world countries stricken with poverty, and see on the news about something happening in first-world countries (murder, suicide, etc.) but I would always just feel bad and then continue life. "I'm just one person, I can't change anything." We've all thought it at some point. But even the small ripples of how you live your life can make big waves. So I'm going to try to spread love; not just to Christians, but to everyone, and not just as a Christian, but as a person who wants to see a brighter world.

I just saw them live yesterday at the Del Mar Fair, I've never listen to any of their songs before, and I got hooked instantly. By far one of the best concerts I been to and they made an amazing performance. Would definitely recommend anyone that's thinking of going to their concerts to go!

After watching Beware of Christians I began to love the concept of stepping away from religion and starting to look at Christianity as the act of following Christ. Our religion shouldn't be a detached thing from how we live our life. Being a Christian affects every part of us, even our sins. Switchfoot nailed this one.
I feel that "religion" and following Christ are two totally different things. Im a follower of Christ, not a "religion". Religions, when you sin or mess up, they bog you down. They make you feel like a screw up. But with Christ, we are forgiven. All our shame, fears and failures are taken up by him if we let them go. He's healer, redeemer, and our savior. I feel that being a Christian, in todays world, has become harder. A friend I have at church, then at school are totally different people. It makes me sad that people like him claim to be Christian but are really fakes. It breaks my heart more when people see him and think thats what following Jesus is. Christ looks over each and every one of us. Searching for that one person to keep this world here, as long as theres one, he will keep us. Thats the world I want. Where people can just coexist and get along. I wish people could just show love and care for other's. Even when we think our life is perfect, its really just a nice and warm furnished cell and when our time is up the door slams shut. Only YOU can choose to walk out, the door is open, and Jesus is calling us home!
Well Jesus did say "I am the way, the truth, and the life" for a reason. I found that people with a religious mind set dont actually see all the blessings that they can because they don't have a personal relationship with God.

To be fair, there's a lot more to America than guns, and to say that guns are our collective religion is a really broad stroke. The US is a melting pot of just about every culture and viewpoint. We make idols of everything as humans on any part of the Earth, no matter our stance on any given issue. The theme I take away from this song is to be introspective, to question our motives and our personal headings. We are all vulnerable to making negative and even terrible things our religion, but for grace. We can't control most things, but we can control ourselves, and we can have profound personal impact on generations to come. What may seem like an insignificant choice for you or me as a person may well affect thousands in the future.
