Yeah, in terms of Austin losing the belt, that was just the era. It was nonstop hot shotting for like three straight years. And I think we can all agree that the money was in the chase for Austin, with him getting his ultimate revenge at Wrestlemanias. It was great formula: Austin gets screwed, Austin gets revenge, Austin gets screwed, Austin gets revenge. They kept that up, and the key was Austin never looked weak or like an idiot during that entire run.
What I love is the fact that a lot of folks forget that Foley had all the craziness of the Cell match, and still came back out and interfered in the fucking main event!
I wish I could go back in time to explain to them why Sunny wasn't on TV anymore. She'd been sent to rehab like three times in the previous 9 months or something like that. Her managing LOD was a burial. I remember the Torch and Observer reporting this 97 and 98.
at least when austin lost the story made sense and it was not a 4 second match at the end of a smackdown with austin never getting a rematch. And I say this as someone who is not a kofi fan, Drew has been a miserable flop as champ but not a surprise to me.
WWE was so confused about what to do with Taker at this time... They try so hard to humanize him with that "shoot" promo but in a few months he just becomes Satan lol. On a side note, it's easy to point a finger at WWF/WCW and promoters for forcing guys back in the ring too soon after injuries, but a lot of that is on the wrestlers themselves, many of them were so scared of losing their spot that they overmedicated themselves and performed through serious injuries when they had no business even being in the ring. The pressure is there from the promoters for sure, but they aren't completely to blame.
In regards to the *retro* shows, No. They may review a match with some notoriety (HBK/Taker 1... 96 WarGames etc...) in conjunction with the following nights Raw/Nitro. I would say that's the exception, not the rule. But whole retro PPVs? No sir. ✌
Same exception applies to "briefly mention." I have noticed that *sometimes* they may do a brief mention of ppv results; more often with top programs. -If a lower card guy has a seminal win/match (they spoke about Eddy/Rey at Havov 97) That's about it. ✌
Watching Triple H on the Big Show special, I was convinced he is as arrogant and juvenile as in 1998. 'Ooh, he is all fat! That's so funny'. Yes, to the unrefined.
Was Jeff Jarrett ever popular? He was annoying as Double J the country music star, I couldn't GAF about the dysfunctional Horsemen angle, and then WCW and TNA built their business around him for the next decade. LOL
I disagree with your assessment - the reason Steve Cold Stone Austin losing the title didn’t hamper him has a lot to do with the title picture being more fluid in general. Titles were changing hands all the time, it was normal. That said, yeah I agree. Austin made the title, not the other way around. He didn’t NEED it because he was King Shit of Fuck Mountain.
The problem with today's booking isn't the lack of talent. In fact, WWE today has a better roster than they've ever had at any point in their existence, even during the Attitude Era. The difference is that the WWE, because their backs were against the wall since the NWO's formation in 1996, NEEDED to create new stars. Hence the rise of guys like Austin, The Rock, Y2J, Foley, HHH and Kurt Angle was necessary to their survival when compared to today. This year is the company's most profitable on record despite not having had a paying crowd in over four months. They don't NEED to create new stars. The issue isn't the "pretenders" that WWE has under contract today, it's their awful creative failing to utilize these guys properly to create new stars. I don't think anyone expects the current crop of guys to be the next Steve Austin, because guys like Steve Austin come around once in a generation. But WWE's script has to be strictly adhered to or else they're buried. Guys can't get themselves over or else they're buried. So even IF someone catches fire, if it's not in the company's plans, well, you're buried. I think you get my point. The current roster simply don't have the freedom to be creative with their characters. Jon Moxley is a perfect example of a guy that SHOULD have been a major star under WWE's umbrella, but their creative hampered his star power at every turn. And now you see the guy excelling in AEW and New Japan (back before the pandemic), having kick ass matches, being an awesome character and a great promo. That says more about the WWE's need to control what their wrestlers say and how they wrestle more than it says about the "pretenders" not being able to be tippy top stars. Also, using Austin losing his title at KOR three months into his reign is a bad example to use as he literally regained the belt the next night on Raw so they could pop a rating.
@39:25- 40:00 - Bryan and Vinny talking shit about modern wrestling in 2017. Fast forward 3-4 years; AEW does what they talk shit about and it's "revolutionary" 🙄🙄
I personally loved 'Corporate Mankind'. I thought the shirt and tie was tremendous.

Guess who's back? Back again, the fuj is back, tell some men.
Welcome back king. Stop being gone so long, your people need you.
@@The_Fuj depends on how good the boom bap was, and if she watches the Fuj.
I guess Sunny was gonna turn on LOD and manage DOA, which is why they brought back Paul Ellering.

Drew and Kofi were victims of bad booking

Do they review the ppvs in detail separately or do they just skip it and briefly mention it in the raw reviews

I'll never understand, Ken Shamrock wins the 1998 King of the Ring and he comes out the next night on Raw without a crown lol
Needs more BOJANGLING HAHA
Not from 2 Cold Scorpio. 😂😂😂✌

Jeff Jarrett "broke 6,000 guitars and never drew a dime"
Helps that Jeff and his father set up TNA lol
Why is Paul so defensive and insecure about how massive his nose is? Triple Nose is called such for a reason :D
